Went here looking for a place to smoke cigars, hang out and watch some March Madness. It had some decent reviews so we trusted them. Got to Mona's and found a good spot. We had cigars but bought more. The cigar collection was anemic, but we were not bothered by that because we came prepared. It filled up pretty quickly around 8 because a DJ showed up. So it went from a cool and chill place to CLUB RICHMOND pretty quickly. We enjoyed the best of both worlds...cigar bar by day/nightclub by night. The food was above average for bar food. The drinks were solid. The staff was cool but slammed by guests. And the patrons were very friendly. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a week later. Decided to visit this with some girlfriends on a Saturday night. Free parking available in the neighboring lots. The drinks were reasonably priced. Cocktails: Pineapple Upside Down 3/5 Crown Paradise 4/5 Strawberry hookah 4/5 DJ 4/5 Service 3 Hookah and cigars are available for purchase. The space is large with plenty of seating. majority of the seating was showing reserved but my group of 4 was seated pretty quickly without an issue. We arrived around 8:45 and it wasn't crowded. The crowd arrived around 11:30ish. Limited patio seating is also available on first come, first serve basis. Our waitress was friendly but the service was ridiculously slow. Only 2 waitresses were available for a crowd of people.I watched our waitress make the drinks, serve the drinks, change the hookah coals and serve food. While on a trip to Richmond with my Big Spoon, we stopped by his cigar spot so I could experience his stomping grounds. Like most cigar bars, it's filled with men who hang out. On a random Sunday, the place was empty except a couple of couples, us and another, and a group of men. Even though we had a huge lunch, I always try food every place I go. (Sighs) We did get wings which were delicious. Almost too good, where we contemplated if we should order some to take back home with us. Cheesecake was just okay, I wouldn't recommend. When I say every single bartender who works here is trash I mean it. Absolutely no customer service every single time I come here. I've been here several times and this time I decided to set a timer to see how long it would take the bartender to even acknowledge the people sitting at the bar. Let's just say we sat at the bar and stared in the bartenders faces for 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged we were there. This establishment would be okay if it didn't take 30-40 minutes to get a drink and order your food when you enter because the staff lacks customer service skill. On somewhat of an impromptu trip to Richmond, after dinner, we headed to my favorite local Cigar spot, Mona Lounge & Cigar Bar. I'm glad the word lounge comes before cigar in the name because Monas is definitely more of a lounge these days. This would be my third time coming to Monas and it has become more and more popular each visit. So much so, there's a Doorman and a line backed down the sidewalk if you come on a Saturday after 9. Trying to get a table seat without a reservation will fall on death ears so you'll have to try your luck at the two bars if you want to sit down. On Saturdays there's live music on one side and a dj on the other. Mona's offers a full food menu and the food is actually good, especially for a lounge. The cigar selection is limited and the humidor is super small. I do appreciate that they don't require you to purchase a stick so you can bring your own. It seems that they're not fully utilizing the space in the main room to the fullest. They could easily add several tables and it wouldn't feel crowded (in my opinion)..LOL! All and all, Mona Lounge and Cigar Bar is always a good time, and we noticed, the women outnumbered the men which I have NEVER seen where cigars are being smoked. First time here. I'm struggling to rate this place. The food is a 4. The service is a 1. It was hard to order anything. Everything took a long time. There was no care or service. Couldn't order more drinks because no one ever came back to our table. No one tended to the hookah. We were just left alone. Bbq chicken flatbread was good. The crabmeat fries were decent. When I arrived around 7pm the were very few people and a piano player. It quickly became busy and a DJ took over. Lady at the door said Saturday is always busy...Friday is a bit more laid back. I typically don't go to cigar bars that do hookah but I was unaware before I ventured out to check out the city. Had an opportunity to visit Mona Cigar Lounge about two years ago when in Richmond visiting. Had a great time, the food, the drinks, as well as the service required that when in Richmond, I make it a point to drop in. Well here we are two years later , nd they have not missed a beat. The place is welcoming, great humidor, along with pleasant service personnel...a must visit for any traveler cigar and bourbon afficionado. During our visit , here was a DJ with a constant stream of pulsating music. Dress as you are, but be prepared to show ID at the door. The atmosphere lively with conversations ranging from the benign to global issues...... Multiple TVs throughout with current sports events. This has definitely become one of my must stop in venues when in the Richmond Va. area. Good food, great music and a chill vibe. Mona's lounge is a great place if you are 30 & up. Located in the heart of short-pump it is the ideal place if you are looking for something low-key. They have a wide variety of drinks and cigars. It's one of the few places in RVA where you can smoke indoors, so if you don't want to smell like smoke from head to toe this is not the place for you. I've gone a few times to celebrate birthdays and if you're a cigar/hookah smoker this is the place for you! Very attentive staff, if you have a party you will need to reserve seating otherwise it's standing room only. I absolutely enjoyed this cigar lounge. We tried it twice: During the early afternoon our service was amazing and swift. The lounge was full of ole skool music and soft conversations. The cigar selection isn't huge but they definitely have good picks. My sister enjoyed her hookah blend. Rosé I do believe! My drink of choice was a Hennething Goes...delicious! Was invited to a 4th of July cookout in Richmond. I arrived a day early and decided to go to mona lounge and cigar bar. Walked in and it was crowded they have a DJ playing music and it's loud. People are sitting at tables and lounge chairs smoking cigars and hookah. It's really smokey in my opinion the ventilation could be better. I go straight to the humidor to purchase a cigar (fat botom betty) and sit down. The DJ was playing some really good music. I ordered a white sangria and fried shrimp. The sangria was good and refreshing but could have a little more wine. The fried shrimp came out about 10 minutes after my drink. The fried shrimp came with fries, a side remoulade sauce and a side of ketchup. The fried shrimp was ok not well seasoned. When I dipped the shrimp in the remoulade sauce they tasted better. Just my opinion food should be seasoned and stand on it's own, the sauce should enhance a dish not be the main attraction. The fries were good and ketchup is ketchup. The place was really nice, and had probably the best hookah I've ever had. No crazy hangover headache after like with other hookahs. The bartender was nice but inattentive. She was on her phone off in a corner most of the time. The only bad thing about this place is the food! The flatbread took about 20 min to make (even tho the place was empty) and it came out raw. I absolutely love this place. We went with friends mid day and had an absolutely incredible time. Everyone here is friendly, upbeat and sociable. Our bartender was outstanding and we even shared the same birthday! (Aquarius gang!) We ordered a bunch of shareable appetizers and it was well beyond exceptional. I love the hummus and olives. It's the best food I've ever had a hookah/ smoke lounge. They also had a live band play and a guy playing piano that absolutely killed it. I've been to Mona Lounge on three different occasions, first time back in September of 2022, late night after seeing DL Hughley at the Funnybone, stopped in for a few drinks and a cigar, was a little surprised, there wasn't a more mature,sophisticated crowd not sure why I thought the crowd would be older. The 2nd time I visited Mona's was during the workday in March 2023, lots business people working and enjoying a cigar or two, very nice atmosphere, loved it, I purchase 5 vanilla cigars, the young lady was very helpful and knowledgeable. My third visit to Mona's me and my spouse stopped in on a Saturday night, my spouse was asked to remove his NY Knicks Jersey, (the late Anthony Mason) not sure why, as he had a T-shirt underneath, my spouse proceeded to remove his Jersey and had it in his hand the bouncer no, you can't walk in with it, you need to hang it up right here, huh? I walked back to the parking lot and place the Jersey in the car, went back inside Mona's to see other gentlemen with sports jerseys and sport hats on, tried to get clarity regarding the Jersey rules and regulations but there was no clear answer, we both had a cigar and a few drinks, which are always good, then left soon after. read more

Arrived with my wife at 6:30 pm on a 95 degree Wednesday to enjoy an indoor smoke, cocktails, and dinner. I was bum-rushed at the door by the server who turned me back. "Men aren't allowed to wear open-toe shoes. It's okay for women, but not men." Mind you I was in leather slides, nice shorts, and a button up collared shirt. My wife was equally dressed. TL;DR: Good live music, good food, less than desirable service. Came here on a Saturday night with some friends. There was live music playing which was awesome (just a little loud for my ears). A couple of us ordered a hookah, which was decent, but took forever to get new coals (which are just instalight). The other's got some cigars. The worker was very knowledgeable about cigars and made excellent recommendations. We ordered some food, and it was surprisingly really good. Left the kids at the hotel, figured I'd go have a cigar and a bourbon and relax at a place that touted itself as a "cigar lounge" with a "casino style ventilation" system. NONE of this was true. Most cigar lounges, at least reputable lounges, have a dress code. I was dressed with that expectation. Unfortunately, this "cigar lounge" had none. Sneakers, t-shirts, hoodies, saggy jeans, flip-flops, swimming trunks: whatever you decided to wear, you got in. It is a nightclub where you're allowed to smoke. The "live music" lauded on its website was a DJ blasting hip hop so loud you couldn't hear yourself speak. That "casino style" ventilation? About as real as dragons, unicorns, and the Babadook. The smoke was thick in the air to the point that my eyes started burning. Don't be one of the unwitting and unwary who patronize this establishment with any kind of expectation that it is an actual cigar bar. read more

Told me after I entered and was headed to my reserved table that they "just changed the rules and slides were not allowed after 7pm but there were several MEN inside with Crocks on. Then the front hostess tried to make a scene and the manager was no assistance saying the gentlemen inside with Crocks/slides on was inside the venue prior to "ladies night" starting. My brother in law and I went here to spend some time on a Saturday afternoon. This place is really, really nice!! It is pretty easy to find and there is a free parking deck just around the corner from the place. There is a decent selection of cigars that you can purchase and the cigars that I looked at were reasonable. Perdomo 10 year anniversary for about $8.50 to give you an idea. You can buy a cigar there or bring your own. There is also a full kitchen but we did not get any food. We did get a beer and a pour of bourbon. They have a pretty decent selection of beer- both draft and bottle. The bourbon selection was a little small but I got to try rare breed- although a little high($11 for 2 ounces), it was really good and I didn't have to buy a whole bottle to try it. There are several tvs in the place and they had both soccer and football on while we were there. The best thing that I liked was it was a very relaxed atmosphere. The bartender came around to see if you needed anything else and there was a nice selection of jazz music overhead. It was loud enough but no so loud that you couldn't carry on a conversation. There was also a grand piano so I assume that they have piano playing at some point during the week. I will definitely be going back! Hopefully when the piano player is there! The lounge itself was overall a pretty cool place. Not over crowded (but it was a Wednesday) mix crowd of men and ladies. Lots of different cigar options to choose from and prices begin around $5 for a cigar. Service was very very slow. I noticed there seemed to be ample staff for the customer ratio but for some reason it was difficult to get the server to come over. I ordered food and I literally had to get up about three different times anytime I needed something. Bad service on that aspect. Now, it's a cigar bar so food probably just isn't their specialty. Maybe I should have opted for an appetizer. I ordered salmon with fettuccine. It was horrible. Like extra bland, greasy, not good. I asked for some seasoning, it didn't help. The seating was not what we preferred but okay. She ordered shrimp Alfredo pasta. She said it was cold and it tasted like frozen food section shrimp Alfredo. I ordered the crab cakes and asparagus.
