My go-to moving company for my many New York moves. Each time I stress about all my stuff, packing it, and it getting to the new place safely. And each time, my worries are relieved by the great moving service. Tricky items that were moved safely: 56" flat screen tv (myw packed), 2 monitors, 6 large plants (!!), washer, dryer, boflex 55lb weights x2, literal sand bags (25lbs)... etc. Up a 5 story walk-up! I liked these guys. two days from quote to move, and they were able to give me a reasonable cash quote up front. Igor and the guys did a great job. ground floor to 4th floor walkup, no complaints, fast and efficient, took a couple breaks but otherwise powered through the whole time. they kept me updated on arrival time and let me.know ahead.of time when they arrived early. they didn't have moving blankets but wrapped everything nicely in plastic. Two things to be aware of - their price per hour changes depending on walkup/elevator so be sure to clarify on the phone. also, they expect a 30% tip. I initially gave about 20% and they asked for 30%, (they were polite about it) so be prepared to pay a little more. However, their quote was lower than some other local companies. they did a great job so I was happy to fork over extra for the tip. they have a 3 hour minimum so are a great choice for smaller moves! some other companies have a 4 hour minimum. would recommend them and use again. they were good read more

The head of the crew was pretty grumpy at the size of my move and how many flights they had to carry things up, but otherwise the crew was efficient, polite, and most important, took great care of all my stuff. We had an unconventional NYC move, and Moving Your Way was awesome. Because of Covid-19, we are in a sticky limbo situation where we needed to move out of our old apartment but cannot move into our new apartment for the foreseeable future. We decided to order a POD storage container to be delivered to our apartment, loaded, moved upstate for a couple months, and moved back in to NYC when our new apartment is ready for move-in. PODs does not have its own moving/packing/loading services, so we contacted Pack & Load Services (another company PODs works with a lot and has a network of movers who are experienced at loading PODs), got all of the insurance certificates from Pack & Load, and Pack & Load contracted with Moving Your Way to bring the day-of guys to come wrap up our furniture and pack and load the POD. (This was a convoluted move, I know: PODs -- Pack & Load -- Moving Your Way.) Anyway, a couple bullets on why Moving Your Way was awesome: - SPEEDY: When you load a POD in NYC, you only have a 4-hour window to get everything in. Moving Your Way loaded our apartment into the largest POD container we could get, and they did it in 3 hours. Bravo. - CAREFUL: Fingers crossed that everything makes it unscathed in transit, but it seemed to me that all our stuff was wrapped carefully in shrink wrap and/or moving blankets, and they did a nice job making sure not to tape directly onto furniture that could leave tape residue. The POD was ratchet tied nicely at the end. The POD driver said he'd used Moving Your Way for POD loads before, and they do a good job. All in all, they imbued confidence that they did the best they could do, and I'm hopeful that our stuff is intact at the end to prove it. Being quick and careful during a move in Manhattan is about the best you can ask for, and a million times better than moving yourself or using a terrible moving company (we have done both). They say looking for an apartment + job are the 2 biggest stressors in the city. Imagine moving on the 1st of the month, other movers cancelling 3 hours before the move time due to the gas shortage, and having to find another mover the day after the hurricane. Enter hair-pulling time... No mover, no gas, no problem! Igor quickly got an insurance certificate to my new building and the guys were kind enough to help me with my move after doing 2 morning jobs. Mind you - this is post-hurricane times (ie no electricity / elevators). I labored in my own apartment packing the boxes and these guys were skipping - yes skipping - down stairs carrying 2-3 boxes at a time! And I'm no weaksauce, but these guys are machines!! I never felt pressured into tipping like some reviews state, but happily tipped 30% - it was an incredibly stressful situation and I was grateful for their professionalism and assistance. And they were friendly in their gruff way, jokingly saying "Hey, it's you again! Wow - you have more stuff again!" Dangit, I thought I purged. Ha. I used Moving Your Way last year for a big move the day after Thanksgiving. I know - I really pick the good moving days. They are amazing, but I joked with the guys - I sure as heck hope I won't have to see them for a while :) Oh - and they don't even take breaks, so if you're sitting around watching the truck or have an extra set of hands, a bit of kindness like getting some bottles of water, snacks or even sandwiches at the bodega goes a really long way. I was not happy with this experience. While Igor was very much on top of getting the crew there on time and the right location, once they arrived, everything was very rushed.They arrived a half hour early, and I told them I still wanted time to finish some preparations, but the guy who was heading the group insisted on starting immediately. I realized later that their goal was to finish the job in record time so they could knock off early: I paid for the three hour minimum, but they moved me along so quickly that it was finished in under two. So I paid for three hours, but only got two hours of actual moving. They were in such a hurry, that they basically dumped into random boxes all the stuff I wanted to pack carefully and label. They also packed up an important bag that I needed with my work materials, so I had to stop them and yell because they needed to find this backpack. While everything arrived safely, I was not happy with a company that calls itself "Moving Your Way," and finding out they were going to rush me along "their way." I would probably not use again. Revision: I would like to give them 0 stars - they sent me ahead to open my new place while they finished with the last few things in my house. I got a text an hour later that they left the front door and gate opened. Luckily, my neighbor saw that the doors were left open, and closed it for me. The good: They were on time and the owner, Igor was very reliable, kind and professional in his communications with me about the move. The movers did work hard and as quickly as they could to get the job done. The bad: Head mover was angry at me from the beginning, telling me the move was a 4 man job, not a 3 man job. (I didn't pick how many movers they should send, so not sure how this was my fault.) I was told I had "too much stuff." I had packed and wrapped everything myself (even emptying out already light-weight furniture) and was proud at how much I had done to get ready for them, so the criticisms were particularly upsetting. There was minor damage to some of my pieces and a banged up wall, which was fine but they should have informed me of it before leaving. They left a pile of packaging garbage on my front lawn, which I thought was not nice especially after I gave them a 40% tip. (Initially, I tipped 33%, but was told, yes TOLD by them to give them more. If there is a required/minimum gratuity, it should be stated up front. That being said, a 40% required gratuity would probably lead to them getting no business at all.) My family has always used this company (in fact, I have used them before with very positive results) but I think the fact that the job was bigger than expected made this an unpleasant experience for all. read more

I did quite a bit of research before hiring a mover. I was very hesitant, as I've never used one before. After reading in a local FB group, many good reviews for Moving Your Way, I inquired, and was quoted LESS than any other of the big movers around. I decided to go with them. I was nervous at first because they didn't require any money down/contract. It was all a verbal agreement. We agreed on an 8 am start time, and they called and confirmed 24 hours in advance that they'd arrive btwn 8-8:30. Morning of, they arrived at 7:34! Early, but good for us. It felt like my head was spinning with how fast they started. They wasted no time. There were 4 guys, and they made a perfect system to get everything down quickly. Did I mention we lived on the 5th floor of a walk up building?! Anyways, they HUSTLED. We moved from the East Village in to Ridgewood, Queens. There is almost 30 minutes driving time in between the locations. By the time they arrived in Ridgewood, unpacked the truck and moved into our new 2nd floor apartment, I looked at the clock, it was 10:34. 3. Hours. That's all. How? What? I expected more like 5+ for our fully furnished one bedroom apartment. Highly suggest Moving Your Way! read more

Yup. Just hired these guys AGAIN to move me from my four story walk up to another four story walk up. And I cannot overstate how much ass these guys kick. Actually had three of the same people after two years. For a moving company I think that says a lot. Just a great team. Again, super fast, super strong, very very careful and respectful of my stuff. No grumbling, no lollygagging. They are just awesome. Prices are really great. Give these guys a great tip because they seriously deserve it. To give some perspective: they emptied my apartment of 50 boxes, plus a table, bed, two dressers, two media tables, bookshelves, two 4x10 bass cabinets (big heavy things that electric bass players use to get the room thumping), random crap like fans and bike and just a ton of crap.... in under two hours. That was going down four flights of stairs (no elevator). They moved it all back up another four flights of stairs at my new place (still no elevator) in another two and half hours. Not a great experience. Communication with Igor during the quote process was good, but movers had not been told what we'd agreed to, which included some disassembly/reassembly and removing an AC. I even doublechecked when he called that morning that they would be prepared with the right tools, and they were not. When they got to the AC removal, they did it, but refused to put down the plastic I provided, and the main guy actually yelled at me over and over "this is not my job" and said I should not have listened to Igor. The other guys were generally nice and asked where I wanted things, but they they were pretty careless with the floors, dragging furniture instead of lifting it, and moved most of the furniture without any wrapping or protection. Also, they wore masks as promised, but didn't keep them up, even when we were in the room (or when they were shouting at me). read more

Guaranteed satisfaction here. They are no-nonsense in all ways. They take your location, tell you a time and they show up on time. There is not a big to-do about what you have, etc. They are going to send guys to get it done and you will get an hourly rate, that's it. They called me early in the day and said they could come in an hour, three hours early - sure. They arrived with 4 people, but I only had to pay for the 3 that they promised. As stated, the rate was $88/hr per person with a 3 hour minimum, $264. No complaining about weight, no complaining on the three flights of stairs on the way in, no issues with tight fits. One of the guys dismantled an exterior lamp in a hallway to make something fit through, then put it right back together. These guys are super efficient. I rode with them from NYC to Brooklyn Heights for delivery and they were totally friendly. I did not have a ton to move, but was fine with the three hour minimum + tip, which they deserved. By far the smoothest move I have ever experienced! Igor's people were great - they were on time and did not waste any time. They wrapped all of our furniture very securely, they put the bed apart and packaged it nicely, all art pieces, lamp shades was wrapped and packed very well. We had packed all our clothes and kitchen equipment the day before and it was ready in the boxes so it took maybe 2-2.5hrs to get the whole 1BR apt packed onto the truck. At the new place they put the bed back together, brought everything up swiftly and placed the furniture and boxes in their designated rooms. We were charged a far lower price than the quotes we got from other companies. We tipped 15% to each of the moving guys. All of them were nice, careful and polite. We used the company earlier this month for a two bedroom move. The guys showed up a little early and took care of all the logistics with the doorman to make sure they can start the move on time. They were very organised and worked non-stop. These guys were great! I was moving from Chinatown where parking is sparse (especially for a moving truck). They found a spot and I had to sit in the truck while they loaded it since it was a No Standing zone. Halfway through the move, there was a police standoff with injuries, guns pulled, and car smashing right next to the moving truck! The truck had to be moved to make way for ambulances, and the police closed the street off! Luckily they were able to find another spot a block and a half away. With all the chaos, frustration, and difficulty, the guys still managed to finish the entire move from Chinatown to BK in 3 hours!
