My BMW 430i xDrive with 38,000 miles needed a valve cover gasket replaced, according to the local dealer, and their estimate was OVER THE TOP. So I checked with Eric at Mozart's Garage and he quoted me a price that was SIXTY PERCENT LESS than the dealer ... but wait, says Eric, the gasket replacement may not even be necessary, at least, not for awhile. And away he went with his fancy diagnostics (and physical inspection) and proved the point, along with an easy to follow explanation. The dealer or Mozart? Easy choice. I'll be going back to Mozart. SHAME ON YOU YELP!! This place changed owners a year ago and has nothing but good reviews since then and you still only show only the bad, old reviews that apply to the previous owner. SHAME ON YOU FOR HURTING A GREAT LOCAL BUSINESS!! Got a great repair service here for my engine cooling system. I had called the dealer and they were going to be charging me around $600-700, but Eric did it for $400. He was very professional and accommodating. It was also completed completely on the schedule he mentioned. One thing to keep in mind is he recently took over this business. Any opinion not within the last 6 months is not applicable to Eric and the current Mozart's Garage. Eric, the new owner, is great!! This is a review for 2 seperate visits, one in April and August. Found out about them from a review of the old owners on Roadhaus. The new ownership is wonderful. The owner Eric and mechanic Daniel are both very helpful and knowledgeable. April Had to get a quick fix for my old VW rabbit diesel while traveling from AZ to oklahoma so stopped in Santa Fe as Mozarts Garage was able to see my car with only 1 day notice. I came when they were busy working on another car but they switched over to help me real quick so I could get back on the road. I just needed a governor bolt adjustment but they helped me out alot more than that to fix my throttle cable response and made the rest of my trip feel like a new ride. Ive been learning to work on my car and they were welcome to show me what they had done and teach me how different things work. They matched what I had asked for the work $ and I was on my way. August I needed new shocks and struts for my same car and trusted Mozarts enough to want to drive from AZ to Santa Fe to have them do the work. Again a pleasant experience. Showing me how components work and interact in the suspension. Got a call a couple hours after dropping off that I could come pick it up. The price for the work was pretty affordable and again what I had wanted it to be so they seem to be on the same page as the customer. Overall great shop! read more

My car had a problem, and Eric missed the main problem but fixed several other less important problems. When I went back to him and pointed out that he hadn't fixed the problem I had originally asked him to fix, he didn't seem to know what was causing the problem and took no responsibility for not having fixed the car. Should have checked reviews. I gave this place a call to check the price for installing a boost gauge after getting told yes i came by they told me i needed some extra parts. I went to buy them came back the next morning all to be told he doesnt want to get involved to a simple boost gauge. Waste of time. Being a student, I return home to Santa Fe seasonally. Mozart's Garage is a regular pit stop for me now. I used to take my car to a local Honda dealership, but realized I was being charged an arm and a leg for basic services and check-ups. Mozart's is affordably priced and provides excellent service, both during and after they perform their service. The nice thing that I know and the folks at the garage folks don't know is that I have sent some of my friends in Santa Fe to their garage, and they are just as happy as I was. I'm glad I never dealt with the previous owner. The folks at Mozart's Garage now, have been nothing short of amazing for me. My car broke down in Santa Fe while I was traveling through. It happened on a Sunday, so all garages were closed (an industry norm). I had to continue on to Colorado that day so I left my car at a Hotel, rented a car and put off worrying about my VW Passat until Monday. I called Mozart's Garage early Monday morning and connected to Eric after maybe 2 rings. I told him I would have a tow company drop off my car for him to have a look at. He said they were busy but would give me a call back 1) when my car was dropped off, and 2) once they had found out the problem (two cracked oil seals). I received both of these phone calls on Monday. Considering I had never met Eric, I think this was pretty great service. Here's where it gets tricky. I was heading back to the East coast to spend some time with family and was essentially leaving my car at Mozart's Garage until I made my way back. I told him this situation up front and Eric did not hesitate to say it was fine, and he wouldn't expect payment until I picked the car up. I found this extremely trusting and helpful for my situation. I am also moving to another country shortly and was driving the car back to the East Coast in order to leave it at my parents house for a short while. Since it was stuck in Santa Fe I decided I needed to sell it to save some money. I also had some personal items in the car that I would need to pack up. When I told Eric this, he offered to pack up my items (including removable roof racks) and ship them to my address in Arizona. He also then, almost immediately found a buyer for the car! Over the past couple months I have contacted Eric on numerous occasions in order to get this sticky situation settled. He has been an extremely professional, honest, and above-and-beyond manager/owner/employee of Mozart's Garage. I can honestly say if I were to ever live in or around Santa Fe, with an import car, I would, absolutely, be a customer of Mozart's Garage. read more

In early June 2016 my 2006 BMW 525 started to have transmission problems on trips over 50 miles from where I live. I received two different messages: Transmission too hot and Transmission Fault. Although, I had some hard shifts and reduced acceleration, Thank God, that the car was still drive-able and I did not have to call a tow truck. I took my car to Mozart's Garage and to my surprise Stephen had sold the garage to Eric. I found Eric to be courteous, friendly, professional and honest. Eric could not find anything mechanically wrong with the transmission. He did a computer reset and that solved the problem. As of today no problems with the transmission. The price Eric charged me was very reasonable and there were no extra or hidden costs. Mozart's Garage is not what it used to be. read more

This kinda seems to be a pattern. If there was anyway to give this place zero stars I would. The owner was unbelievably unprofessional and more than willing to take advantage. He did not contact us with any updates regarding the vehicle and was very snappy when we made contact. And yet 5 thousand dollars and 3+ weeks later the car is still leaking coolant (which was the issue to begin with) and now it's another issue. I will not take any vehicle I ever own to this garage. And I strongly recommend that you don't either. read more

Do not trust this mechanic. After I hired him to advise me on the purchase of an old mercedes, he went on to bilk me as a fool. For 2300 he could not figure out that the car was pulling to the left because of two weights incorrectly placed as wheel balance following an apparent curb riding episode. I came to Santa Fe from NYC with my 1972 Mercedes. I was a bit worried about having my car serviced here. Upon arrival, I noticed a loss of power in the car. Initially I thought it was because of the altitude; I looked for a MB service shop and had the pleasure of meeting Steve and Julie - the owners. My car was initially tuned, but still lacked the extra power. Steve was able to diagnose a small leak in the vacuum booster which was causing the power loss. This was something that the MB techs in NYC, as well as my local mechanic in NYC could not find. He was able to locate a new vacuum booster for me and the car ran fine. All during the time the car was there, it was kept in storage - not outside. The price was very reasonable for all the work that was done. Steve has had extensive experience with the classic Mercedes and is definitely the go to guy when it comes to having your car fixed. The shop floor is immaculate - which is an indication of how the service is done. I recommend Steve and Julie totally. They are good honest people who know their work. This was a difficult diagnostic and I am very happy. read more
