I have to say, visiting Lacrosse over 40 times in my life already and staying at multiple hotels, THIS is the hidden gem of the area. The outside tiki bar is where you can legit stay all day and night, with volleyball courts , lots of outside seating, they had a DJ this last Friday. Great service . Extremely unique and worth your time to come too! The food is ok. That's the only reason I'm not giving 5 stars, I ordered some boneless wings along with some other stuff, never got utensils or napkins. Also a word of warning, if you come on Friday or Saturday, expect this place to be PACKED, which it should be! When we come back in 2 years we are no doubt coming back here all week again! Editing review to 3 stars since I wanted to try their food again to give them another try. I ordered over 2 hours and 15 minutes ago, only to find out they aren't even cooking. The bartender who I saw working the last 3 nights was helpful and gave me a refund and drink tickets, but now I'm ordering somewhere else, quite annoyed.

The bar area with live bands!

What a fun place we stumbled into on our stop over. It had live music which was really fun. People were dancing and having a great time. The food was good, we had the cheese curds (because well, we are in Wisconsin) and pizza. Both were delicious. Only reason it got 4 stars was the wait on the food. It took over an hour, but I think there was a mixup with our order. Definitely try it if you like live music! Fun place.

Had a long Labor day weekend with my cousin at the attached hotel where Moxie's is located at the rear of the hotel on the river, I really liked the location. There were yard games, that was pretty popular. Lots of seating options.I only ate here once we shared the nachos, they were super yummy! I thought the prices were good. Had drinks there every night. We had a great time! 2 serves were really good, and 1 not so much though. It was fun watching the boats coming up and down the river, parties of people coming off the water. We heard a different band every night, so much fun! People where having such a good time here, and room to dance. I think there were 3 tables with firepits. It was the end of summer so just the outdoors was open. But in the cooler months, there is indoor seating. The hotel leaves something to be desired, but I would stay there again just for the bar and location.

Wifey had a hamburger with a slice of raw onion. I went with the cheeseburger, pepper jack and a slice of raw onion. Split an order of seasoned fries. Burgers were large, guessing 1/3 to 1/2 a pound, coarse ground beef cooked perfectly for us. Fries were piping hot and nicely seasoned. Everything was excellent. Food came hot to the table. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend without any reservations. Will head back on a Friday for the fish fry.

Before you walk in, take a moment to study the rough-hewn, hand-carved columns outside. Cool. I…read morewonder who made them but didn't bother to ask anyone about their history. Inside, it's all lodge-like knotty cedar on it's high ceiling and walls, and while that may not be novel for this part of the state, it is especially good quality, well-maintained, and nicely designed compared to the interiors of many of the other well-worn taverns in the area. However; that does not carry over to the bar seats that are well worn-out and held together with electric tape. So who cares, no one can see it once their butt is firmly in place. Highly recommended: Prime Rib breakfast every Saturday and Sunday from 8a.m. til 12 p.m. Tender, juicy, lightly browned, served with tasty au jus, eggs your way, and hash browns made "special" with the addition of onion and melted cheese, on request. Noteworthy touches: an adorable, elderly poodle mascot behind the bar, a lazy calico cat with her name embroidered on her own stool, and customers are welcome to bring in their well-behaved pups, as well; I would be remiss not to mention a small but adequate selection of slots in a side room near the screened back door. The requisite beer and alcohol are available but served in plastic "glasses", so do like the natives and drink beer from the bottle. Full, decent quality pub grub menu. Ask the bartender for directions to Trader's tiki bar and food on the adjacent camp grounds on the Wisconsin river. It's called an island and it has the vibe. If the upscale, aggressive bar scene in Chicago is beginning to seem more chore than it's worth, the quasi-dive/restaurants and supper clubs strung like wooden beads on a coir chain along the by-ways of this close-in Driftless Region (Google it) of Wisconsin are well worth the scenic, pastoral drive and time--especially if you're not looking to hook up, fall in love, get married, and have kids. It's simply a great way to unwind, relax, and just be yourself by yourself, with your best buds, or SO--and return home with change for your ten-spot jingling in your pocket.
