Love everything about this place! They treat all my fur babies as their own! Fast care and can always get in when it is needed.

Owner is rude!! I had a question that didn't seem important to her but it was for my household.

    Hillside Animal Hospital

Hillside Animal Hospital is the most wonderful Vet practice we have ever used. Our 4 month old lab…read morepuppy, Floyd is our 5th lab retriever we've taken to Hillside over the many years. There are times we have had to take our dogs closer to home, and we just see a complete difference. Dr. Ben is always patient, knowledgeable and professional with all of our many questions (especially since it's been 14 years since we had a puppy). We never feel rushed, confused, (or pressed upon to add services as I see in October's review). This is simply not the case with Hillside. Their staff is pleasant, efficient, extremely caring, while also being knowledgeable & professional. I've never met anyone at Hillside that gave us less than excellent & exemplary customer service. I recommend Hillside to any animal lover!

Special Thanks to Dr. Ben for his care, paying attention to very little details and establishing treatment plan that proven to be successful. Team took our little dog in critical condition in times when many appointments already been pre-scheduled but we didn't wait pretty much., in no time the team took care of him and Dr. Ben performed all tests in timely matter. We believe it all saved our dog. Again, very much appreciated! Way to go! God bless you.

Valley Veterinary Emergency Hospital and Referral Center - They would've put a perfectly healthy cat down if I would've said yes. That says a lot.

My husband finally got her outside and all she passed was blood. Called family members into action and within an hour were at the Emergency Vet Clinic. The receptionist, the Techs and Vet were nothing but kind, compassionate and loving to our girl and to our family. It's never easy, but EVC made it comfortable for everyone 4-legged and two legged. Thank you

I have been to this practice twice in the last 30 days, with 2 different pets. First dr did ZERO…read morediagnostics and diagnosed our Frenchie with IVDD, told us we needed to admit to them or Frederick for emergency $12,000 surgery first thing in the morning. Guilted us when we said we would like pain management and would take him home. Then took an hour to bring pain meds in, while telling us we might miss our opportunity for surgery if he went home, and if he did not get surgery he needed euthanasia. Got a second opinion, no surgery, steroid and muscle relaxer and crate rest. Dog was FINE in 4 days (but still on crate rest precautionary for 6 weeks.) Then today brought a sick puppy and the tech came out and asked me to sign a hospitalization form and give a $1500 deposit - BEFORE A VET EVEN SAW HER! I refused asked for an examination. Vet then came in and said they could tell they wanted to admit her - but she had NOT examined yet. Demanded an exam and fecal and fluids. Asked for supportive care so I coukd take her to my regular practice in the morning. Vet repeatedly asked if ahe could admit "for a few hours," and kept telling me puppy was probably going to die and I would end up bringing her back. Techs and vet were very rude when I asked for actual teating and exams. Never again.

The drive was never fun, and there weren't appointments, so one could end up waiting over an hour if it was a busy day. I love that this vet has extended hours on Wednesday evenings so that I can go after I get off work. I call, make an appointment, and I can be done in under 10 minutes after arriving. The vets are a father/son duo, and they also have a main vet office near Keyser called Hi-Rock Animal Hospital. If your pet happens to need more extensive testing or a stay overnight, they'll transport your pet here to care for them, and bring them back to the Romney office when it's time to go home. Their services may seem a bit pricey at times, but to me, that's worth the trade off in gas and time I would use to drive elsewhere. I've used them for regular yearly checkups, a teeth cleaning, gastro-intestinal issues (cat stayed a few nights), vomiting issues, and euthanizing two elderly cats. The one time in particular was memorable because I had no money on me at the time to pay for it, since I'd accidentally left my checkbook at home in my grief. Since my cats were clients and had been, the vet told me to bring the check by the next week, no problem. I definitely have never forgotten that kindness. They are definitely my preferred vet of choice!

I called to see if there was an emergency number on their answering machine message & the father answered the phone. He told me he would meet me at his office in Keyser right then so he could see her. She had to have surgery that night & wouldn't have survived otherwise. They also saved my sisters dogs after they ate rat poison. I have heard negative reviews about father Gustafson, I think his personality is just a little rough around the edges but he knows what he's doing & is a great doctor! Thanks docs
