First, let me say the service I received was as close to perfect as you will get in fast casual. Seated in seconds, asked me about menu and offered suggestions, saw a mistake they made in my order and refired it before it made it to my plate, drink refilled before I got close to running out, and a to-go cup for the remainder. Food was fresh and ability to pick corn tortilla or lettuce wrap was much appreciated. Guacamole was actual guacamole and not green paste. It is not intimate or quiet, but it's not so loud you can't hold a conversation. A cost-conscious lunch choice for sure. Tables were all wiped down and floors clean as well. They have the best nacho chips! They were seasoned & so light but crispy at the same time! I LOVE this place. What could else could a girl want more than a mexican korean fusion restaurant?? (The answer is not much). This was one of the first places I tried in RVA when I moved here last year, and it's always left a positive impression on me. We interacted with some of the staff, like the host and other waitresses who seemed quite friendly, upbeat and fun, though we had a wholly mediocre meal with a waitress who was only partially interested in our table. The place has an okay vibe, but seems sort of phoned-in since there was no real energy or happiness about the place. We popped in on Halloween night after dark but fairly early in the evening (since it's dark by 5:30, right?) so it's not like we were in ad an odd time. The interior is open, fairly noisy, but clean, stylish, and has several seating options. There is also an outdoor patio overlooking the manmade lake that would be fantastic to sit on in the summers. The service was very friendly and fast. The food was creative, well-prepared, and a good value for the price. - The unsweet iced tea was *perfectly* brewed. - We had the Mexinese rice. My husband loved it but I found it a bit bland (it needed salt.) - The street corn (off the cob) was wonderful. So I would say if it wasn't for the wait we had for a couple things such as our wait to even get served while we were seated (solid 10 minutes and I had to say something for us to get served) and waiting for soy sauce (apparently they don't have anything you can pour at the table, they brought it out in a ramekin- hopefully they rethink that if they continue to offer white rice), I would've probably given them a 5. I guess it all comes with being a new restaurant. Honestly food was great! We got the loaded queso to start, it came with chunks of chorizo and chunky guacamole. It had a good spice to it and the chips were also seasoned, quite tasty. I do wish it was a bit hotter (Note, I like piping hot foods). My husband got the carribean jerk taco and birria taco, both had a kick but super tasty. He also got a side of me Mexinese rice which was cooked perfectly. I got three tacos: Pork Belly ( love the sauce that it comes with super tasty and tender pork belly), Korean Beef (great spice and super flavorful, reminds me of the meat you cook at Korean bbq, delicious) and the Poke (this was a lettuce based taco, note you can ask for it with a corn or flour shell too, I kept what was menued, which was great because I felt like I had a little poke salad, super fresh tuna and also flavorful). My kids got a kids meal, which is $5 comes with a drink a side and an entree. Both kids got white rice. One got it with Asian chicken nuggets and the other got a cheese quesadilla. No complaints once they got their soy sauce LOL. I'm excited to come back to get a drink and more food. The service was pleasant and professional. The server recommended a few selections. The taco assortment alone is worth the trip. So many unique flavor combinations. I tried the grilled shrimp, chili lime chicken, and fish tacos (the exact names escape me, but the flavors are unforgettable). Each one was uniquely seasoned, perfectly cooked, and easily some of the best tacos I've ever had. I ordered the box which came with 3 tacos, the guacamole with seasoned chips and plantains. I ordered an extra side of grilled pineapple--all were absolute standouts. The chips had a bold, addictive flavor, and the pineapple was grilled to juicy perfection. The atmosphere was just as impressive. The interior strikes a perfect balance--tasteful, fun, and lively without being overdone. There was music and if I remember correctly, sometimes it's live. Outside, there's a charming little lake with a fountain, and I chose to enjoy my meal there. It was the perfect setting to match the quality of the food. I want to preface this review by stating that I do not drink alcohol. That said, my review may be skewed a bit from the average reviewer. Let's start with the location. This place is beautiful on the outside and oversees a lake through the deck on th backside of the building. Before I ate, I was able to soak in some fresh air and look at the beautiful water fountain. From there a lot of things went wong. The wait time was an hour to get seated, then an hour to get food. I had my children with me and we were seated right next to the bar where it was so close we could hear all of the conversations, we were getting brushed up against and coughed on throughout the meal. The waiter was extremely nice and did her best to make up for the inconveniences such as everything being delivered a different times or not arriving at all, but you could tell it had been a rough day for her. When we finally did get the food, everything had a weird mushy texture to it, but visually, it looked really good. The only thing that i enjoyed was the homemade dorito chips. I ordered fried cheesecake, but that took so long i decided to get it to go. That was a pretty good desert that luckily stayed intact on the way home. The atmosphere here was spectacular. The view outside to the fountain , the decor, and just the overall feel of the restaurant just stood out. The food was spectacular. I got a variety of different tacos (poke, Korean style, Caribbean, and I think a chicken one) all were bursting with flavor. My favorite was the poke style although I think it would've been better on a tortilla then lettuce wrap. The char su burrito bowl was also amazing I just wish there was more food in it.
