Worked up an appetite doing a short hike around the lake at Bear Mountain, and then we were heading back down to Long Island. So glad I found this place along our route back. We called in our order and they were ready in 10 minutes. I got the warm veggie wrap. It was soooo good. Veggie wraps can sometimes be so lame, but this was so filling. I think it had zucchini and squash, and some really good sauce. It was pretty big, but I proudly finished the entire thing! My parents each got a different chicken wrap which they both enjoyed, and thought they were too big for each of them, and both saved half for later. This is a great spot for a quick but delicious breakfast or lunch. There are so many options from bagels and sandwiches to chocolates and sweets. The reuben sandwich was yummy with perfectly toasted bread and thinly sliced corned beef. The cheesesteak was juicy and well seasoned. Service was wonderful. I don't live in the area, so I have never actually been to this deli, but a good friend of mine uses them to cater all of her parties and the food is the BEST, every time! I have never had better catered food. Everything is always nice and hot, the pasta is cooked perfectly (not over-cooked), the beef is always delicious and tender, the Italian dishes are perfect, and even the sides are full of flavor. If I ever throw a party, I know where to go. Also, when I'm in the area next time I will definitely stop in. Super friendly bunch with solid sandwiches that we got from here for our trip to go hiking in nearby trails. With Covid, we asked them to pop out food in a cooler in a opened trunk while we stayed in the car. They were very accommodating! Sandwiches were a great value. When I walked in I noticed on my left there was a hot coffee section. It was a decent size with multiple coffee options. Breakfast bar you can get a breakfast sandwich with eggs, bacon, and piracies in a plain or egg roll. Disappointed today. I ordered a Rueben sandwich from the grill and there was all kinds of problems. As I was given my completed sandwich by the cook I was told that he didn't have any sauerkraut. Really? You couldn't tell me when I first placed my order? Against my better judgement, I still took the sandwich and checked out with my other items. When I got home my disappointment only deepened further. Not only was my "Reuben" missing sauerkraut but there was no Russian dressing and it wasn't grilled. He simply warmed the meat on the flat top and melted some Swiss. The bread had been run through a toaster. I ended up with a hot corned beef & Swiss on toasted rye with mustard. This used to be my favorite deli. No more! I stopped going there when I saw the no mask, no problem sign. This has become a political issue for the owner who thinks his personal freedom "trumps" public health. I recently saw the sign taken down only to be replaced with one that says masks are required unless you have a medical reason not to wear one. it then says that Hipa laws prevent them from asking so if you don't have a mask, they will assume you have a medical condition and you are welcome without a mask. What nonsense. I have noticed employees with masks below their noses all during the pandemic. If the owner does t care about public safety regarding Covid, how can we trust his food safety. read more

Fix your breakfast menu! How are you still charging $8.99 for the grand slam breakfast that does not include french toast when it is being advertised as such online? You get the same thing as the hobo and sobo meal with a choice of bread for much less. I called to speak to them about it and the lady I spoke to was not only rude but then also sarcastically asked why I didn't order the hobo or sobo if it was the same thing. So you basically just admitted that you're overcharging your customers for the grand slam meal? You removed an item but kept the same price, which is very deceitful. I have been a loyal customer since 2003 and have always considered you the best deli in Rockland. Whenever someone would ask where they should go for good deli, you were the only recommendation I would give. When I was younger and lived at home I was coming from New City and in more recent years I made the trip all the way from Nyack. Within the last year your sandwiches shrunk compared to the generous sized ones you used to dish out. In addition to going up in price. I understand the reasoning on a price increase due to costs always raising but to raise your prices AND make smaller sandwiches isn't very cool. Like I said, I have noticed the significant change over the last year but this past Sunday really did it in for me. I ordered an Italian Combo like I always do and when I got home it was just pure disappointment. Taking the quality of meat out of the equation, it honestly looked like it was from Subway and the bread ate the entire sandwich. I actually took a picture it was so bad which I attached to this email. Unless someone was having a bad day behind the counter I don't see myself coming to you guys anymore for small expensive sandwiches :(" Response from deli "Thank you for your candor and for reaching out to us regarding the issue with your sandwich. I've been a customer of Mountain View deli since it opened up in the Pomona area so it's disheartening to experience the gut wrenching disappointment that I just had upon entering the deli for what is now my last time. To see a Make America Great Again hat placed atop the bagel and pastry section along the Christmas decorations is disheartening. Now I don't know how long it has been there, but it has such a place of honor that today it finally caught my eye. Political alignment is not the issue, the owner of the restaurant is entitled to feel how he feels and vote for who he wants to. It's his right as an American. However, that hat is a symbol of hate, intolerance and disrespect towards people of color, including the Hispanics that work there (which consists of the majority of the employees), the black people who work there, and any people of color who have spent years spending money there. That hat shows that this deli is not an all inclusive environment. Your money is welcome but you are not. People of Color and those who stand against hate and intolerance I strongly urge you to find somewhere else to get your Bobo in the morning, because this particular one not that special. read more

Got a sandwich here the other day. Was overwhelmed at first, because it was very busy, and there were multiple counters. One of the guys behind the counter asked what I wanted, and I wasn't sure, and kind of mumbled a few ingredients, chicken, mozzarella, lettuce, tomato. I asked what kind of breads were available, and he went into a long list, I wound up with focaccia. Then he asked if I wanted some pesto on it as well, with the focaccia toasted... and I fell in love. He read my mind. Sandwich was delicious! The guy was very friendly as well, asked what I was doing in the area, etc. Will definitely stop back by if I'm in the area again. Tips: No tables, so plan for take-out only. The food is good but what drives me crazy is the prices and I don't mean that it's a specialty deli so I expect to pay more, that isn't a problem. The issue is I get the same sandwich every time and every time I get charged a different price. Could be anywhere from $8 to $10 depending who makes it and who sticks the price tag on it.
