Anyway, Donna checked us in and she was so lovely and very welcoming. Our room was medium size and with plenty of room for two. Our room was decorated in an appealing retro 80's beach theme. The room was very clean and had everything one would need: towels, microwave, TV, WiFi, storage, and a large comfy king size bed with lots of pillows. Neskowin is a state beach park and the Inn conveniently has a couple of restaurants and a general store on the same property near the entrance and even a food truck (ice cream and waffle cones) and this place is only a minutes walk to the ocean and the famous proposal rock and ghost forest. If you like state beaches and like things conveniently situated, than give them a try.

This place is a bunch of independently open condos that go on a "rental program" so you never know a) how it will be decorated or b) what will be in the individual unit above and beyond the obvious features, bed, etc. Our unit was decorated in full beach decor, in fact, it appears that every time someone in the owners family bought a them a gift it was a shell or a picture of the ocean because the place was covered in them. (smile) All in all that added to the charm of this place. It was a condo so it had a full kitchen and we took advantage of that some of the time. The rest of the time we were hanging at the Hawk Creek Inn. In fact, one night while we were there, a friend that lived nearby had been out angling and gave us an entire crab to eat and a fresh (caught that day by him) salmon. There is a community barbeque grill that we were able to use in the parking lot are of the condo complex. Fresh salmon for dinner with a side of crab, well that couldn't be beat. The owners had a selection of currently released dvds to choose from so when, I unfortunately became ill with a horrible head cold and wanted to rest up a bit I could watch a dvd in the master bedroom while taking cold medication. I stayed here to attend a close friend's wedding, but instead of celebrating, I was forcibly removed from the hotel while trying to travel with my medical service animal. During the eviction incident, staff members filmed me on their personal devices while aggressively claiming my dog did not 'look like a service dog.' For context, I live with a severe, invisible cardiac condition (SVT) that causes dangerous heart rate spikes. My dog was trained to track my physical distress to ensure my safety. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), service animals do not require a specific breed or a mandatory vest. Management went so far as to hunt down my personal social media. They found a lighthearted, sarcastic inside joke I had posted for friends pretending to sneak my late mother's puppies into another while she was battling colon cancer, and tried to weaponize it as evidence of a 'history' to retroactively justify their real-time discrimination against a disabled guest. Being recorded in a moment of medical vulnerability, forced out during a wedding weekend, and ultimately cyberstalked by hotel management was way too far. It was absolutely devastating. I am sharing this so that other individuals traveling with service animals or invisible illnesses are aware of how this establishment treats its guests.

We were only there one night, but I have to tell you, it was a really nice hotel experience! I reserved the Family (fireplace) suite. The hotel has two floors and this was on floor 2. We had a nice roomy balcony with two chairs for sitting in while soaking in the beauty. The room itself was really large, with a king bed in the main and a queen, I believe, in a separate room. TVs in the main room and the bedroom. The fireplace was gas, gave off nice heat at night as it got chilly outside, and added to the ambiance. This hotel has breakfast! This was also a pleasant experience. They had the usual cereals and yogurts, but also had big waffles and biscuits and gravy! The food was good! We brought a bottle of wine ourselves, but I did notice they sell wine and beer in the lobby, which is nice, right? I definitely would (and will) stay there again the next time we are in the area. I forgot to take pics of the room itself. Sorry about that. You can check out their hotel website to see it. The next time I stay there I will fix this! The houses are pseudo cape cod that are so close together, a person has no privacy, and your kids can jump from roof to roof. We had one of the dogs allowed rooms (which they call "cabins") on the courtyard. It had wood-paneled walls and ceiling that made it feel like a ship's cabin, and vintage paintings of ships and other nautical touches to back it up. There were 2 rooms, a fully closing door between them, one with a king and one with a queen bed, and an adorable tiny kitchenette with a pretty tile backsplash. There were ceramic plates and mugs, glasses, and silverware, along with a tiny sponge and dishwashing soap to clean them. The bathroom had interesting tile. All the windows opened to catch the ocean breeze. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet all night. I slept great! The pet relief area is actually a nice little place in a parklike area behind the building near a fun hybrid mini golf-croquet course that looked fun to play but we didn't. I bet kids would love it. This area also has a firepit where you can build a fire and toast marshmallows and be maybe a little noisier than at one of the two firepits in the courtyard. S'more fixings are included in the room. The courtyard has an old boat as decoration, right next to a sandbox filled with toys. The amenities room has a large library of dvds and the rooms have dvd players to watch them with. There also earplugs, razors, toothpaste and brushes in case you need them, and a washer and dryer you can use for free. The restaurant has a small menu of pizza, wings, and salad, and a small bar. The beach is about 2 blocks away, then down a long, very steep set of stairs. I wouldn't recommend it for those with limited mobility, or for carrying a huge load of stuff for a day at the beach. But the beach itself is gorgeous, well worth the trek. We had good Chinese food from a restaurant down the street-- the bestnsalt and pepper tofu I've had in a long time, actually. In short, we stayed one night but this would be a great place to spend a few days relaxing, playing on the beach, and spending time with family or friends. I would love to stay here again someday.

When we got to Starfish Manor that is when we found out we were at the Nantucket Inn. We thought this would be an adventure since it is only a few blocks down the coast (what we were told). The trip was 20 plus minutes down to the other side of Lincoln City. The stars are steep and we had to go up four flights. I have a bad knee and actually tripped going up the stairs. It was not easy, but again it is an adventure. Then we found out that our keys to our room did not work. We called StarFish Manor to see if they had a room and they said no, so I stayed at the door of the hotel while my husband went to get new keys. About 40 minutes later he shows up and we walk in the room. The room was not work 200plus a night. It did not have the same view as the pictures and we were not happy. We called the front desk at the Starfish manor and asked for our money back or at least something for all of the inconvenience. He said he had to call the manager... about an hour later we found out they would not do anything and we were stuck. We said we will just cancel the room and go to a different hotel. To our surprise we were told we could not get anything back even if we canceled the room. We were so angry, went drove back the 20plus minutes returned the key and went to Nordic Inn instead. We called the manager and we were told that since we booked at https://www.onthebeachfront.com/ we could not get a refund. The front desk gentleman did refund our second night but we had to eat the first night. I emailed https://www.onthebeachfront.com/ asking for a refund for the first night and explained what happened and he said he would talk to his supervisor almost three weeks later, I have not received anything. I would recommend another hotel, because this company only wants their money, they do not care about their guest at all. I would understand if they had to take 10% or 20% since we went into the room, but to not reply to emails and blame that they cannot refund because of the website (this is the only website) is poor and horrible customer service. We have stayed about 10 times and when we went this last weekend, we wanted to stay there so bad. Even though the rooms are small and the tubs do not always work... but we refuse to go back to a business that treats their customers like dirt. I recommend the Nordic Inn, it is not as nice, but the views are better and they are half the cost!

We stayed in Room 6, the Family Suite and it honestly felt more like having our own little apartment. Kitchen, dining area, private bath, king bed...and that bed. I am not exaggerating when I say it may be the most comfortable bed and bedding I have slept on in a while. I wanted to take the whole thing home with me. The entire inn has this warm, quirky, beautiful old-coast-house feel to it. Soft jazz is playing in the background, there are little sitting areas everywhere, flowers and trees all around the property, and you just keep noticing new things every time you walk through. Our family suite was a fully equipped kitchen. It had most things you would need to prepare a meal, but the breakfasts kept us full most of the day. Again, breakfast was wonderful. Liz has a menu to choose from on a daily basis. I ordered three different meals and wasn't disappointed with any of them. And the soaking. Absolutely yes. Early mornings with a cup of coffee and the coastal mist, or under the stars with a glass of wine. Soaking and completely relaxing was one of our favorite parts. Didn't hear the other occupants most of the stay, and the place was fully booked. It felt very intimate and warm, even with other guests. Salmonberry has personality and charm. It's not pristine, it's lived in, but it's lovely. The owners have put their heart and soul into that place; and you can tell. It doesn't feel manufactured or like every other place you've stayed. We absolutely loved staying here and would stay here again without even thinking twice.
