After an extensive search through photographers to capture our wedding, my wife and I fell in love with MP's work - and he did not disappoint. Before our big day, he was very easy to get a hold of and set plans with. On our wedding day, our entire schedule was thrown into disarray due to last minute changes and MP was incredibly flexible and able to work with us through the chaos; he even improvised a photo shoot with our guests while my wife and I were running around putting out metaphorical fires. MP photographed our three day Indian wedding and we cannot recommend him enough! First of all, the photos he took and delivered to us were absolutely incredible; he focuses on candid moments, but also knows how to pose us for breathtaking shots (especially for the couple portraits). The candid photographs were so beautiful, we felt like we were re-living the wedding when we were going through the album! He knew exactly which moments to capture. MP is also very detail oriented - small examples include cleaning the dirt on the Mandap to get better photos, adjusting to lighting when necessary, and getting in some crazy uncomfortable positions just to get the perfect shot. Beyond all this, he's incredibly professional to work with. He went through the schedule with us & our planner and was quick to give feedback if he thought we needed more time for photos, which we really appreciated. He imported the whole wedding timeline into his google calendar so he knew where both myself and the groom would be at any moment so he could capture everything. His assistant was excellent as well. We're SOO happy with the finished products; we can't decide which photos to hang in our house because they're all so beautiful and thoughtful. Working with MP and his team was one of the best decisions we made for our 4-day wedding celebration in the Bay Area & Napa (mehndi, haldi/sangeet, Catholic blessing/welcome dinner, Hindu ceremony/reception). The quality of his work is exceptional, his work ethic is relentless, and he is just a wonderful, nice person. Quality of work: The moments he captured from our wedding weekend were simply amazing. He captured candids, posed pictures, golden hour and everything in between perfectly. Our friends, parents, and parent's friends all commented on how much they loved his photos too. He always asked us if there were any specific types of shots we wanted every step of the way, and he went out of his way to make those shots happen. It was 90 degrees in Napa during the baraat and outdoor ceremony, and he powered through all the events in the sun to get amazing shots. I think MP's skills are undeniable, especially if you're looking for something modern and contemporary. With enough time, he's got great ideas and angles and effects, so def splurge and give him a few hours to work his magic before the event. That's his BEST stuff. His in the moment shots that are not set-up in advance are a bit mediocre. His style, or something he really likes to take, is like a fuzzy object in the foreground with the background sharp. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. He was pretty professional for the most part and delivered in the standard time frames. HOWEVER, where I think he showed extremely poor judgement was getting into it with my wife on the day of the ceremony. Evidently he was flustered because my wife had another photographer come early in the morning to do some extreme make-up close-ups. I got caught in the middle of it at the end, and MP was quoting the contract (sole photog) and basically saying that his reputation was going to suffer because people will think he can't do close-ups. We had it on the schedule ahead of time, and at that point, it was just best to let it all pass. But he showed a little bit of ego, pride. I tried my best to smooth it over and in the end he got some amazing pics. Not as stellar as his sample books show, but still pretty decent and I was satisfied. I hope he learned from the experience and is a better photographer now. At some point, it was just a misunderstanding. Just let people have their day, especially when it was not intentional at all. read more
