TERRIBLE - COMPLETE ZERO! Moving Ahead Services (MAS) is a DISGRACEFUL operation. Unfortunately, we were deceived by MAS' online sales claims. We recently paid them almost $10000 for storage and moving us 100 miles in Western Pennsylvania. Although we have moved 5 times over the past 25 years there was never an issue with previous moving companies. MAS lost 1/3 of our items including TWENTY-SIX boxes with personal statements and other irreplaceable items, such as rare books and collectibles from various countries. They also broke several items, including a cedar porch swing, handmade bench, antique cabinet (lost key and broken glass), and leg on antique tea cart. I also experienced identify theft during this time, which was likely attributable to the loss of documents. They make false promises and deliver items that belong to other people, which demonstrates that other clients are also losing items. Do not believe that the so-called "insurance" will provide coverage either - you pay a lot for nothing. After providing documentation and photos we were offered an insulting $100 settlement on a $5000 claim. Moreover, we did not hear anything from this third-party insurance "team flamingo" for 5 months as they "reviewed" our claim. Online postings reveal this is a scam insurance operation located in Florida that plays defense for disreputable moving operations. MAS also did not assemble some furniture that was delivered. Employees promised multiple times to return with new hardware to assemble our bed. They lost hardware for storage racks, tables, and other furniture. We phoned the local operation in Pittsburgh as well as MAS dispatch in Cleveland multiple times over several months with our concerns and were repeatedly told somebody would be out to resolve the issues. NOBODY ever showed and we still have partially assembled furniture 5 months later. MAS is shameful, dishonest, incompetent, and doesn't care about your belongings, or respond to your concerns. It should not pretend to be a legitimate business. They are a predatory operation that creates an illusion that they are customer focused. I strongly caution people who value their belongings to not hire this corrupt and appalling outfit for anything, but rather search out reputable moving firms. If you have doubts, please refer to the numerous complaints about MAS on the BBB website. I HAVE CALLED YOUR OFFICE A DOZEN TIMES AND NOBODY AT MAS IS EVER AVAILABLE TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM YOU CREATED. I AM ALWAYS TOLD THAT SOMEBODY WILL GET BACK TO ME AND IT NEVER HAPPENS. THE ARROGANCE OF YOUR OPERATION IS ASTOUNDING! MAS WAS DELIGHTED TO TAKE OUR PAYMENTS IN EXCESS OF $9000 BUT FAILED TO DELIVER ON ANY PROMISES. Move Ahead Services got the job done! I was looking for a good mover like my go-to at home in Philly (Mambo Movers), and I think I've found them. After being a new transplant to Pittsburgh during the pandemic and finding myself needing to move because of a terrible landlord situation (you can read about that in my review of Nexus Realestate later), I needed to pack up all the stuff that I had only unpacked a year before, and move into a new place. That said, I checked reviews online and Move Ahead Services bubbled up to the top of the list. Reviewers got this one right; Move Ahead Services is great! Jordan, Brandon, and Reggie were my designated movers and they all worked hard from the time they arrived. They were very polite and wore masks as appropiate. My move became difficult because the old Pittsburgh home I was moving from does not make full or queen sized anything fit through stairways, so the Queen frame had to go out from the window on the second floor where I lived. Mind you, it really was a whole thing because my landlords would have to put down the window frames in order for the bed to come through, etc. This is how the bed came in. I contacted the landlords so that someone from their maintenance could come and take down the frame the same as when I moved in. However, no one showed up on my move out date-- and when I reached out to the landlord they took forever to send anyone-- even though I stressed that the move was costing me. Jordon, the team lead on the move, just bit the bullet, he contacted his bosses and they talked it out and made it happen. He cleaned the roof off (it was super snowy) and hoisted the bedframe down to his colleagues. I was freaking out inside the whole time because I was worried he would fall. But he did it! My move was able to continue in swift fashion. They wrapped all my belongings and handled them with care. I have a massive record collection that I was worried about but it was all fine. When they arrived to my new place, they actually read the top of the boxes and placed everything in the proper places I designated. The move was done in advance of the projected time-- saving me money. And on top of just doing a good job, they were really sweet young men. I appreciated that the most. Easy Mode. We had been calling around and estimating a service to move locally. We have a studio containing a significant number of delicate machines and antiques; a bad combination when trying to move yourself. Moving Ahead Services had one of the best pricing schedules, easy to use estimator (you just select the furniture you have and poof, you have an estimate), and offer insurance. Kristen called me right away and helped me through the insurance options (and they have one of the better available insurance policies, which was our greatest concern due to the nature of the equipment). They called ahead, reviewed the equipment, and made sure we were ready for move day. Jake, Brian, Rommel, and Victor arrived at the scheduled time and hit the ground running. While Jake was discussing the logistics of the move, Victor was wrapping the antiques like flash, while Brian and Rommel started loading the truck. It was like watching a movie involving special forces where the team operates with precision, calls out signals to each other, and before we could blink, the truck was loaded. Once the truck arrived, the team put down carpet protectors, quickly reviewed where the items would be unloaded, and quickly, yet carefully unloaded. The four of them were efficient in two teams and made short work of the move. Then came the hard part; the arcade machine... weighing in at over 500 lbs. They were one of the few companies that did not back down from the challenge. Where others said it couldn't be done, they quickly weighed their options, made a plan, and were at it. Through the narrow stairs, sheets of ice, gravel, and a significant number of Pittsburgh stairs (all the worst conditions for moving a heavy object) they successfully moved the massive beast without breaking the fragile components and not even a scratch on the hardwood floors! Huge thank you to Jake, Brian, Rommel, and Victor. The entire team was professional through the entire move, even though we asked the impossible of them at every turn. And how could it get better? Due to the large number of heavy items the team could have taken longer, had breaks, and stretched it out; instead they came in under the scheduled time. True Pro's. We had an incredible experience with this moving company--truly top-notch and professional from start to finish. Austin and Shack helped with our move, and they went above and beyond. Austin was especially knowledgeable about our Sleep Number bed--he uninstalled it and set it back up at the new place with no hassle. We didn't have to lift a finger or even Google how it works. Both Austin and Shack were very prepared. They carefully wrapped our wardrobe, dresser, and bed, ensuring everything was protected. Not a single item was damaged during the move. This was a night-and-day difference compared to a previous experience we had a few years ago with one of their competitors, "Two Men and a Truck," where things were poorly wrapped and ended up damaged. This time, the process was smooth, respectful, and professional. They even went out of their way to help us move an extra item just out of kindness--something we truly appreciated. Before moving day, Kyle clearly communicated the pricing and explained everything in detail--no surprises. On the day of the move, their moving coordinator reached out to check if we needed any supplies, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, this is a very professional moving company with transparent pricing, excellent service, and a customer-first attitude. No hidden fees, and they're reasonably priced compared to others. I have moved dozens of times, several of those with corporate paid relocation, several where I've paid movers myself, and several where I've just rented a truck and gone. In our latest move, we had around 12k pounds of stuff; large house, family worth of stuff, plus a chunk of a woodshop. These were the best movers I've ever used. Damn well outstanding. They were friendly, well spoken, treated my stuff like I'd treat it, and moved more quickly than I'm used to seeing movers go while never risking wrecking stuff. There was a single set of scuff marks from getting something into the house, and they proactively *told* me about it so I wouldn't see it later and be miffed. As an example, it took four guys more than a full day to load the packed boxes into a truck. It took four guys a full day to load the boxes from the truck into an elevator up to the storage locker. It took Moving Ahead maybe five hours to load from locker to elevator to truck to house, which is why I said they moved more quickly than expected. We contracted Moving Ahead Services for our relocation, removing all household items one day, storing overnight and then delivering said items the next day. We had 5 movers that promptly called before their scheduled arrival time to communicate when they would arrive and when a mover had to leave the site for a family emergency, he was replaced within the hour to ensure they had the manpower to finish the job in the alotted times. All movers were professional and polite when interacting with my Wife and I and they treated all of our belongings with care, ensuring they were covered and wrapped when they needed to be. All in all, both days were finished ahead of schedule and I would recommend this service to anyone who is planning a move. read more

The move was excellent even in extremely cold weather/snow. I have hired a number of Movers in the past, and this was by far the smoothest and best move I've had. Their customer service reps were super helpful and responsive in scheduling the move and even providing last minute materials I thought I had but didn't. The cost was also very reasonable, particularly compared with other quotes I received in the area. The movers arrived on time and were very pleasant and kind. They moved all my furniture and belongings into my new home very efficiently and quickly. I had a number of awkwardly sized and/or very heavy pieces of furniture and they made moving them look easy! These guys completed a huge move for me and I could not be happier. The lead guy on the job's name was Scott he was amazing. They wrapped every piece of furniture. They brought wardrobe boxes on move day which made packing up our clothes a breeze.The absolute greatest moving company I've ever hired! They are really great and very experienced. The crew was awesome, really strong, hardworking and respective. Guys moved us very efficiently, very carefully and reasonably. I It was a complex move so I expected some issues, none were found :). I have used Moving Ahead Services for a move from Ohio in 2018 and again for items in storage in 2019. I additional used their services in 2020 for a move from an apartment and refereed them to family for a move in June of 2021. Most recently used them December 2021 for items from storage to a house of which the crew was professional, efficient and thorough. If I could I would give them 10 stars, I can't say enough of good things about this company from talking to them on the phone corresponding through emails or text, the most superb of courteous, proficient and outstanding customer service for moving. If I could give more stars I would! VERY professional grade A service. I was a little hesitant with hiring movers because i have had horrible experiences prior. Pieces of furniture that i knew would be a hassle they moved with no problem and no damage to items. All items were wrapped efficiently and with care. Money was found that my son hid and the movers made sure to give it to my mom. The integrity spoke volumes!!! I honestly cannot give these guys enough praise and accolades. Moving Ahead Services were amazing to work with! I moved from Pittsburgh to North Jersey and anytime you have an interstate move, there's added stress about things running smoothly. On both ends of the move, they called to let me know when they were about 15 minutes away and showed up within the time window provided in my estimate. The crew was great respectful of the furniture and walls and worked nonstop to move our furniture. My husband could not say enough good things about them. The estimate we were given for the job was lower than the actual cost of the move. It took 3 more hours than estimated. So expect a little more time than what the company estimates.
