They have been great at taking the time to help me care for 3 week old kittens. They also did a great job with my not so friendly older cat. Couldn't ask for better care and help for my four cats. read more

I own a horse and a Service Dog who have received care by the Veterinary professionals from Mountainview from both the Keyser and Petersburg locations. In the past (2019-2023) I experienced quality care--especially by Dr. Duncanw. I moved to Delaware, but recently returned --only to find new staff who in many cases are bullies--don't listen to their customers, and don't know how to do accurate and timely invoices explaining services rendered and itemized charges.. Apparently the Keyser Clinic generates invoices/statements for BOTH clinics--a very strange arrangement causing customers to get the "run around" when a question about the an invoice occurs. Adding to the problem is the irregular hours the billing clerk wotks. No one else can address billing problems? That's their policy. Customers end up calling several times to finally get an answer-- both annoying.and inefficient. The last time I called, I asked to speak to a supervisor, who thereafter refused to allow me to explain why my invoice was incorrect. Instead, she talked loudly over me, told me to "settle down", referred me to the "difference" between a "Statement" and a "bill" --which made no logical sense--and then hung up on me! If I was her boss, and i heard about this kind of behavior, she'd be fired. Customers should come first and treated with respect. So it doesn't surprise me that complaints by other customers are being reported. Vets are scarce in rural WV and MD, but that doesn't give Mountainview the right to be condescending to its customers. A case in point are the bold highlighted portions of invoices sent that insinuate each customer is so ignorant to need such emphasis that the bill is due upon receipt--especially when Mountainview is at fault in the first place for sending bills out delinquently, i.e. months after the care was received. Customers in Mountainview's catchment area have little recourse for animal care. We're stuck. But I refuse to pay for two farm calls and 2 wellness checks within a 2 month period when all the immunizations should have been done on ONE FARM CALL...AND my horse had already had his immunization for the same vaccine five (5) months earlier. I provided the prior immunization documentation when I enrolled my horse with Mountainview. They also performed a Coggins which I never requested!! I already had a Coggins that was only 5 months old. Coggins are valid for one year. read more

Today a perfectly healthy rescue dog was taken to them for euthanasia. The adopter had the dog for 3 days. She wanted him euthanized because the dog barked at her adult son. Despite the fact that the rescuer found out and called Mountainview to try to get the dog, they refused and killed him. No respectable vet kills healthy dogs for such a trivial reason! So i have my vet tech license and im aware of what a vet should do and act.. Dr duncan is not that! She is always in a hurry when she doctors my horses.. she is very quick to put a horse down. She gabs horses with medication and don't tell you the medication or anything. Without knowing truly what she was giving my animals i had a colt gelded a month after what i thought was my fully vaccinated colt, and within a week of him being gelded he came down with sudden tetanus no signs or symptoms. Worst experience in my life. Dr duncan came to my ranch with a bad attitude and not only didn't take a temperature but avoided telling me much to my face. She mentioned to the colts buyer that i "botched" his castration. Yet i have 5 in my field and 20+ castrations in horses successfully healthy while in my care that i personally have castrated because i was taught by a really amazing professor in Ohio. The only thing she stated to my face is that he had a broken leg... and it wasnt .. i sent videos to another vet 2 hrs away and she absolutely said that my colt has tetanus and needed penicillin asap. Dr duncan had named off 5 issues one was tetanus. She was nasty and told me due to covid they didn't have penicillin it was on "back order" .. i went to tractor supply 15 min away and bought a big bottle for about 50 dollars. Back order... yeah Right! Dr ducan even told me 15 cc for 12 hrs ... yet another doctor told me that is not enough for him. I lost my colt because a vet wasnt informative to tell me the vaccines. If i knew he wasnt protected then i would have postponed his castration. To enlighten you on the statement when i said she is fast to put down horses.. Take this for instance.. i had a mare who all a sudden was eating aggressively and choked before i knew it.. as Dr. Duncan arrived i had to pay her 200 prior to even touching the horse... seriously!! .. If i didnt have the tools to tube her myself i would never needed her. As she was looking at her she said she will need surgery or put down she will always choke now.. After unchoking her i resulted into my own methods and she has been very happy in my fields. I refuse to put a horse down without a fighting chance. Sadly my colt was a victim of her poorly mannered vet skill. I do not recommend Dr. Duncan. I have heard more stories about this vet since my experience that makes me wonder how she has her license still. read more

Love everything about this place! They treat all my fur babies as their own! Fast care and can always get in when it is needed.

Don't bother. They were my vet but after the last two visits, I will not be returning. The visit before, i saw the vet to get my dogs shots for lyme and lestospriosis. I wanted to get all of his shots on the same schedule, so I asked about him getting his rabies and dhlpp early. Vet said no problem, they would do the rabies and dhlpp at the next visit and she will make a note so the techs know. go to schedule that appointment and now i need another vet appointment(not a tech visit for shots) because its their policy that only the vet can give the dhlpp ....the vet that i just saw....that told me the techs can do it....so i say screw it, make the appointment for the other three...... fast forward to today, the tech(not even a certified tech that can give the rabies shot) comes put to give my dog his shots and when i say he is supposed to get there, she tells me that they only marked down two and that a certified tech or the vet are the only ones that can give the rabies shot and she is neither but she will go check. i tell her dont bother...im done, i don't feel like arguing or wasting anymore time and to give him the two he needs. When i go inside to pay, she tells me it is not time for the rabies and I told her that i know but i was trying to get them all on the same schedule So either the vet is not making notes on things she says she will or the staff does bother reading them. either way, its bad for the pets so go elsewhere read more

We don't normally use this vet,they are to expensive,they don't care about their customers or owners and they are rude to whoever they choose.Our first time ever having to work with them was a couple years ago when I had just opened my old rescue in it's first year,we even worked well with the vet,turns out they miss placed receipts,paperwork and just plan out lied but yet every two years we get a reminder for Loki.This is our second encounter,we usually use high rock,we highly,highly recommend them please please go there instead!! It's been around three yrs our pitbull Blu had to be put down he was a rescue we had for four years he was bonded to my husband and part of our family we had him cremated.We were told one week so after a week and a day I call to check this vet assistant answers once she realizes who it is becauseodt know is she was disrespectful,rude she didn't even look she argued with me over the day and basically hung up on me.I find it very unprofessional, unsympathetic and rude people are going throw enough they don't need someone that ignorant that's supposed to be there to help to be that disrespectful over a baby . read more

Owner is rude!! I had a question that didn't seem important to her but it was for my household.

The only reason why I'm giving one star is because I have to in order to write this review. Dr Duncan is the worst horse vet I have ever met!! She recommends to do unnecessary things and will do things without consulting with you first. I have had coggins done by her and it took way longer than 2 weeks like she said for me to get them back and even though coggins is routine work, she lied about me getting routine work done when I asked for a reference from her to adopt a horse from a rescue. She even lied to me about what she told the rescue! This veterinarian is extremely unprofessional. I would not let her even work on a frog! read more

I have been a client of this practice since they opened. We have lost 2 cats, one in their care at the time of death and the other because he chose to die at a time that was inconvenient to their schedule. The most recent appointment was for a checkup which didn't really take place, I mean they did weigh the cat and did touch her a couple of times and of course did charge. That being said and after looking back on the years and the large amount of money I have given; my impression is that these people do not really care much about animals, and I am not sure they care about people either. The office staff are abrasive, and I don't say this lightly as this feeling has occurred several times to me and also to family and friends. If you are trying to have a "professional" atmosphere as you say, then probably a little customer service training would go a long way. I am retired now from a 40-year career in healthcare and so I do appreciate dealing with people who possibly are not at their best due to fear, grief, or concern but at the end of the day it's not about the money you shallow, sad people. If I could give a negative star I would. This office caused the death of our seven month old kitten. He had been neutered and declawed at their office eight days previously. We called on a Saturday requesting an emergency appointment because he quit eating and we thought his paws were infected. We called around 2:00, and they were open until 5, but they would not see our cat. The receptionist said she remembered us. They reassured us the kitten would be fine until Monday, when they could get him in. They did not give us an emergency number if the kitten's health declined. The next evening we called again and reached the answering service. We were then told they do not see dogs or cats for emergencies--only livestock. We were given LaVale Vet's phone number at that time. Unfortunately our cat passed away on the way there, thanks to all the time that was wasted trying to get in at Mountain View. I have been taking our furbabies to Mountain View for 11 years and this was the thanks we were given. They also never called to check as a follow up. I should also mention, when we took the kitten for a well visit, they never corrected us when we said our Male was a female. Never will I go there again!! read more
