I ordered the steamed clams and they were *gone* before it even cooled down. I will say though, i wish the cooks would make sure every clam still had meat in it before serving. We've been here 3 times and each time the hosts and waitresses are so insanely rude. If you aren't willing to sit at the bar, you're now one of their worst customers and they'll treat you like such. They also won't check on your table very often, if at all, so don't get too thirsty or want dessert. Their clam chowder is delicious, but maybe not worth the customer service. read more

Finally made it to McMenamins Lighthouse Brewpub! The last time we attempted to eat here, it was really busy and we were told that it would be a 45 minute wait for a table, so we went somewhere else. This time around, we were seated in an instant because it wasn't busy. We got a seat at a booth in the bar area. If it wasn't so chilly outside, we would've sat outside on their patio with their nice fire pit. Families are welcome here but they are usually guided to the upstairs dining room (I witnessed a few families with babies and small children go upstairs during our visit). Once we sat down, we were given a beer menu and a food menu to look at. The silliest, punniest name that I saw on their beer menu was their Julius Squeezer Cream Ale. I didn't notice this until after I ordered my beer, in which I got a Ruby Ale courtesy of Lighthouse Brewery. My boyfriend ordered their Terminator Stout, also from Lighthouse Brewery. The Ruby Ale was very fruity and had a hint of raspberry to it. As I've said in my previous beer reviews before, my boyfriend loves stouts and said that it was very chocolate-y. For food, I ordered their dilly tuna salad sandwich with fries and my boyfriend ordered their lighthouse fish sandwich with tater tots. The dilly tuna salad sandwich was SO good and I'm thinking of having this again next time we visit McMenamins. I tried so hard to finish it but I just couldn't do it. My boyfriend said that he enjoyed his fish sandwich and, unlike me, ended up finishing the entire thing all by himself. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. First visit. We were seated downstairs. Our booth seats were a bit crumb covered for my liking, but service was attentive and friendly. We ordered happy hour sliders, a Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and a slice of peanut butter pie. The salad was great, very flavorful dressing and fresh greens. While we were acknowledged upon entry, our desire to sit at an open booth in the downstairs bar area was apparently not an option. When my husband and I arrived, we were seated promptly, but shortly after, we had to wait quite a while before anyone took our drink order. The staff seemed a bit disorganized, and it was confusing when the server who seated us asked if we were sitting "back there," as if she didn't just seat us 10 minutes earlier. We also encountered a lack of service -- our server never came to take our order, and it was only another coworker who apologized and helped us. When our food arrived, our actual server, Katie, dropped it off but didn't check back or offer refills. We even had to go up to pay our bill because no one returned to assist us. What a huge disappointment. Waited around 7 minutes at the door to be seated. Waitresses walked by and said nothing, not even eye contact. Finally the bartender seated us. Once seated upstairs we were completely ignored. Waitress walked by several times but did not acknowledge us. No water offered no "I'll be right with you". Ignoring good paying customers is a bad idea. We love all the other McMenamins restaurants but this one needs staff training really badly. Had to walk out and glad we did. Came in on a pretty busy night it seemed like. didn't feel like waiting for a table so opted for the bar. Our bartender Daniel was outstanding! As someone who's worked as a bartender/waitress, I could tell he was super busy but he still made sure we were taken care of and our drinks were full and kept a smile on our faces! Y'all. COME ON. This was HANDS DOWN THE WORST experience I've EVER had at a McMenamins. We arrived at 7:37 on August 14, and the hostess said we could take the fire top table right out front. We sat down and at about 8:10 I asked the hostess if I should go inside to order at the bar because NO ONE had come to our table yet. So I went to the bar, told the bartender the issue and he took our order, brought waters out and apologized and also said he would transfer the ticket to the server because she should get the tip. When he came outside and saw where we were sitting, the table backing up to the stairs with a fire pit, he said "we don't serve at this table because it's crooked and there isn't room for plates. They shouldn't have sat you here." Okay so tell the hostess she messed up, make it right? When I finally saw the server again, she had stopped to get a drink order from a table that was JUST sat around 8:30 and asked if she was the server for outside; she said she was and I explained that we had been here for nearly an hour and had no service so we ordered from the bar. Now this was KEY to the evening tanking so please hear this. The server PROFUSELY apologized, told us she really takes her job seriously and was SO upset that we had such a bad experience so far and she was going to move us to a table, as our food had just come and she would take care of us. Food was warm/cool at best but I had two STARVING children and I was tired with a 2 hour drive back to Portland area. We ate and guess what?!?! She NEVER returned. Never glanced our way. The bartender came out and apologized again (which frankly, he did ALL the work that there was to do!!!) And said he would close our tab and when we were ready. Colossal fail on EVERY side here. The bartender literally saved us with at least food and drinks but no accomodation, drink or meal on them for their mistakes. I worked as a server and NEVER would have treated a table that way. I would have comped their meal, had my manager apologize and make sure everything was perfect once I had found out it was terrible. Service was an EPIC fail. Food was not good. Dear Management and Customer's I am writing to formally share my experience at your establishment on [09/01/2025 at 10pm] with my girlfriend. While we have enjoyed positive visits in the past, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing and unacceptable. * When we arrived, the supervisor on duty, Devin, did not acknowledge us and served others who arrived after us. We waited nearly 30 minutes before she returned to take our order. * When I ordered food and two cocktails to go, I provided my valid ID, along with an additional form of identification. Devin then insisted that my girlfriend, who was not ordering alcohol, also present identification. * Despite explaining that the drinks were for me and offering two forms of ID, she refused service, stating she would not serve anyone at our table unless my girlfriend also produced ID. * I asked to speak with a manager. Devin stated she was the manager on duty. After waiting another 30 minutes, I was told again that no further escalation was possible and that she had the final say. As a person of color, this treatment felt discriminatory. The refusal to serve me despite providing proper identification, gave the clear impression that I was being singled out unfairly. It was not just poor service; it carried the weight of a racist act. I want to acknowledge that other staff members were respectful and professional, and that on previous visits we enjoyed both the food and the service. This negative experience was solely due to Devin's conduct. I respectfully request that management investigate this incident seriously. Our group of 6 was seated, on a holiday, was seated immediately. That should have been my sign. Our simple requests weren't fulfilled, such as no pickles or mustard. It happens. Or fish and chips, $24, 2 small pieces of fish and a small handful of fries. Bread bowl with clam chowder, $18, had a cup of underwhelming chowder. Granted, the bowl probably absorbed a great deal of the chowder. Kids menu was frozen food deep fried. For the price this place was a huge disappointment. Server was by a total of 5 times, including to drop off our food and the check. We won't be back. Unfortunate, as we travel as a grip to Lincoln City often. read more
