I'm not sure if they are under new management or not, however a place I use to visit 2-3 times a week will turned into never again. There is a gentlemen there who is rude out of this world. After I was seated he walked by me and yelled did she seat herself. Shortly after he walked to my table and said you don't need a menu in a way as if my presence there was a problem. The Veggie Pad See Ew was good--the noodles were cooked perfectly and had the exact texture I prefer. The pineapple fried rice was also good, but there was an overwhelming amount of cilantro, and despite requesting spice, it came with no heat at all. The spring rolls were nicely crispy, though they could definitely do without the lettuce lining the bottom of the container, as it caused the wrappers to become soggy. Overall, the food was good, but it would have been better if soy sauce had been included in the bag and if the spice request had actually been honored. We were seated quickly and brought waters. After a brief moment to look over the menu, we ordered veggie gyoza, paid thai, pineapple fried rice, fried ice cream, mango & sticky rice. This time I ordered the drunken noodles ($17) with duck (+$4) with a spice level 2 and it came out in about 20 minutes. I was definitely much smaller compared to the last time I was here.. I remember last time it was about two full servings and this time it felt like just one size serving. The flavor was also not as good as i last remembered. The duck was also just ok. Came late after a long work week for a drink and a light bite. This hit the spot. The Walking Dead cocktail had two different rums, passion fruit syrup, a rum float and some other flavorings that made for a very satisfying drink (good buzz with just one of those too). I'm not sure exactly how the squid was prepared, but it was tender, flavorful, and just delicious. The Phunket Noodle dish was the real showstopper--shrimp, salmon, and scallops all in one plate. The server who was handling take out disappeared into the back for 5 or 10 minutes at a stretch with no update when she came out. I saw 3 delivery drivers give up and leave. In the first 25 minutes only 1 take order came out of the kitchen. They said the kitchen was really busy. The restaurant seating was maybe 75% full. Food kept coming out for the tables, so I suspect they were prioritizing in house diners. If your takeout is going to take an hour, then tell me that. Nuclear Hawaiian was fruity which I liked but I didn't think it had the right amount of alcohol in it. Calamari for appetizer could use some more flavor. Crab meat fried rice and soft shell pad thai were alright. They were not that flavorful. Our seats were a little far from the table (thr seats are fixed, little higher, and not adjustable). Mom's Siam is a good option when seeking a Thai restaurant on Cary Street for their large amount of seating, variety of meals and drinks, and cool aesthetic. My group ordered several meals to try from, I ordered the Penang curry at medium spice level with their Thai tea martini. The curry was the perfect temperature and the portion was decent. I will note - spice wise - was the same as the mild so if you like heat, I would order up! I will add, when we finished our meal, we were maybe sitting there only for a couple of minutes when a waitress came by to subtly ask us to leave, which was fine but some people in my group felt it was an uncomfortable note to leave on. read more

The atmosphere was great, the patio seating was lovely, and our waitress provided excellent service. We enjoyed our drinks, with Mimi having a White Lady cocktail (5/5) and me opting for Riesling (4/5). I ordered the Pad Prick with fried chicken ($2 upcharge) at level 3, which was tasty but not spicy, rating 3.9/5. We had such a lovely experience here, I really cannot wait to go back. We came at a busy lunch hour on a weekend, and were seated within minutes. The service was so friendly and fast, I've never had a Thai tea come so quickly! The food was all excellent. We had a curry and a few pad Thais at the table, and everything had just excellent seasoning and spice. I love that you can customize the spice levels of (some) dishes from 1-5, and the 3 was the perfect little hint of heat! I also appreciate the spice rack/tower you can ask for at the table, a great way to mix things up or share across different preferences. Nestled right at the end of Carytown is Mom's Siam. We chose patio seating which was fine, nothing fancy. Service was good. Beer could stand to be a little colder. The highlight was the food. It was excellent with just the right amount of seasoning. Very flavorful and delicious. The ingredients tasted very fresh. Portions were big enough for me to take some home for the next day. However the friends I came with ate all of their meals. So if you are starving, you will be quite satisfied. read more

My first time visiting mom's Siam. I want to the one downtown on Cary street. There was a lot going on within the restaurant as far as dirty tables. Dishes and everything still on them. They have indoor and outside seating available. ***EXPERIENCE*** Like I've mentioned, I've been here on several trips. It's interesting because the owners here also own Yaya's Cookbook and I prefer Yaya's. I'm only noting this because I like their Khao soi at Yaya's more (for the noodles and crunchy noodles on top). Their drunken noodles here are pretty good too. I'd highly recommend ordering the chef's special lamb chop drunken noodle. The flavors are really tasty in that dish. They have some really fun drinks here too, like a tiramisu shot or wasabi shot. The chicken wings were delicious, I usually always order that when I come. The fresh spring rolls were a little disappointing, they didn't have enough filling in the inside, and they were wrapped very loosely, so they were falling apart. The sauces that came with each app were a little off, could use some work. I stumbled across this spot while roaming down Cary Street. It is very cool with a laid back, hipster vibe. It is sizeable with outdoor seating as well. I popped in for a quick bite but ended up ordering several dishes: fried calamari, curry roll, hoy jaw, and drunken noodles with chicken. Of course, I had to get my Thai iced coffee as well. The Fried Calamari was delicious and very well done with a good batter that is well seasoned. It came with sweet chili sauce, which enhanced the flavor even more. I was a bit disappointed with the curry roll as I expected it to be a bit spicy due to the curry with some more flavor. It was good but a bit underwhelming since I was expecting more of a curry taste. The hoy jaw was really tasty and very crispy. It was full of flavor and tasted even better with the dipping sauce. The drunken noodles blew us away! Juicy and spicy with the noodles cooked just right, it was an instant favorite. It is full of flavor and the "sauce" of the noodles made it even better! The Thai iced coffee was decent and was fairly strong. My only issue was the chunks of coconut milk floating around inside the drink. It was a bit weird to drink chunks of coconut milk.
