From my time at Moxies, I'd fully recommend them for either a chill yet upscale dinner or an afternoon happy hour. Their Happy Hour has a lot of great options. I got the mule and asked for yuzu syrup which I really enjoyed. The apps were also pretty decent! The tajin was a nice addition to the guacamole that elevated the dish (tho there was a lot on it). This restaurant seems to be a popular spot among the regulars, especially regulars popping in for a drink or two during Happy Hour. I, for one don't drink, and decided to give this place a try for its food and dining experience. I suggested the spot to my daughter because she really wanted to take me somewhere for Father's Day, although a belated one. The restaurant is easy to get to and I suggest taking the Metro instead of driving there because it's on-street parking only. I'm just going to say that I was expecting better and was disappointed with my experience. After being seated, it took an unreasonably long time before anyone came to the table to greet us or even take our order. Both of us felt completely overlooked. I didn't want to get up and raise a scene because I was trying to be on my best behavior with my daughter sitting across from me. Once we finally got some type of service (a glass of water and a menu....YAY) the staff was polite and the food was decent, which is why I'm giving two stars instead of one. However, the long wait to be acknowledged really set the tone for the rest of the meal for me. Hopefully the restaurant can improve its attentiveness because first impressions do matter. read more

The space is well laid out with two distinct vibes: bar and high top seating on one side that feels social and lively, and a quieter more intimate side with booths. Our party of six fit comfortably which is always a win. While waiting for my crew I ordered the dumplings l, solid, enjoyable, just didn't quite wow me. Main course was steak frites with truffle fries, a classic done right. Steak was cooked well and a quick check around the table confirmed the rest of the party was equally satisfied. Service was attentive and moved at a good pace which matters when you're catching up with people and don't want to chase down your server all night. I work in Arlington, so I came with a coworker for a dinner and drinks evening. The place is much bigger than you'd expect, but it was packed nonetheless. I made a reservation, so we had a table, but there were a decent amount of coworker happy hours that made things a bit chaotic. The staff are super sweet, all women waitresses and hosts in black skirts. The calamari wasn't fried enough for me, but the nachos stole the show. The drinks were super good too. Happy Hour Review! As a dedicated football fan, I can officially seeing myself coming here to catch a few games on the screen. They have over 10 televisions and you're welcomed to ask for your game to be shown on one of them. Guest service was excellent! A rockstar with excellent recommendations for drinks and small bites. I started off my happy hour solo and sat in the bar tabling area. The ambiance was beautiful and I enjoyed watching the bartenders mix up speciality drinks for guests. I later transitioned to a booth table area once my boyfriend joined me. HH Drinks ranged from $6-12 and the selections will blow you away...a steal in DC!!!!! I ordered the espresso martini which was delicious but the star of the show was the Aperol spritz, which I continued drinking throughout the evening. HH bites were $12 with limited selections. However, the plates are shareable. I ordered the Thai chili chicken and the pork potstickers (veggies available). The pork stickers were really good. Freshly prepared and well balanced with a delicious mango salsa which welcomed sweetness to your palate and soy sauce for a bit of savory notes in each bite. The star of show however, was the Thai chili chicken bite. OMG! This dish is what you call culinary genius! It's sooooooo good and the balance of flavors is proof of that. The chicken was nicely diced and lightly fried then topped with a well balanced sweet/spicy sauce. Then to complement the dish, they added their house special wonton chips which carried a beautiful nachos flavor. AMAZING all around! And yes! The wontons are refillable! I found Moxies on OpenTable after looking for the perfect spot to celebrate part 1 of my birthday weekend with my girls. Much like Miss Knowles, I needed an Act 1, 2, and 3 to celebrate my season. The description online said that this spot was "modern, classy, and vibrant". I'm happy to report that Moxies lived up to all of that and then some. As soon as I entered, I was greeted with a complimentary glass of prosecco and birthday wishes from the beautiful staff...what a lovely touch! They even threw in a free dessert for the occasion. I told them they'd easily get 5 stars on Yelp from me for that alone lol ;). Luckily, the menu left an even better impression on me. It happened to be restaurant week when we visited (another bonus of being an Aquarius baby) and we had the chance to sample several items amongst the group. From the potstickers, hot baked crab dip, chicken madeira rigatoni, miso ramen, and steak frites- everything was melt in your mouth good. Bonus points to the white chocolate brownie... absolutely delectable. Overall, Moxies was perfect from start to finish. The food was amazing, the interior was gorgeous, and the restrooms were pristine. Details that matter, ok!? To top if off, they treated me like an absolute princess during my special day and made me and my guests feel truly cared for. I'm already planning a return visit. I went back to Moxies to watch the NBA finals and the service was even worse than the first time I went. My friend and I sat at a high top near the bar and ordered drinks and guacamole. We watched as our drinks got warm sitting on the bar for maybe 10 minutes before we asked someone to bring them over. There are multiple TVs around the bar that are good for watching with a small group. The cocktails were tasty but took a while to come out. Service was so incredibly slow. It took so long to order mains and additional drinks. Our waitress would just randomly disappear. We arrived at 6:30 with a reservation and didn't leave until 9pm since everything took so long. Food was quite mid. Appetizers were decent, nothing special. My mahi sandwich was incredibly dry and had no flavor. The salad was floating in dressing. My partner ordered the chipotle mango chicken that was also very dry and the chipotle rub was clumpy. The quinoa didn't make sense with the dish, "it looked like a tower of dark brown." The service here was so good it reminded me what service was like pre-COVID and made me somewhat mad that so few places even try like the folks at Moxies. I'm so mad I didn't get staff names because they were incredible. We walked in on a warm spring day, asking for a high chair for our two year old and to sit outside. Usually that gets eye rolls or sighs. Instead, we were told exactly how many people were in front of us and we were told we could sit and wait. We were immediately offered prosecco and a toy for my kid. From there folks walked by, clearly busy, and still made time to check if we needed anything. My son was even offered tortilla chips which made his day. Once seated, we were immediately met by a server who I presume was the manager, who takes our order and promptly comes back with my drink and the kids meal. I know I'm gushing about the service because it was that good, but the food was so great too. Highly recommend the crab dip and the blackened mahi! The Fusion old fashioned with Japanese whiskey was great too. Anyway, thank you to everyone at Moxies for being so kind to us in DC, which is often not super friendly to families eating out. Finally tried this place with coworkers for happy hour. We walked in and the staff immediately made us feel so welcome and got us a table even with our group of 6 without reservations. They did ask us if we could be out by a specific time for a reservation, which was no problem, but they ended up adjusting tables without us knowing to let us stay past our allotted time. For future reference, it was quite packed for happy hour so better to be prepared next time. The food and drinks were delicious!! I had the margarita and we all split the Thai chili chicken, potstickers, and guac. All were delicious! I could've had the first two as meals. Although we didn't have anything from the regular menu I would imagine it would be just as good as the apps! The prices were very reasonable for the area. I have tried this place twice now and have been very disappointed each time. The quality of the staff behind the bar is all over the map (one day it was friendly and competent people and the second day it was incompetent and rude people). Also Moxies is selling wine that you can literally get across the street for 5% of the price (the Moxies markup is incredibly high and painfully obvious given proximity of a wine shop). And also bizarrely, there is always Moxies staff (including managers and bartenders) sitting at the bar having drinks and eating food during their break, and blocking seats for paying customers. I have never seen staff sitting at the bar every night to eat / drink while customers are there looking for seats. It is bizarre, especially at Moxies's price point. read more
