Mike felt with confidence that the ice maker was broken and needed to be replaced. he quoted me $375.00 for the part and labor to swap. i agreed. this was all over the phone. a survey/diagnostic test was not performed. roughly a week later he swapped the ice maker and told my wife to give it about an hour or so and to update him whether its working or not. (my wife made the mistake of paying him the balance of the money owed before confirming the ice maker worked. shame on her). the ice maker was still not working. he decided to order another ice maker which he did and swapped it out a few days later. He left and said to let him know if it works after an hour or 2. the ice maker still did not work. this was on a saturday. he said he would try to swing by on monday to see whats going on. he didnt come by monday. i sent a follow up text on wednesday. no response. i followed up again on friday and without ever coming back to perform any sort of diagnostic tests, he says i need a water inlet valve and that was going to cost me $250.00. I pushed back on the extra charges and questioned why he didnt tell me from the beginning that i might need other parts to fix it and that i would be charged for it. He ignored that question. He kept insisting that the valve was the next step and if that didnt work a control board was next. I said i needed to have a convo with him before moving forward with anything. That was on a friday roughly 3 weeks later after our initial convo. Never heard from him after that. That weekend i spent a couple hours on youtube and learned that one common reason for icemakers to fail was due to cut wires at the bottom of the fridge where the door hinge meets the fridge (shout out to bearded appliance repair). Bought $30 worth of materials from home depot and i was able to repair the wires myself and the ice maker was fixed. Mike took $375.00 of my $$$ for an icemaker i didnt need (he swears mine was cracked but his credibility is shot at this point) and was ready willing and able to take another $250.00 for a water valve i didnt need. (Those valves are available on amazon for anywhere bw $25-$90 and some of them get great reviews) If i had said yes, the ice maker still would not have worked and god only knows how much more money he wouldve tried to take from me after that until finally realizing wires were cut. Based on other reviews ive read this seems to be a pattern with him and probably done by design to make more $$$ STAY AWAY!!!

But when I tried to cancel same day even after telling them no you're not allowed in my apartment anymore I don't need you don't come. The worker still entered our apartment to take a picture of the couch so they could charge us the $105 travel fee even after we told them no need to come. It wasn't until me calling 5+ times they even sent me the cancellation invoice (after charging my credit card $500 for the service as my down payment) the cancelation invoice was incorrect and still charging me almost $400 for a service I didn't receive. I was told multiple times it would be $250 max for same day cancellation because cancellation fee is 50% of the quote (mine was $458) but since 229 is less than $250 I would have to pay the $250 As of now the two invoices they have sent me have both been incorrect, I am out $458 and they will not refund me . They refuse to send another invoice and they "promise" I'll get my refund but refuse to send any more documentation

As another business owner who is in the industry and regularly contracts out 3rd party for damages, refurbishing, replacements and furniture logistics, we have a long standing business relationship with Dr Sofa, but when it came time for a personal order, supporting my 80 year old parents, I was so upset, saddened, not only for my parents, but over how disrespectful their team, from the workers, to the managers, to the senior manager inn how they treated me, and my family. The entire employee org was so upsetting for me and my parents to deal with. Never again, and we will be ceasing business with them, and will let everyone we know in the industry to not use them. We have a sofa that they claimed they couldn't move (my parents asked their neighbors to do it) and they told me they had to cut a hole in the wall, and asked me to release a waiver of liability, when I pleaded with them to find another solution. The neighbors moved the sofa, and the entire time, Dr. Sofa's crew members sat on their phone and chatted in Spanish while my mother and one other worker did the reupholster, which looked like a bear chewed into it. Shoddy work, no one spoke English and could communicate with my parents while my parents did most of the troubleshooting and support. Madeline on their team should be fired, and their entire team should go through management and service training. I wanted to love this service but am just ashamed that anyone would treat anyone, much less 80 years olds the way they did. This is the FIRST and LAST review I will ever do as I feel this strongly that this company does not deserve to exist.

The agency bills from the minute they arrive at your house till the minute they leave your door. This is an unethical practice and takes advantage of the homeowner. It takes time to explain what to do, and even more time when there is a communication barrier. They charge an excessive amount of money hourly, and go back on their word when they say that they would charge a flat rate if it was less. I would not recommend them unless you're willing to overpay and be frustrated.
