The best home cooking in the area! Don't let the outside worry you, the food is very good!

The best down home cooking in the area! The outside is a little dated, but don't let that bother you. Service is quick and friendly! Definitely a local favorite!

Went here on a Sunday around noon. Pretty packed but we got a table right away. I got a cup of the soup of the day which was vegetable for $2.45 to start with. I also got a tossed salad which was okay but the ranch dressing was good. I got the chopped sirloin with onions and gravy and it was delicious. The mashed potatoes and gravy paired well with this entree. We also got the baked chicken with dressing with sides fried squash and potato salad. Both sides were good except the fried squash was better when it was hot. The baked chicken was soft and juicy but the gravy on the dressing was a bit salty for my liking. Overall this place was great and we'd come back again. We got a lot of food for a low low price bc of if the Sunday deals. We got all of the above for under $20.

2 Combination Seafood Platter with green beans and candied yams

Mountain View one restaurant that is consistent with their friendliness and good food. I love how the staff interact with customers like old friends! I ordered the seafood combination, with jumbo shrimp and flounder. Everything tasted so fresh and crispy. I opted for the green beans and candied yams for the sides. I will say that I felt like I got my money's worth and had plenty to take home. Their menu offers a variety of food, making options for everyone in the family. The restaurant is clean and I would recommend anyone dropping by.

Chicken Livers, turnip greens and green beans

Located in Kings Mountain a short distance from I-85 we decided we wanted some southern home style food and selected this place as it was on our way. Upon entering it reminded me of several similar style places in my small NC hometown that had been around for ages and served good comfort food - what I grew up with. The staff was friendly and both my wife and I were quickly able to find what we wanted from the menu - I got grilled chicken livers with turnip greens and another side and my wife got the salisbury steak and two sides as well as iced tea. Portions were great for the price which was reasonable and inexpensive in my opinion. Bread was also served. Parking right in front of the building and was easy to find. I recommend if you like southern comfort family style food and we will be back next time we are in the area!!

Breakfast plate with eggs, grits, sausage and biscuit--you get two biscuits

You get a ton of food here for a low price. We've been twice, once for lunch and then more than a year later for breakfast. They have perhaps the BEST GRITS we've ever had in a restaurant. They also have delicious, big, flaky, buttery, brown biscuits. Eggs are good. Sausage was good. Omelette was good. Gravy is okay. Breakfast with tip cost us $17.25. When we went for lunch, I got a BBQ special with hushpuppies and two sides for $6.75. My wife got a cheeseburger and fries for $5.25. We ate with drink and tip for $18...and were very full! That's a steal this day in time. Our service was great--including the waitress reading my wife's mind that she'd want ranch dressing with her fries. The waitress also tried her best to get seasoning for the fries as my wife requested. Whatever the meal, we were full and satisfied when we leave Mountain View.

Keep in mind having fish out at room temp counts as only 1/2 point violation. They have 10 whole points of violations.

Last week, I found myself in western North Carolina, just outside of Charlotte, for a running event…read morein Gastonia. That said, my hotel and dining radius leaned more toward Kings Mountain, NC, so that's where this story actually takes place. I arrived a bit early, checked into the hotel, swung by the venue to grab my packet, chatted with a few fellow runners, and then the most important question of the evening came up. Where are we eating? After a little web surfing, I landed on a spot called 238 Cherokee Grill. It was conveniently located near both the venue and the hotel, which immediately put it in the lead. My friend Jeff and I pointed ourselves in that direction. It was a Friday night, and the place was buzzing. We were told there would be about a 10-minute wait for a table. That slowly stretched into more like 15 to 20 minutes, but when two seats opened up at the bar, we made a quick executive decision and grabbed them. The bartender checked in fairly quickly, despite being clearly slammed. Once we had their attention, we ordered right away to keep things moving. I went with the classic burger, upgraded with lettuce, mushrooms, grilled onions, and a side of fries, ordered medium. Jeff went with the Smothered Chicken. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time, and everything hit the bar hot. The burger leaned a little more medium-rare than medium, which honestly worked in my favor. Good flavor, solid burger. The fries were hot and crispy, exactly how I wanted them after a day of travel and packet pickup. No complaints from either of us. Portions were solid, and the prices felt fair for what you get. The only real downside was that initial wait. There isn't much of an entryway to hang out in, and with the cold weather outside, that part wasn't exactly comfortable. That said, the staff was friendly, the service was solid, and the overall experience was a win. Would I go back if I'm in the area again? Yep. The menu had a few other things that caught my eye, and I'd happily give them a shot next time.

I ordered the vegetable quesadilla which came out very hot and was plentiful. The server was attentive, and the food came out very quickly, even though there were several guests there. There was a separate bar area that was not noisy and TVs were around the restaurant. We'll definitely go back if we are in the area again.

I have Celiac Disease so I have to be very careful where I eat. I found Clover Harvest, read several reviews and called to talk to them to be sure I could eat there. I am so glad we decided to have dinner there! The inside is very cozy with music playing and friendly staff. They were very knowledgeable about gluten free and I felt confident in them. While we waited on our food my husband ordered a Smoky old fashioned and I had a Chardonnay. When our food arrived we were so impressed! I ordered a bone in pork chop with roasted Brussel sprouts and mashed sweet potatoes. The pork chops were topped with mustard onions. It was the best pork chop I have ever eaten! My husband ordered a burger with fingerling potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly. For desert my husband had banana pudding and I had a gluten free fudge truffle pie. AMAZING!!! We are here for a few more days and plan to have another meal there before we leave. The prices were good for the amount of food served. The restaurant is very clean and is a lot larger than it appears from the outside. They also have outdoor seating and if you're in the mood for Corn hole they have a game set up for you. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Fun to see the old theater and the kids with us enjoyed looking around. The music was a little loud, but we did let the server know and they did turn it down for us. We had a group 8. The food was good, maybe a little small in portions. We almost all ordered the crab cake Benedict and the ham Benedict. We also ordered the cheesecake, the crème brûlée and the coconut cake. They were all really good, but I would note the crème brûlée had I believe tea in it? It wasn't just a traditional flavor but it was delicious! I do want to comment on experience. I was with my 8 month old son, who can't eat runny eggs. I ordered the crab cake Benedict and I asked to swap the poached egg to scrambled egg so I could share with my son. The server let me know he was going to check with the chef. He came back right before the plate was dropped off and said "The chef will not be doing that substitution for you". I acknowledge this is an abnormal substitution for eggs Benedict, but I was surprised and disappointed that the chef couldn't make this simple accommodation.
