Waited for the parts to arrive. job completed only to collapse i.e. refrigerator flooding the kitchen floor, within 2 weeks. Again hard to reach. It was a Friday and they couldn't send someone until Monday. The company that rescued me said that Mr Appliance "had done a shitty job." Horrible, just horrible service. Called on Tues 1/21 as our Electrolux dryer was not working, found them by calling Carey's Appliances and they bought their phone number and said Carey's retired and they were a competitor and are happy to help. They couldn't come to Fairfield until Friday 1/24, but are an authorized Electrolux repair. They were to call before they came to give a better estimate window on Friday. Never called and just showed up, even after I called their office Friday during the longer window to see if they had an update so I could be home. Tech found fault that they could not fix on the spot, and told our tenants (since I wasn't there because they didn't call) that they would reach out to me and discuss options. I never heard from them at all, even when I called later Friday, where I was told someone would call me to discuss is .They could not put me in touch with the tech, they said they do not have cell phones or a way to contact their tech. So, I had no idea what was up, quick fix? New unit? No idea. So after stressing I just called a great place AITORO APPLIANCE WAREHOUSE and explained what was up... They went in their warehouse, found an electrolux dryer that would fit under my counter, and came and put it in the next day (Sat.). Today is the first time I've heard from Mr. Appliance when I got an emailed estimate, where they say you have 90 days and it is a do-not-reply to address: Diagnosis / Work Performed Dryer making bad sound I disassembled and discovered a broken motor and mount and blower. PE firms are snapping up local appliance repair shops by offering franchises for $100,000-$200,000. In return, the shop gets a national or regional brand (Mr Appliance, for example), marketing, employee training and administrative services. The former owner or franchisee becomes an "executive" managing technicians who are trained by the company. Of course, prices and policies are set by the private equity firm selling the the franchises. As more independent shops become franchises, PE firms get more pricing power. Their business model is to ramp up the company's value by raising prices and cutting costs so that they provide a good return their investors. According to critics, this often involves selling out before the damage from extreme cost-cutting becomes too evident. Of course, I didn't know any of this when I called Mr. Appliance to fix my squeaky dryer. The service was prompt and friendly as they had been trained. The problem was diagnosed as too much lint. The service man vacuumed out the machine and, as if it had been scripted, told me the duct had to be cleaned as he simultaneously producing a business card for a duct cleaning company that, I found out later, was also a Neighborly franchise like Mr. Appliance. Needless to say, what I paid for these two services could have covered more than half the cost of a new dryer. The squeak returned because, as I later learned after some internet research, the drum rollers were worn out. I'm sure Mr. Appliance would love to return and replace my rollers, but since they left me feeling flim-flammed, I moved on. read more

I made an appointment to repair my dryer which was confirmed by email and a phone call. A day later they called saying they required my credit card information before they would come to fix my dryer. I have never been required to give my credit card information to a business before they responded or provided any services, let alone doing so over the phone with someone you haven't dealt with previously. First, the need for a new refrigerator was averted when they identified an obscure problem in our Thermador and fixed it. I used this company to repair my refrigerator, which was not maintaining a constant freezer temperature. They were prompt, "diagnosed" the issue as dust covering the compressor coil, and charged me $285 to vacuum under the refrig. The technician indicated that the next step would be replacing the compressor. The "repair" did not work and obviously it was not a compressor issue. I called another company who correctly pointed to a circuit board issue, replaced it and the refrig. now works perfectly. These guys stuck with us - chasing down parts, researching problems, etc. - until the problem was finally resolved. They stayed on top of it and made us a priority until the job was done. I used Mr. Appliance for repair of a refrigerator that wasn't cooling properly. Their diagnosis was to replace a part I had already replaced. Their estimate was grossly high ($442 for a $120 of parts and 30 min of labor). I trusted their diagnosis and happily paid them the diagnostic fee ($143) and and did their recommended repair myself. In the end, their diagnosis was wrong and they won't come back to look at the fridge or refund the diagnostic charge. 2 stars because the technician was friendly and they did have the curtesy to call me back and say sucks for you in person. read more

I had an issue with the freezer of my built-in Viking fridge. Techs came out to fix it. They needed to access behind the unit so the fridge needed to be pulled out to replace the part. The techs opened the doors and started yanking the unit with the door handles. Eventually they realized there were screws behind the vent plate. After every screw they removed, one tech would yank on the doors to try and pull the fridge back. Eventually they did get the fridge pulled back and replaced the part and the unit worked again. However, they damaged the doors to the point they would not close all the way and have a very loud squeak when they close. I contacted them the same day and they claimed it was unrelated but would come out as a courtesy. The tech did come back and managed to get the doors closing again. The loud squeak (like metal on metal) still remains. My wife didn't want any contractors in the house due to Covid, but now we are trying to sell the house and the squeak is worse than ever. I have contacted Mr. Appliance several times and they finally replied they will have to charge me to return to fix the doors they broke. read more

Our Samsung RFG237AAX refrigerator's ice maker would only make crushed ice. But it did so reliably. They gave us an appointment for Monday, we called on a Thursday. Monday they called and said they'd be at our place between 2:45pm - 5pm. They arrived at about 3:15. The technician took the frig apart and then informed us that the repair would be $550.00 we told him that the repairs was too high. He said OK and charged us the $100+ house call fee. When we tried to get ice after he left the refrigerator started to burn. A smell of burnt wires permeated the room and the contents of the fridge were contaminated by it. We immediately called Mr. Appliance and told them we were not happy. I suspect the technician sabotaged the frig because we opted out of the repair. They never called back. I'm still waiting for a response. I should have looked here before, They have so many bad strikes they'll probably not worry about another. These people should be put out of business. We stopped using the auger and and after emptying the bin; tried to collect the ice by taking the bin out. The ice tastes like smoke every time. Now we have no ice at all, our fridge is wrecked and we're out the $100.00. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. read more

This is the worst service ever. They came the first time and barely looked at our dishwasher and decided it was the pump. They charged us almost $400 to fix it. So they came back a week later to "fix it". Well guess what it kept doing the same thing. So when we got back from vacation we called again. He came out and reset he computer and it worked. He said "nothing is wrong and I should charge you." Well 3 days later it stopped working. They came back and now after my wife pushed back on them they looked at it and said there was a recall for the power supply that can effect the computer. They need to come back. They give us a 3-5:30 window. With a 30 min call back. At 3 they call and say 30min. At 5:30 no sign of them and told they will be another hour. Ask to speak to a manager who is nowhere to be found. Asked for a Saturday repair so I don't have to take off more work. They don't do that. I'm still on hold. More wasted time and money. Had a problem with my Samsung dishwasher out of warranty. After a very long process of trying to get it fixed with other companies, these guys stepped in and were finally able to get the job done! They fixed the shotty work from another plumber, ordered and reinstalled parts, and came back numerous times to complete the repair. After a new sensor issue appeared post-repair, they stood by their work and came back to fix it promptly. Our original tech, Brian, was great - but we especially appreciated the help from the owner, Jim, who came out himself when Brian got injured. Even gave his personal cell number to contact him on if we had any other problems! The dishwasher is finally back up and running and I am very pleased. It took them over a month and a half to get the part to me and it wasn't the correct part.
