My hairdresser was unavailable for a root touch up so I cold called and spoke with Carol who quoted me $80 for the job. After the service I mentioned the color was too light and she insisted it wasn't. Even solicited a colleague's opinion (something I learned was common practice in salons with unhappy customers). She stated it looked lighter due to "the lighting " and sent me on my way up charging me an additional $30. Being uncomfortable and conflict avoidant, I paid and tipped 15%. When I got home I took pics of the color in various lighting. Instead of a gray streak, I had a light brown one. She offered to do a repeat however, I did not trust her judgement and gaslighting tendencies. Said I was willing to have a redo by the owner of the shop which she was non-responsive to. She offered a $90 refund less her "product fee". She never replied to my question regarding the price increase. Carol was delightful to converse with during the service rendered. She probably does a fine job with her normal clients. For me and this root job, she missed the mark. Her attempts to convince me it was the right color, just angers me. I communicated with the owner via text after leaving a few VM's. She apologized for the experience and had no comment regarding the increased price. I'm hitting the box and doing it myself if I'm ever in this situation again! read more

This was my very first visit to this salon. Super cute, self serve coffee available in real coffee cups , not disposable. The salon is cute and clean. My stylist was young but gave me an excellent, shorter haircut, that I really needed. She was friendly and did not over charge. Thank You Moxie for fitting me in your schedule so quickly! I made an appointment based on the great Yelp reviews for this salon. My stylist of over 10 years moved out of state, and I was looking for a new location to call home for cut and color. I've been using the same color formula of Aveda and Redken products for years with no issues. My previous stylist shared the formula with me, which I provided to Moxie for my appointment along with photos of the what the fresh color looks like. The day of my appointment, I started to get nervous. The color looked much different than normal prior to application, and my roots began to lift to a crazy carrot top color immediately after application. The result was my worst nightmare. The roots were really hot, like hot orange, with a bad line of demarcation. The ends were blotchy and/or striped with uneven color application, seen in the lighter and darker areas in both photos. Overall the color felt unnatural and was a far cry from the subtle auburn red I am used to. I know reds are tricky, but with the exact formula in hand and a consultation prior to the actual appointment, this should not have happened. The extra star is because the cut and styling were actually great. If the only service I had received was a cut and blow dry, this review would be much different. She did offer to correct the color at no charge, which I appreciate, however I do not trust this salon with my color. I would not return for another service. read more

I have been going here for about a year and I absolutely adore this salon. Karinna is my stylist and she is brilliant. She's incredible with color and cuts and has a diverse portfolio, she's always educating herself and stays up on trends too. She listens to what you want, provides feedback where needed, and is always down for adventure. Also, the pricing is hard to believe, she's incredibly reasonable for the amount and awesome work she does. The vibe of the salon is relaxed and homey, and they use top notch products too. read more

What a beautiful shop I got such a good vibe from the time I walked in and the receptionist immediately asked me, Who I was here to see and if she could get me anything:):) I was just there for a consultation, Which I didn't even have an appointment for. It was my lucky day to walk into this great shop and to get Kari, ( the owner). Kari walked up while I was blabbering, trying to explain what I wanted to the receptionist and that I had just got my hair done the day before. After a very long "Pandemic Hair Hiatus" I was back in the saddle, (ie. chair), which Unfortunately did not go so well. I had a special event to go to on Friday and I really wanted my hair to look great. My color has always pulled weird and is difficult & I hate brassy and that's what it was. Now stuck in the Drab Zone I'm expecting a stylist I don't know to fix my unknown hair Well Kari not only did just that but truly overdelivered making the sting of now having to pay for my hair twice, very manageable:) (Kari even blew dry my hair and trimmed my bangs..because I think she felt sorry for me..because that was not part of the price) What a SCORE! Miki is AMAZING! If there was another word to better describe how amazing she is, I would use that! I have been fortunate to be on the receiving end of her talent for 1o+ years. She has saved my hair from my own destructive hand more than once, I tend to want my hair dyed at a moments notice so I just grab a box... Eeek! And she always returns my hair to its former healthy glory! Over the years Miki has cut, colored (Several different colors), a Brazilian blowout, cut bangs (Which I have also decided I absolutely need cut at a moments notice more then once over the years!) and most recently she has put extensions in! Which I LOVE! She matched the extensions so perfectly to my hair color that sometimes I forget it's not my hair! Julz is a true artist, through and through. I put my hair in her hands and never look back because I know, no matter what the outcome is, its going to be one of her signature creations. And I am honored that I get to display her amazing talents on my hair. I don't think anyone else could have taken all my crazy, seemingly impossible requests and made them into even better creations than I could have imagined. My hair has lived a wild life and has many a rich stories to tell. It has been brought back from the dead and given new life in many different shapes and forms. I have Julz to thank for that. My wife is in love with this place. Star did a great job on her hair and made sure her consultation matched the results. She was very friendly and customer service was at a premium. Blake was up front and we met her first. She was professional, courteous, and had a smile that was welcoming to every customer. She offered a complimentary drink as well while I was waiting for my wife. Parking is on first or Ventura. Depending if the Farmer's market is going on it is a non issue. Was really looking forward to getting my hair done here but unfortunately it didn't work out. I should have known when I went in for my consultation when the lady in front didn't even acknowledge my existence bc she was busy talking trash about someone on speaker phone and my hair stylist was 15 minutes late without warning. I shrugged it off and now here I am at appointment day and can't get my treatment done bc it wasn't in stock but only finding out an hour prior to my appointment - and only because I called to ask if I should fully wash or not. The stylist didn't save my number and blamed the front for deleting the call log (way to take responsibility). I planned my whole day around this appointment and it's extremely frustrating that everything is so disorganized and the lack of communication - no one ever answers the phone either. I called her back because I was in the shower and of course - no answer. If this is the way they operate I can only imagine how my actual service would have been. Saved by the lack of service I guess - 10/10 would not recommend. read more
