I hope that someone at the Appliance Doctor reads this because this really should be addressed. I called and spoke to Rachel and made an appointment for 6/27/2019 to repair my Kenmore refrigerator. Water was leaking inside and collecting at the bottom of the refrigerator. During our conversation, Ms. Rachel informed me that the service charge would be $129.95(not include parts and labor) On the morning of the 27th, two men arrived. I explained the problem and after removing some pieces from the freezer portion he showed me the problem: ice had built up over a drain which caused the water to leak into the refrigerator. He melted the ice and placed a thin metal rod in the drain hold which he stated would keep the water from freezing and eliminate this problem in the future. The total time spent for this "repair" was approximately 45mins. Then, the repairman scribbled something on a small receipt. The total bill was $244.50. I wanted an itemized account of what the part was but unfortunately the repairman could not supply me with that kind of document. I called the office after the repairmen left and spoke to Ms. Rachel again. She informed me that I would receive such a statement via email in a few days(the men had to return with their paperwork first which has to be "processed"). As of the writing of this review (8/8/2019), I have received NOTHING from the Appliance Doctor. However they found a way to send me something (via regular mail) asking me for a review of their service. NOW IF SOMEONE AT APPLIANCE DOCTOR COULD SEND ME A PROPER ITEMIZED STATEMENT OF THE REPAIRS DONE TO MY REFRIGERATOR AS I REQUESTED NEARLY TWO MONTHS AGO I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. I would give this company negatives if possible. I wish I had checked the ratings before using this company as my experience mirrors many others. They came after explaining the $159.95 fee is for diagnosis. I had a gas leak in my stove. The technician spent a few minutes on checking the connector and shut off valve. Said he tightened it but suggested I hire a plumber to replace it. He then charged me an additional $50 for labor. As soon as he left the gas smell returned. I contacted the office to say that he did not solve any problem and they said he recommended I hire another professional to replace the shut off valve. She said they would refund $100. It turns out they overcharged me an additional $100 for a total of $338 so that was the refund. I did hire a plumber to replace the shut off valve but the gas leak continues. The plumber said I need to have an "appliance expert" diagnose the problem which I thought was what I paid $159 to Appliance doctor for. My assessment of AD work: 1. No diagnosis of appliance 2. Recommendation for work by another professional that did not solve problem. 3. Labor charge for no real labor. 4. Overall bill overcharge by accounting by $100. read more

Tech 'RT' called 1/2 before, came on time, was clean and friendly, not your typical repairman. He was able to diagnose and repair our Miele dishwasher in minutes. He also pointed out that the filter in the tub needs to be cleaned weekly, we never knew that. RT also pointed out several similar maintenance items in other brands in our home; the Bosch washer, Sub Zero refrigerator and Viking range. We later checked these items and it was correct. We had Appliance Doctor send RT back for our Sub Zero yearly cleaning (very necessary) and Bosch washer door seal that was full of mildew. We received a nice discount on the second trip since we are now a customer. He was able to ship us the Viking cutting board and I put that on myself, with his great tips. We recommended Appliance Doctor to 3 friends and they had a good experience as well. read more

This is my first ever online review! I wouldn't bother to post, except this was the best repair service I ever experienced! Expert and professional from the phone consultation to the repair itself. The technician Francis even diagnosed the root of the problem so I understood why the malfunction occurred in the first place. Furthermore, he finished the repair with time to spare, and actually took the time and trouble to ask me if I had any other existing problems he could investigate! So, rather than taking off when his job was done, he stayed the full hour and checked out other appliances and explained to me how to do my own service maintenance. Overall I am satisfied because my problem was solved within a few days. Everyone I spoke with by phone was helpful, pleasant, and professional. The service representative who came to my home was much less impressive. He was several hours late, which caused me a lot of inconvenience, and then he called to say he couldn't find my address -- which is a joke, considering that my address is part of Manhattan's easy-to-follow numbered grid system. His lame behavior made me feel I should not trust him with my credit card information, which led to him calling me several times to bug me for payment, but I paid through the office instead. All's well that ends well. I would use Appliance Doctor again, but I'd have to request a different service rep. read more

I called Appliance Doctor after having a horrible experience with Household Appliance Repair who was recommended by Thermador for my dead refrigerator. Appliance Doctor service man (Nicholas) diagnosed the problem quickly (bad fuse-intermittent power going to frig) and arranged for an electrician to fix it as he was not allowed to do the electrical work. He understood other issues with the refrigerator's original installation and is working to resolve those issues. Funny that I got to my office and mentioned this good experience and someone else mentioned they too had an efficient, successful experience with Appliance Doctor repairing their microwave. I had a problem with my washing machine. I called for an appointment and was very happy with the attention that was taken to schedule me at a time that was both convinient for me and the shortest wait time from the time I called. I spoke with a wonderful customer service rep named Tom. He was very nice, very professional, took care of everything and made me feel confident that my machine would be fixed. When the person came to my house to fix my machine he was very polite and knowledgable. He explained that he needed to order a part and would have to come back another day to put the part in. Because of the quality service I received, I did not mind at all. I will definitely use this company in the future for all my appliance needs. read more

I purchased a Bosch wall oven/microwave combination. The microwave was dead out of the box and the power supply to the microwave from the back of the oven was also faulty. I called the company that I purchased it from and they made arrangements with the Appliance Doctor to send out a tech to find out what the issue was. It was determined that this unit must have slipped through the quality control at Bosch, I was very surprised myself knowing the quality of Bosch appliances. Long story short they sent in a report to Bosch to replace the entire unit which they have done. Although the original appointment was fine and the technician terrific, months passed and the broken part never arrived nor did Appliance Doctor follow up. When I would call to ask for an ETA, the same woman would just say she had no idea and oh, well. What's the point in having a good technician who can diagnose a problem if you won't provide the necessary part or repair? If you ended up paying for someone to come and diagnose but no part or repair ever took place, it's even worse. I think if it's something fixable without having to order a part and can be done in one visit, the technicians are fine and you might be ok, however, if a part needs to be ordered, you're out of luck. I just used Appliance Doctor for the first time to fix my Bosch dishwasher. The whole experience was great. I called late yesterday. They were able to get the Cert of Ins my building requires this morning and squeezed me in this afternoon. Felix showed up with mask and coverings over his shoes. He fixed my problems quite quickly. Then he showed me how I can fix them myself if it ever happens again. It turns out the Bosch manual tells you to press and hold the wrong button to reboot! He also showed me how to clean the filter. I may never need to call again for a d/w repair (fingers crossed) but I will call them immediately for any other appliances! I'll also happily recommend them to anyone I know. read more

My double drawer Fisher & Paykel dishwasher developed a raspy sound followed by poor irrigation. This morning I called The Appliance Doctor and was able to schedule an appointment for this afternoon. The Field Technician, Francis, was polite and quick in his diagnostic. He unraveled the mystery of the "Olive Pit" stuck in the filter pouch in a nano second. He taught me how to take apart and reassemble the base of the machine so i can check for obstructions myself in the future. I also learned to clean out the filter. I have called the Appliance Doctor twice now for repairs, once for a dryer and once for the sub-zero, and am so happy with their service. They are so professional, and so friendly, and easy to work with. For both repairs, I was able to get an appointment within a day or 2 of my phone call, and the technicians have been right on time, and very polite and helpful. I also felt like their charges were appropriate, I have had bad experiences through the years with other companies who I felt were being very shady with their invoices. This company is just a dispatch service. The technician they send you is not an employee and they take no responsibility for the work done. They just refer your job to an independent contractor. Recently my wife called them to repair our stove. While the technician was there he "accidentally" took the temperature knob from the stove with him when he left. When my wife called about it she was told that the technician had the part and that they would mail it back to us. We never received it and they refuse to provide a new one. They stated they are just dispatchers and have no control over the technician. Absolutely useless. Stay away! read more

I have used them 3x for my Viking fridge/freezer. Most recently my fridge broke, it took them 2 days to get to me to look at it, after 5pm. Then the part they ordered to repair it was a used damaged part (makes me wonder what other type of parts they have used for "fixing") and the technician realized it when he came to repair it. Finally I had to wait 2 more days for the new part to come in. A total of 6 days without a refrigerator! The customer service was terrible. I have left several messages for the manager and for the owner and still have not heard from them. STAY AWAY! They have terrible service for lower manhattan. read more

I am shocked at the low reviews on Yelp. I experienced very friendly phone service and I was impressed by how easy it was to deal with setting up an appointment (providing insurance certificates etc). They called back when they were still waiting for the insurance specifications from my building and when they had sent everything through. My technician, Kenneth, was the most helpful and friendly service person I have ever had. He took the time to explain the problem and how he was going to fix it. Last week we had our Viking 6 burner stove repaired. The repair person, Francis, was one of the nicest people we have ever met in our many years of construction on our victorian home. He arrived on time, was so thorough in explaining the problem to us and even took pictures of the parts he would have to replace to show us. I had been quoted an obscene price by another company to make minor repairs to about 10 chairs before being connected to Adam. He came over the day after I reached out to him, was kind, professional and fixed our chairs in under 2 hours. Did I mention the original company that I was talking to took a week to get me their expensive quote and gave me a hard time about coming to look at the chairs before locking us into paying for all sorts of parts that we didn't need? Appliance Doctor tried to repair a two year old dishwasher that had developed a short. For $410 we replaced the control board and today we were told the machine now also needs a motor. At this rate if we had bought another machine we would of spent the same amount of money as to piece together a machine that was beyond repair. If they were honest from the beginning that the machine could have other problems because of a short we would of not given them $410 to fix a machine that needs a new machine.
