The pricing was very reasonable and there were no surprise upcharges at the end of the move, which I have experienced with several other movers. What I was quoted is what I paid, which is not always the case with movers. The entire crew was courteous, professional, and took great care of my belongings. We used Moving by Marcus to pack a four bedroom home for a move from Illinois to Arizona. After seeing all of the negative reviews for the national movers, we opted to use U-Pack which has a great track record, but required us to find an expert at packing one of their trailers. U-Pack uses ABF for transport. The biggest knock on ABF is their trailers aren't equipped with air ride suspensions, leading to a rougher ride. This is what makes expert packing essential to prevent repeated jarring, jolts, and shifting..etc. We're nearly done with unpacking post-move and amazingly not one of our items is broken or damaged. They even knew the proper way to pack a tempurpedic mattress to prevent damage. Obviously communication, punctuality were top notch also. Don't hesitate to use Moving by Marcus. We got to see them in action before the move while we were downsizing - they moved a dining room set with a china hutch that we sold locally. It was impressive. We decided to use UPACK to save money. I booked 2 months in advance. Marcus responded quickly to text messages and by phone to help me prepare for our big move to MN by informing me how many moving blankets and tie down straps to purchase in advance. (and recommendations where to buy them). When the day arrived, they came promptly on time and packed the truck high and tight! Marcus was professional and prompt from our first phone call to the end of my elderly parents move from their long time home to an independent living apartment. He communicated extremely well and called the night before the move to make sure all was well. He and his crew showed up on time wearing masks and following Covid-19 guidelines. These guys are seriously the bomb! We have called on Marcus twice with short notice. Both times, we got great, friendly service at a great price. The first time, we were moving long distance and needed a truck unloaded. We called the day before and he was able to accommodate us. He and his team member arrived and got straight to work. They unloaded a crammed full 17' truck in no time and were SO nice! He was also able to give us some info about the area, which was really helpful. The second time, we were moving from one apartment to another and scheduled a couple of days ahead of time for them to load/unload a truck that we rented. Marcus actually remembered where we lived and who we were. That's SO refreshing these days when customer service is rare. Speaking of customer service - or lack thereof - U-Haul actually messed up and our truck wasn't available, so Marcus rearranged things and brought his own truck and trailer to move us. The apartment that we moved to was on the third floor, but that didn't stop him and his teammate from getting everything upstairs quickly and in one piece. I've moved many times and dealt with many movers. I haven't come across any that are even half as flexible, friendly and willing to go the extra mile as Marcus and his crew. Spoke with someone from the moving company on a Friday and asked if they could assemble a bunk bed and possibly a desk. I was asked how soon this needed to be done. I told them, as soon as possible, if possible. Two men came out the following Saturday morning. One of them stated they did not feel comfortable assembling a bunk bed and that someone else would come the next day or sometime during the week. I began looking for movers on Thursday for a move on Sunday afternoon. I found him listed on Yelp and saw a few positive reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. Marcus's team was the only group of movers available on Sunday, and he had no problem accepting the job at such relatively short notice. The job was to move a large three-person wood frame leather sofa, two oversized plush chairs (part of a set with the couch), and a queen-size mattress. These items had to be moved up to the third floor via an unusually narrow stairway. Marcus and his team were much faster than we had ever expected, and the whole job was done in ten minutes without a scratch. Moreover, Marcus was very personable, making the dreaded experience of moving pain-free and extremely fast (and our finances weren't stressed, either). Marcus and his team are AMAZING. They work with you the whole way through; we moved from LA to Bloomington, IL and used the UHAUL UPACK boxes. We got shafted by our original movers who flaked at the last minute. Then, the UHAUL woman wouldn't give us a clear time as to when she'd deliver the boxes. Marcus and his team stepped up in the our needing hour and communicated with us the whole way through. After the UHAUL woman wouldn't deliver in time, Marcus kindly rescheduled with us to come the following morning. He and his team were prompt, efficient, and kind.
