I walked into the salon for my appointment with Lia. I was 12 min late. The receptionist gave me a very mean look and asked who I was there for. She then said Lia couldn't see me because I was15 min late. I told her it wasn't quite 15 min and could I speak with Lia. She went back and asked Lia in which she declined to talk with me. I explained I wouldn't need a haircut but needed help in deciding what products to buy. Lia came out after the second time I asked for her. She came out glaring at me. Very very rude. I kept my positive energy going and bought $300 of product. I will never go back in there again. Lia is trying to charge my card for $95 for a haircut I didn't get. I do not recommend them. There are so many great places in Ventura and Westlake. Vibe was way off. Bad energy. No thank you. I love this place! From the moment you walk in they greet you and ask if you'd like an iced coffee or something to drink. ( I love their iced coffee drinks). She helped me decide between two hair colors and even considered which one would look better with my skin tone! Lexi is a hair god I've been to multiple salons in the surround areas and never found one that I loved. I was honestly quite nervous the first time I came as I had just moved home and was in need of a color and cut. I choose Haven because they were one of the few salons that offered Davine's products ( first sign that they knew what they were doing). Upon sharing with Lexi the shades I was thinking of she got to mixing and all I can say is WOW. She matched the color perfectly and gave me that warm Carmel note I was aiming for. Since then I had scheduled a second appointment and she did not disappoint again, creating the look that I had envisioned. I came into Haven Salon in May to get my first ever balayage. Prior to my appointment I had beautiful waist length silky Asian hair. I asked my stylist for a natural seamless balayage, something very low maintenance that would still look beautiful after 6 months of growth. After spending nearly $400 this is what my hair looks like after only 2 months. Honestly, I am shocked I paid $400 for my hair to be ruined. You can see that my roots are extremely patchy and boxy to the point that I'm embarrassed to go out in public. My ends are so fried that I'll probably need to cut at least 3 inches. I usually never leave reviews but after finally healing my hair from this hair disaster I'm hoping this review will prevent anyone from going through what I experienced. I went to haven to get extensions for the first time (I've never had any form of extensions ever) to help grow out a weird haircut. I found haven through Yelp + social media and saw that they were NBR certified which was the extensions I was interested in. I decided to go with Ashley because I liked her style of coloring and saw that she was newly nbr certified (found out at my consultation that she was still in the process of finishing the course). Long story short I found out later from getting my hair fixed by another stylist that I was charged the rate of a stylist with years of extension education + certification at a top salon for the service and hair. But again, I didn't know any better this was my first experience with extensions. I was told they would be tight and feel a little uncomfortable but that this would go away. What I wasn't told is how DAMAGING it can be to have 2 1/2 heavy rows of hair extension too tightly sewn into your hair. My gut told me this wasn't right but again, I'm not the professional so what do I know. But after the first week I noticed I had little bald spots + scabs where my extensions were and started to panic. I had two more move ups and asked to have some hair removed and as a stylist she had to have seen the tension alopecia all over my scalp but she said nothing. At this point I have multiple spots all over my head and went to another extension stylist at a different for a consultation because what was supposed to be something to help grow my hair out and "non damaging" had now caused lesions all over my head. Through the other stylist I learned that there was WAY too much hair attached to my head and my beads were done too tight causing my scalp + hair to be in extreme distress and she recommended I remove them as that day. Thankfully the hair has grown back in and I've had extensions since then without bald spots or lesions and my hair has healed from this TRAUMATIC experience. Please do your research and make sure you're going to someone who is fully certified and genuinely cares about your hair and scalp health. read more

Would give 0 stars if I could. The owner Lexi is unprofessional and horrible at what she does. She has little to none experience with NBR extensions- she caused extreme damage to my scalp by not knowing the correct method on how to put the extensions in my hair. Multiple lesions on my scalp due to this, bald spots on my head, as well as chunks of hair from the extensions falling out on multiple occasions which I was having to replace with every visit. (EXTREMELY COSTLY) also spent $2,900 with her for new extensions and was given back stock hair she had that did not match at all. ( I am blonde and was given extensions for red heads mixed with blonde, because she did not order new hair for me she just used what stock she had which did not match nor blend) Lexi was extremely unprofessional every time I had an issue with my scalp being in intense pain or my hair extensions shedding. After making her aware of the condition of my hair and scalp she made no attempt to fix it, instead she offered me other salons to go to that can fix her mistake- THAT is one thing she deserves 5 stars for. Lexi is the owner of the Haven salon and gloats about her customers satisfaction being a priority, I was really expecting a better experience with her... Also it was brought to my attention she has NOT graduated from the academy, therefor could really benefit from more schooling. To be honest I was dissatisfied with the service with Tieler. I felt that I was double charged in my first two visits. I had messaged her the same day of the first appt saying I was unsatisfied/didn't see the difference in my hair (partial balayage, paid $200). Instead of Tieler C. being accommodating and correcting her work at no cost, I was charged another $200 to get the highlights I wanted. So I ultimately paid $400 to lighten my thin hair. I just recently went back to Tieler C. for crown highlight/toner and I was again disappointed (paid $135). I sent Tieler pictures and she agreed it should be fixed but was not accommodating to correct it without charge $$. Needless to say, I will not be going back to her. read more

I had gotten a haircut elsewhere a couple months ago but was really dissatisfied with it. I called and asked if they have anyone on staff that specializes in short hair, as most of the images on their IG or website seemed tailored to extensions or long hair. The receptionist set me up with Mary, who upon my arrival offered me a drink and listened to my concerns about my current cut. I showed her a couple pictures and she made a recommendation. Haven is a very new, modern, upscale hair salon. ALL of the decor is SO freakin' beautiful. I felt like i was in a salon shown in an interior design magazine. Terrible! Very unprofessional and have NO scheduling organization. Be aware your appointment can be canceled, even if you give you credit card to hold an appointment. This salon apparently doesn't appreciate new customers!! The stylist who canceled my appointment less than 24hrs before my appointment said I'm not a regular customer of hers so she'd have to prioritize her current customer be for me. Then went on saying it's a personal matter my she canceled me. Which is it? Regardless I'm upset because I should have been asked for my personal information if the appointment was not confirmed. When I asked to speak to a manager or the owner I was told neither was available and they they would give my information to the owner. Truthfully what a waist of my time. I followed Lauren to Haven, and she's the best! The salon is always clean and bright, tastefully decorated, and staffed with friendly faces. Lauren is just about the only person I would let touch my very fine and limp hair. She has always been great about tailoring her work to the reality that we are dealing with. She knows so much about hair, and how to care for it - it's a learning experience each time I go. Every haircut or color I've ever had was exactly what I asked for, or better. Lauren recently worked some sort of black magic on me, and added the most natural-looking, easy, and fun NBR extensions. I love it! I never thought I'd have them, but they're worth every penny. TLDR: Decor was basic but cute, service was awful. I really wanted to love this place and was so excited for this hair cut appointment but it would be remiss of me to not express how I felt after this appointment and even sleeping on it. From the very beginning I was having a lot of issues booking an appointment on the website, and calling and no answering. The voicemail greeting said they were closed due to Covid but I was confused because I saw recents posts on the salon Instagram. I proceeded to message the IG account and also did not receive a response. Finally, my sister sent me the owner info to DM her and I was able to book my appointment. The day of the appointment came. I don't know if the owner (who I booked my appointment with) was having a bad day, or was upset I was 10 minutes late or that her assistant wasn't available to help her, but regardless of the issue it wasn't the warm, friendly welcome I was expecting for being a new client. When I say this was the quickest hair cut of my life, my goodness. I was in and out of there in about an hour, and I don't mean that in a good way. My hair was quickly washed, and then I was told that it was washed 3 times due to the build-up from my curly hair products. Again, this is the quickest wash I've ever had in my life and I feel like if there was an issue with build up it was most likely due to the lack of attention in a proper wash. Next was the cut. Even after the initial spray of detangler or whatever was used, my hair had a few knots. Instead of adding more detangler spray to help lessen the tugging, it just continued. The first tug, ok, the second, annoying, but the third tug was like wow. Then the blow dry proceeded to have a dry hair cut. Pretty basic of a haircut even though I specifically said I wanted some layers and and my bangs again to lighten my hair at the beginning of the consultation. Once the cut ended and I was asked if there was anything else I needed cut, I said my bangs because I still did not have any. She fixed that up and left it and at that. I didn't even realize we were done with everything until she began to remove the robe and told me she would be waiting for me to check out. I was shocked because my hair was not styled, I was never asked how I liked it styled, or given any hand mirror or anything to ask if I was happy with the cut. I'm used to being asked how I liked my hair at the end of the cut and how I like it styled, whether straight or curled/waves and it was simply blown out. Not even a finishing serum or spray was added to help with the frizz. The most shocking part is that I had this appointment with the owner and I really expected this to be a more positive experience as a new client. Heck, I was hoping to even come back and have my hair colored here. I also mentioned how depending on how the appointment would go, I was going to recommend my sister to be a client as well who was equally excited about this salon. Honestly, I felt like the priority was to get me out of there as quickly as possible and make sure she had time to attend to her Dad who was her next appointment and get to lunch rather than providing a fun, exciting experience getting my hair done. This just really bothered me and I did have to take the time to write this review. Unfortunately, I won't be returning nor did I recommend to any of my sisters or mom to ever go there. Made an appointment with this salon at the recommendation of my significant other who delivers to them. I waited a month which was painful since COVID abs I had been in real need. I received a call two weeks prior asking if I couldn't push the appointment to an early time ( over an hour ) as Lexi had a gap in her schedule. I really didn't want to as I work full time and the new time was at 1:30pm. But, I needed my cut and color. The day before the appointment I received a call the day before once again asking if I could come in earlier again to 1pm as Lexi had another gap in her schedule. I explained this would be hard. I had been waiting a month for this appointment and they keep on rescheduling to an earlier time which was not doable with my work schedule. To be honest I was not happy, if I am going to wait a month for Lexi to see me she surely can try to meet me halfway here - or just not allow the appointment time to be selected in the first place over a month earlier. I cancelled my appointment stating this would no longer work for me and I would have to go to another salon altogether. The receptionists just stated "ok I'll let Lexi know". I guess COVID isn't really hurting them that much since they don't care about new customers. I will be sure to not recommend this salon based solely on their unprofessional behavior. Go see Michal! (Pronounced Ma-Kyle). I have been seeing Michal for more than 12 years. I first met her when she was working and living in San Diego. Trying to save money but wanting a drastic change to the color of my hair, I decided to box dye my almost totally blonde. I wanted to go from Barbie blonde to a deep, rich brunette, in one day. Using.box.color. But hey! All the TV commercials said it was possible, so what could go wrong!? EVERYTHING. Everything went wrong. The box dye not only fried the f*ck out of my hair, but instead of it turning from blonde to brown it went from blonde to black with a greenish tint. I wish I was exaggerating. After using a full bottle of shampoo to lighten the disaster on my head to no avail; I called a salon close to me and explained the emergency situation. Luckily for me, they were able to get me in that same day, that's when I met Michal! It was a long time ago but I remember going into the salon when it was light out and didn't end up leaving until the salon was closed and it was pitch black out. I screwed up my hair so badly that it took at least 5 hours and the opinions of a couple other stylists to fix it. Michal was able to un-f*ck my at home attempt and we've been together ever since! This goes without saying, that was the first and last time I ever tried coloring my hair at home, don't listen to the commercials, they lie! Anyways, Ive been seeing Michal appx. 6 times a year for 12 years, that's a minimum of 72 appointments. During this time I've wanted my hair to be every color under the rainbow, black, platinum, pink, dark roots, blonde ends, red-but usually it's "I want as blonde as you can go," then the next appointment "I want to go as dark as possible" She has spent hours and hours patiently taking my hair through the entire color spectrum because I literally want a different color every appointment. Despite me being the definition of a pain in the ass client, Michal has always done a fantastic job making my hair look beautiful. There's been appointments that have taken several hours and I'll admit I start to get cranky, but she never does! She's the one on her feet for 10 hours a day but I'm the one complaining because I have to sit still. This is starting to sound like a weird love letter instead of a review. Anyways, I think she is going to be a great asset to Haven Salon. She's so friendly and great at what she does, you'll love your hair after every appointment. 12 years and I can't think of a time where I didn't leave the salon looking perfect! I like her so much I drove up from San Diego, got my hair done; then sat in hellish LA traffic for 3 hours. I've never seen so many cars. I booked a appointment with Blayke 6 weeks ago to get my hair colored and cut. My former hairdresser who moved out of state gave me the formula for my hair color. I gave the formula to the receptionist to give to Blayke.(my new hairdresser) The receptionist and another hairdresser told me my color was not and problem and they would pass it along to Blayke. Today, a day before my appointment the salon called me and said they can not do my color. I've had this appointment for 6 weeks, it's the holiday's. I also have a event to go to on New Year's Eve. Wow. The customer service is beyond what I have experienced at any salon. Ever. I went in and requested a service that took about three hours. I left feeling discontent with the outcome therefore I decided to reach out to see what could be done to remedy the situation. The owner, Lexi, put me in touch with the stylist right away. The stylist reached out and immediately scheduled another session with me and was so gracious about helping me reach my hair objectives. Okay first off, because of Covid I'm super anti-social now and was nervous to go in for my appointment. But as soon as I walked in, I was greeted so well and offered beverages and a super comfy couch to hangout on while I waited (which was only about 4 minutes), immediately felt comfortable. Then, of course I had to Snapchat the decor because it was absolutely beautiful. So bright, fun, and welcoming. I had an appointment with Lauren and she did amazing. We're in the process of making my hair something I've wanted for a long time and she's doing such a good job. Got a nice little neck massage while in the process of washing my hair. We Talked the entire time and scheduling for another appointment was super quick and easy! I also purchased some really awesome products from them as well. 10/10 would recommend.
