Lester Moving & Storage Co - How they managed to rip this office chair is beyond me, but it is now ripped, smeared, damaged.

I AM DISMAYED & HORRIFIED BY THE SERVICE I RECEIVED…read more I am shocked at the poor quality of packing I received. This company packed my items into U-box containers to be shipped across country. They did not use the shipping blankets provided (left them in plastic bags, untouched!) so that many of my wooden pieces have horrible scratches now. They SHOVED items into place - despite me saying to use as many U-boxes as necessary, so no need - permanently damaging irreplaceable objects, like an antique chair given to me by my great-grandmother, or expensive photography lighting equipment that I specifically warned needed to be handled with care - now in pieces and damaged, left for me to replace. Like, shoving a fragile circus light with multiple small glass lightbulbs (???) so that it would both BEND and SHATTER MULTIPLE glass bulbs all over everything. They didn't use the plastic mattress covers I bought just for this, leaving my BRAND NEW $2500 mattress exposed to dirt smears and tears, they placed hooked items jammed against box frames, ripping multiple holes in it, they dismantled tables I did not ask to be dismantled, with no care, literally breaking the studs, so that one table is totally destroyed. I was in shock, and the movers who helped to UNLOAD were shocked, having to point out damage after damage to me as they properly handled items. When I called - furious, no doubt - I was first hung up on. When I called back, this time calmly explaining my horrible experience, I asked for the one table mentioned to be replaced - $236 total - as a small gesture for the amount of significant damage that can not be fixed... only to be told they take zero responsibility. It wasn't about the $236 - which is a small dent in the damage. It was about having them acknowledge this was a total F up and shouldn't happen again. This was literally a master class in what NOT to do when moving. Frankly, I remain shocked that any moving company would not (A) APOLOGIZE, (B) offer some small compensation for the emotional and physical damage, (C) do a little research to find out how this could have happened so that NO ONE ELSE EVER HAS TO EXPERIENCE THIS POOR SERVICE. I lived in HR for 16 years, and it's a small town where everyone knows everyone. I hope this warning gets taken seriously. If you opt to use these guys, you better supervise every single thing they do carefully, because if you are not there to watch, your things get ruined and treated like trash. I would seriously say to use someone else. If you scroll through reviews, don't get confused by the good ones. It's the 1-stars you want to pay close attention to.

Yeah, don't go with these guys. i had specific instructions for my move both to the rep on the…read morephone (xavier he's great) and to them directly. all were not really cared for properly. I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. in the end this guy ruined my 2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

But according to their insurance policy, I should have done so before the movers left. I understand that I should have kept the movers waiting and standing around in my house until I went over and inspected every single little piece of my possession (/s), but why and how was my stuff lost in the first place? I clearly saw the jacket go into the boxes along with other jackets and sealed. It was particularly painful to lose this jacket because it was a personal and sentimental item that my mom and I made together. Update: My suddath advocate Benny escalated this issue with his VP to the insurance management company and was able to get them to issue the insurance claim. Although I'm still really sad I lost that jacket, I appreciate the effort that these people went through to make sure I was satisfied.

Theft! Used this…read morecompany as my new job offered them as new hire moving expense option. Always handled my own moves, it was my first time using professional movers. As always, moving out of state with a house full of stuff and a family to a new job is a mess. Found out some months later that collectible sports cards I've had since the 80s were missing from a sports tin. Nothing crazy valuable, a jerry rice rookie and sanders rookies but they were sentimental. Can I prove they were stolen? In everything sense but hard evidence as I didn't list those items on the valuable list. Also, driver suggested I don't insist on inventory for all my items to "save time". Big mistake. I've kept this items in a small sports tin that screams open me if your an opportunist looking for easy pickins to pocket. By the time you realize something is gone, it's past the 90 window to make a claim. You cant even email the sales representative contact that you booked with, email will bounce back. My advice? No matter who you pick, inventory all items, handle valuable including sentimental items yourself, insist they follow all procedures, read the fine print and treat the movers as hired strangers that don't not have your interest as heart. Learn from my mistakes and protect yourself.

Prestige Moving & Storage - Bamboo desktop left my home in perfect condition. Looks like someone used the claw end of a hammer on it. Clearly not an accidental scratch.

The absolute worse experience of my life. The packers were impersonal and did not interact with me…read more(although I was in the apartment all day) so that I never noticed that they packed all of my prescription medication. When I complained, I was made to feel like an idiot (which is probably true) but an apology might have been nice (who packs vials that are clearly prescriptions?) The move took the maximum number of days which would have been OK had not my daughter used the same company and although their things were packed and shipped two weeks later, they arrive in California BEFORE mine. I had to call and complain and all of a sudden they arrived the next day costing me two full weeks of pay. Although I had been promised by Prestige that my furniture would be reassembled upon arrival, the actual movers said that was a dream and refused to do it. When I complained to Prestige they gave me a big run around and finally said someone could come and do it. I said "never mind" and did it myself, wanting to go back to normal as soon as I could. But the very worse thing of all was that when I went to look for my holiday decorations, the box was missing. The rest of the things that were in that room were there, this was a small box with treasured ornaments including one of my deceased husband and memories that can't be replaced. I was told that I "should have made a claim" earlier and while they supposedly looked I got a very rude note saying that they could not find my stuff. All in all, this has resulted in a heartbreaking holiday season and I am very, very sorry that I used this company. I had used Allied Van Lines before but, even though I plan another big move in the next year I will not only stay away from them but make it my business to make sure that no one I know gives them any business. Take my advice, stay away from this place, and most of all, avoid Allied Van Lines and anyone that uses them.

My point of contact starting being really inappropriate to the point that he asked me for pictures (selfies). I had to contact management because I was so uncomfortable and in shock. The owner fought with me over a matter of hours when my things would be moved into my new residence in Nashville, said they were very busy, it was a total nightmare. The way they loaded my things caused for many irreplaceable items to be shattered when I unpacked them, my boxes that were clearly marked as fragile were placed on bottom and the boxes were crushed. Most of my large, expensive pieces of furniture have dings and gashes in them. In the end, the owner Dave, simply gave me the number to his claims person. They did not make anything right and left me emotionally drained and sad in my new place as I put my house together. This move cost me over $7,000 and yes, I paid full price. Shame. DO NOT USE PRESTIGE. If they said it's the movers that they use who are at fault, they are lying. I would not trust the good reviews.
