Damage to paint and edge of dresser.

Hired Allied, which Prestige is affiliated with, for a cross country move from Oregon to Maine. Pick up date was 7/27/22 in Oregon and delivery was 9/1/22 in Maine. The booking agent in Maine selected Prestige as the origin agent for the job. In addition to loosing 25%-30% of my belongings, Prestige successfully damaged almost all of my furnishings. They not only took no care to properly protect the items during transport, it's clear they actively engaged in the destruction of them. My white upholstered bed looks like a mechanic handled it, and then lifted it with a fork lift, dropped it, and then proceeded to drag it across the warehouse floor for good measure. I had an ivory white chair, it's now a different color. Almost like someone set it behind an exhaust pipe and left it there for a while. For the cherry on top, they also stained some of it orange. All three of the office desks shipped sustained damage. Leather furniture is stretched/impacted/scratched. Boxes marked fragile were caved in. I was billed for additional weight that they claim existed, but it's hard to understand since I'm fairly sure multiple other households' items were sent to me, mixed in with some of my own. When I tried to call Prestige to let them know about a key tote that is missing (as directed by the booking agent), the Prestige representative essentially refused to speak to me. They tried to claim that they had no way to see any record of my move and that they weren't making any money from it, my booking agent was. I pushed back about the fact that it's hard to believe that they sent employees/contracted individuals to my home, took my things, had them at their warehouse and supposedly had no record of such work but also did it for free. Allied billed my credit card $17,000 before delivering my items, which means you pay before you see the outcome of the "service" provided. There was no way to know that so much was missing or destroyed. I was billed for transportation of belongings that were never even sent to me, which means I was, at minimum, overbilled. When I tried to dispute the situation, I was told that it is against federal law to charge me less than the original amount. So, in theory, I have to be treated this poorly- it's the law. Do yourself a favor, get ALL the insurance (your renters/homeowners will not protect you unless the transport vehicle was t-boned) and shop around. Ask all the questions and do not accept an inventory list that's simply presented for your signature. You have to teach the movers how to do their job, because... you're paying for it no matter what happens and their negligence is apparently meaningless. I'm not trying to sound that condescending, it's essentially what I've now been told. (The Prestige movers made an inventory list that consists mostly of lines through the description section, and not everything was labeled with an inventory sticker, which is just a 3-digit number on a sticker. So there's no proper record of what they did or did not damage/deliver and no effective way to figure out what household a random box/item belongs to, should it pop up in someone else's container of goods. If someone finds one of my boxes, they will have no way to link that to my registration number which is the equivalent of an order number.) I learned the very hard way but want to save the next person tens of thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches. You're fully relying on the local affiliate groups and what they determine to be "professional" behavior. Prestige and Allied have a definition that severely misses the mark. Not only are they less helpful than a kick in the teeth, they'll charge you for the pleasure.

The storage units are nice, well maintained and easily accessible. What makes this business amazing…read moreand incomparable is the manager, Teresa Simmons. She is attentive, friendly, thorough, and an absolute pleasure to work with. I had car trouble, and was unable to make the appointment I had made to have our old lock cut off, and she did her best to accommodate a make up time for me. Teresa's boss should pay her double what she's making!! I can't say enough about how wonderful this woman is!!

Today, the 8th, I was told SEVERAL different reasons (the excuses kept changing) that rent would not be pro-rated. I asked several times. First ", "it would have been pro-rated if we were out by the 8th, whoops today is the 8th, if you would have been out by the 7th." That didn't fly, so the next excuse was that " I pre-paid". Sure glad I'm being penalized because I pay my bills. Next excuse was "because I was on auto-pay". Again, glad I'm being penalized because I pay my bills. Next excuse, "I needed to tell them by the end of the month - -it is in the contract". "Whoops you didn't sign that page of the contract". Excuses went on and on. Very, very disappointed in this establishment. There are other storage centers in town. Take your business elsewhere. Now just to hope that I don't get charged again for next month....

The man said he felt unsafe around me. I was profiled by a stranger and then they went as far as trying to remove me from 'their' storage area by maliciously making up perverted lies. Scary part is, every neighbor I met was delightful and i never once had a foul exchange. Let that be an anchor for how uncomfortable I am. I'm a young heavily tattooed female who travels and camps with my partner a lot in the summer. The first week I was even really around (cleaning from a huge move, the camp, laundry to store away, tiny bit of bead-work unpacking) we got a complaint yet my partner and I had already had our storage in the facility for 4 months. We have the same address. Its preposterous to think me with even a gate code, and my padlock code, how am I a danger or showing I am not allowed to be there? Obviously I'm not a criminal. Its laughable really. This storage area lets people loiter all the time, use the car wash rv dump wash area, chat with neighbors, and work in their units. Ive seen people drinking beer in front of their units with food laid out. Im not allowed to be around the same solely because of profiling although we were given tons of excuses why we can't be around. Its profiling. So beware if you're a tattoo artist or in an alternative field with tattoos... This area has a renter that lies even tho video cameras are around and no one checks them if they're on im guessing, If they were checked or running they'd see the blatant attack at me from a creep I never met. So beware cameras aren't monitored here presumably because of the ability and ease of someone creating such a story with no one reviewing. I have no clue how anyone would live in a storage unit here when they have a home but I digress. Beware of profiling if you have art on you. A very scared hateful person here will make your storage experience uncomfortable and hurtful to say the least. The owner could do a better job having other renters mind their own business while he checks his cameras to see if the complaint is even real or possible to begin with! Poor use of surveillance cameras. All for show!

Update: 50% refund…read more Yeah, don't go with these guys. i had specific instructions for my move both to the rep on the phone (xavier he's great) and to them directly. all were not really cared for properly. I should have just gotten my friends and a uhaul to move, but i was promised it would take 5hrs. i was billed 5.5hrs. tip top of the money i had left. and they didn't even have time to move everything. why? because their recklessness with my things i didn't want them carrying my computer monitors. they were hired to pack and move stuff across portland. they came at 1:30 when they said only to tell me that they didn't know they needed all the packing stuff. they eventually arrived nearly 2hrs later and towards the END Of the original window i was promised without any 'hey we will be there at this ETA' they said they got stuck behind a train, which is fine i guess? but no update after that until i called and complained, which got me a 5% discount, which is nice i guess? but like everything that happened after were MASSIVE red flags, both for the computer and the 'movers' which felt like contractors they just hired for whatever without properly vetting. i had a small move, 2 rooms. they were the slowest movers and most reckless movers i've ever hired. but i don't really blame them fully for that. supposedly they were working since 8am and just drove up from salem or something. they didn't even eat lunch. is that even legal?! no wonder they came to the door exhausted already and out of it. These 2 guys did the best they could, but honestly with how exhausted I was from helping them (something i SHOULDN'T HAVE HAD TO DO), they were doing a good job, but that doesn't really matter. In the end this guy ruined my $2000 custom built standing desk for music. not sure if i can get it repaired or fixed. he undid it and said he will put it back together. it was pretty easy just a few bolts into the joints between the wooden top and the legs and putting on the keyboard tray. easy stuff for the most part (when you have a drill, i don't own one). this guy didn't even look at where he was drilling or understand how the desk was put together after showing him specific things. he just drilled in the bolts and they hit a part that they're supposed to go into but was put in backwards making it impossible (on purpose) to get the screw in. this guy just kept drilling harder and harder and when i asked him about it he was like yeah it's supposed to sound like that. He either was so exhausted he couldn't think straight or just took on tasks he could have said 'yeah i don't know how to do that, can you do it?' either way now i have a broken desk that's only partially built and put together. i am really glad i moved all of my expensive stuff to my place with a friend last weekend, because they definitely would have broken a lot of very expensive things! I also gave them a mattress cover to put on the mattress, and they struggled doing that. You are movers wtf?! i zipped it up about half way and moved on. Then when we got to my new place they didn't even use it and put the mattress on the pavement to get a better angle or something. like what was the point in bringing it?! They also dropped a bunch of precious memories i had in a bin in a bin, they said they took them out because the outer bin couldn't close (bs). They were holding it open wrapped around their arm and i asked them to close it as it doesn't look secure and he said it would be fine, then immediately drops it with pictures and papers dropping on the ground and getting dirty. Anyway this all just happened. and there's no way I can live in my new place due to the lack of time they afforded to me to actually place things in the right spot. At least my bed is in the right spot. luckily for now i am in a short term rental because my last place had mold and why I am moving. i am highly allergic and being there as long as i did, both to wait for them to show up and how slowly they worked on loading the truck, I am feeling sick again because of it. The estimate was low balled to say the least because these guys move at a snails pace because this company overworks them and treats likely their staff like crap. these are probably more desperate people looking for an easy pay day. one guy was like 'i worked 4 days this month' and the other one worked 6 days in a row. a 12 hr day without a break outside of driving (which isn't a break) isn't really fair or legal? I paid nearly 1k for this move, and you can't afford to give these people a proper break between moves? I'm sure they weren't making nearly enough either. Lastly they pressured me to sign a thing at the end of the receipt that says everything was delivered intact, which i didn't sign. Anyway go with another company, not worth the risk. I didn't have another weekend to do this move as i need to have a livable space and that takes time as well. Anyway the movers were careless, slow, expensive, and ignored instructions.

All Service Moving did a great job. However, I was pushed…read moreinto signing a release of liability half way through. The rep said turning it sideways to get it thought the door was a special event somehow and that I would have to sign some papers. Seriously, I'm paying $700 to move a 350 pound object from the parking lot into my apartment. All Service Moving should bake the liability into the cost. If they drop it and I can't fix it, I'm willing to eat the $3k to buy a new one but they should at least agree to haul the old one away and move in the next one for free.
