This is my first review on Yelp and I came into this salon with high hopes of getting my hair to look a close to my reference photo as possible. Ended up with red hair and terribly placed highlights. Hollie didn't do a proper consultation with me, didn't ask if i wanted permanent hair color or not. Found out she used permanent hair color and after addressing that I was very unhappy with the results she did not want to refund me or fix my hair, she wanted to charge me to fix it on top of that... Her attitude and demeanor is very unprofessional and unwelcoming.. I ended up having to fix my own hair at home with dark brown dye all over when that's the last thing i wanted to do. Family Cuts & More is an excellent hair salon for men, women, and children located in the Ponderosa North Shopping Center on Pickwick Drive in Camarillo across the street from the Post Office. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and skilled. I've been satisfied with every haircut I've had there. In addition, their prices are great and very competitive with the big chains. And they offer discounts to seniors and military members. Also, many local flyers have discount coupons that can be used during weekdays. They did a major style revamp on my haircut and blew it out for me. I was very happy with the results. What was even more impressive was the constant complements total strangers gave me about my haircut. I called to make an appointment for my 3 years old. I first asked if they cut little girls hair which she said yes. My husband ended up taking her. When he arrived they question who he booked with. The staff just placed him with the older woman whom was available, but they did ask her if she could handle it or not. She said she could. She was very hesitant in cutting her hair and asked my husband to tell my THREE year old to sit still. She couldn't handle it. I get that some hairdressers aren't comfortable with cutting certain people's hair. But come on. And to add, she washed my little girls hair. She wet her whole back, including pants and underwear. My poor baby. I've never been somewhere where they wash hair on a child. Needless to say, stay away from this woman, I didn't get her name but please just say no if you can't handle kids. She didn't cut my little girls hair in the end, another very nice woman did. So thank you for that. read more

This is my to go place now. Inexpensive and friendly hairdressers. No appointment is needed but if you want to see the same person who did your haircut, I suggest you make a reservation. One good thing about this place is that they give you this card where they stamp it each visit - so your 10th haircut is free!!! I took a star off because I had hair color done here but it burnt my scalp. One suggestion is to bring your own color. I don't know how they do with adult cuts but this is based on my 4 year old's cut. First of all, we arrived when there wasn't a single customer and with 3 women employees there no one said hi or welcome. Service seemed a bit cold. The lady who cut my daughter's hair didn't talk to her once and when dealing with children you would think they would have a more friendly approach. They charge the same for children as an adult which seemed unfair since they don't even style or dry. Next time I will make the farther drive to the children's salon in Northridge where they know how to treat customers, give treats, toys,a balloon plus a cute braid with clips for the same price. read more

I called to ask for a recommendation on which haircutter(s) would be more detail-oriented and careful explaining that I didn't have the best result in the past. The woman who answered said she would not do that and that I might want to find another place to get my hair done. I called back to ask her name and she identified herself as Holly, the owner. I'll be taking my business elsewhere as she suggested. The owner has been closeminded and dismissive both in her phone call with me and her comment to my post, thus providing poor customer service. My experiences were as follows. 1) a hair color different than what I asked for; I asked for blonde but not too light. After the color was applied I said it looked dark and asked the stylist what color it was thinking perhaps it was the lighting in the shop; she said light brown. I went to another place to fix it and it looked much better. 2) I went in for a haircut with a different stylist, had an appt and the haircutter was busy with another customer; she took me 15 minutes late, no apologies, no "hello", greeting or friendliness of any kind. I asked for a simple cut, rounded in the back and angled on the sides. It didn't look like that was done, but when I asked her about it she confirmed she had done what I asked. I did my best to fix it myself when I got home. That is why I asked for a recommendation on which haircutter(s) would be more detail-oriented and careful. If the owner had not been dismissive and impolite, I would not have felt the need to add to the other one-star reviews from people who had similar experiences to mine. To say that all her stylists are phenomenal is clearly untrue. The owner even acknowledges instances of poor service provided in her response to other one-star reviews. read more

Mina is very nice but had an off day I guess is a good way to put it and completely cut off my sideburn on one side of my face and didn't say anything about it. I have a beard too. Of course I couldn't really tell until after I left because of wearing a mask that I realized that she completely cut off one side of my sideburns. I LOVE Family Cuts. I have been going here exclusively (okay, with one exception) for about 5 or 6 years. I have always gotten Deyanita but this last time was Mina and she was great too. I always get my hair shampooed (which is my version of a spa day, lol) and the cost is HALF or even less than what fancy salons charge. She listened to what I wanted, then...Tada...my cut was finished with precision. I left just after 5:35 PM. They close at 6:00 PM. I looked fabulous and was so impressed, I recommended Deyanita to my mom, aunt, and grandma. I will also tell my friends about her over the weekend.
