We tried MPM Tiki bar tonight for the first time! Upon entering the front door we were promptly greeted by the hostess. The inside was decorated very on brand, but I thought it was quite loud inside. Granted, it is a Friday night. We sat outside and were greeted within a few minutes by our waitress. She was super friendly and helpful going over the menu for us since it was our first visit. I had a Thai Iced Tea which was delicious, but the straw I was given was too short for the glass they served it in. We ordered the crab Rangoon and bulgogi beef appetizers and thought they were delicious! For main courses, I ordered the Katsu Chicken Rice Bowl, my husband ordered the Pad Prik Pao and my husband's friend ordered the Crispy Chicken Fried Rice. We also ordered the Honey BBQ wings for the table. I thought the chicken in my bowl was really good, but the proportions of the bowl were interesting. It was essentially 5/6 rice and then 1/6 the chicken, seaweed salad, and other toppings (cabbage and tomatoes). It was such a deep bowl that I was left with copious amounts of rice at the end. The wings looked awesome but they were slathered in sauce and that was a little disappointing. Plus we could have used some wet wipes for them! The service was pretty slow which, again, Friday night.... But our server visited our table one time. Overall the food (for the most part) and atmosphere were great, but the service was just okay. read more

I enjoy the food and ambience here. Definitely can be a fun place to go to late night as well. My issue with MPM is my card has been charged double or more on multiple occasions. The service was good but it seemed like we may have gone on a busier night; therefore, there were only two servers so it took a while to get served/refills. When the server did stop by, he was very attentive and kind. The food was not what we expected. We found this place on social media as one of our favorite influencers in the area had recently shared a video review here. We ordered almost everything they ordered, but we were disappointed with the short ribs (on top of mashed potatoes) and the green curry. Went here for the first time a few days ago. I noticed the establishment was clean, big, and everyone working there was friendly. Our waitress was great, and the drinks were even better ( I got the hello kitty, and something else I cannot remember) We got the beef, the pad Thai and crab rangoons. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Short Pump (4.5). The food is consistently good, the bar selection is excellent (although no dark beers on draft, which is my husband's go-to) and good vibes. This time we ordered beers, pad see ew with beef, pad Thai with chicken, and fried tofu. I wish we has more because I was craving leftovers and there were some but I felt like it was the right things to let my child have them. Why must I be so selfless lol. We were in the area for our anniversary and found this tiki bar (we LOVE tiki bars lol), so of course we had to stop in. At first, I wasn't completely sold after looking at the menu as I didn't immediately see anything I wanted to eat as most tiki bars we have been to are more on the dive bar side so regular bar foods. So, the plan was to grab a couple drinks and find dinner somewhere else nearby. I am so glad my fiancé talked me into staying because this place absolutely knocked me off my feet. -I highly recommend the Nuclear Hawaiian and the Hello Kitty!!!! When we mentioned we weren't sure about the food, the bartenders jumped right in with recommendations and suggested the calamari and crab rangoon and they were spot on! When the food arrived, everything was perfectly cooked. The calamari was tender with a great texture, and the crab rangoon was crisp with amazing flavor. I went from I am not hungry to I could eat multiple plates of the same thing. We ended up staying for hours watching college football and mingling with some of the regulars. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and we genuinely had such fun conversation with people around us. We even heard from several folks that this place really comes alive during karaoke nights. At one point an older heavyset lady who we later found out was one of the cooks came out to chat with people. She was checking in to make sure everyone liked their food and catching up with the regulars like family. it really showed how much the staff cares about the people that walk through the door. MPM Tiki Bar feels like a true local gem with great drinks, delicious food, and a staff that makes you feel welcome from the moment you sit down. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was very welcoming and attentive. I've never encountered a friendlier waitress. I had the Pad Thai add beef and it was delicious. I could eat it every day. My cousins had the drunken noodles and crab fried rice. We also had the veggie gyozas and fried Crab Rangoon. I wish the crab rangoon was crispier, but it was still good. MPM is a very cute space. I love the design of tiki bars and I think it's the best place for a first date or girls day out. I will be returning to check out their happy hour and specialty cocktails. read more

This spot is a vibe! I love the ambiance here and I feel like I'm transported to some Asian country honestly. The service here was amazing. To our surprise, they had a cool two-seater raised booth, which gave it the appearance of a step up from a standard table, even if it wasn't . Stopped by here on a whim for a late night dinner. Most of the food seemed to be Thai or Chinese style. Luckily everything I ordered was surprisingly good. Standouts for me were the chicken curry roti, crab fried rice, and also the crab rangoon. This place seems to get really crowded and loud though, which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I wouldn't come here if you're looking for a quiet date night. I've driven by this spot a few times, so I was excited to finally try it a few weekends my first impression was that the ambiance was great-- the restaurant was full of people at around 6 PM on a Friday night, and the decoration was fun and eye catching. I found the service to be great and responsive as well, our waitress was consistent on checking in with us, yet also very accommodating when we were feeling a little indecisive. The food itself was passable, but it doesn't help that there are a lot of quality Thai restaurants in the area with similar offerings and better serving sizes/execution. For instance, I can speak to the stir fried/vegetable dishes; I ordered the basil eggplant (pictured), and there was a disappointing lack of the dish's namesake. I also tried the happy hour calamari which was quite delicious. I give a 3/5 stars because I am not sure if I would return specifically for the food; however, the restaurant itself and happy our offerings are definitely worth checking out at least once. read more

It's got a fun vibe with a tiki bar in the front of the restaurant, enclosed booths, and karaoke in the back room some nights. It's a little loud but not too loud you can't hear your conversation. Everything comes out very quickly and is so delicious! Every single thing we ordered was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavor. The staff are so friendly and the owner is very present. We were told a 25 minute wait and it was maybe ten tops. The prices are pretty reasonable for what you get. Everything is so good you could even just get a few appetizers and be happy. Waitress was a little interesting- came to the table to take my order 3 times before my friends arrived after I said I was waiting for friends. We ordered the larb lettuce wraps, green curry, fried tofu, and ginger fish. The fish was my absolute favorite. Enjoyed every dish we ordered and found the food to be fairly authentic Thai. I placed an order for delivery through DoorDash and not only did I receive the wrong item, but the food I got was MOLDY--completely inedible and a serious health risk! When I called the store, they told me to bring the food in so they could "verify" the issue. After going through the hassle of returning the item in person, they then refused to take responsibility and told me to contact DoorDash instead. To make matters worse, DoorDash offered no resolution--no refund, no credit, nothing. Apparently, both the restaurant and DoorDash believe it's acceptable to serve spoiled food and leave the customer to deal with it. This is beyond poor service; it's negligence. If you care about food safety and customer service, avoid this place and be cautious when ordering through DoorDash. I wouldn't trust either of them with my money--or my health. read more
