I requested service from Andre I guess he's a representative for this company. I hope he's not a manager. I told him about my issue. He asked me to send him photos and I did via text. He text me back and said he can do the job next Tuesday or Wednesday. I picked Tuesday I asked him what time. It has been over 24hrs no response on the time at all. He hasn't followed up with me or anything . He remembered me when I we had a conversation about 8 months ago, I didn't remember him. But this is the 2nd time he's done this. If you can't do the job just state that. I believe last time he was suppose to come and take a look at the job and he flaked. He's very unprofessional. The staff at Mr. Bathtub were very helpful in a shower pan refurbish. First, they were able to move up a previously scheduled appointment, which already was above and beyond. When the technician came, he was punctual and helpful. He explained everything that he was going to be doing for the refurbish and was clear about what he was and wasn't capable of doing. The whole job took about three days, which included time for varnishes and primers to set. First off, I would like to thank Jose for such an amazing job!!! We rent an apartment in San Francisco and before we moved in the property management had one of their "handymen" refinish the bathtub with one of the off the shelf, Home Depot bathtub refinish products. It seemed fine until about 3 months into living in our apartment, when we started to notice the finish starting to chip off. Over the years the finish got worse and worse and started to look like a Jackson pollack painting in our tub. We told property management about it and they never did anything to remedy the problem. Luckily our landlord changed property management companys and they came out right away to meet us and see if there was any maintenance issues that needed to be taken care of. We showed them the tub and they immediately called Mr. Bathtub to setup an appointment. I missed their first call so I called back to schedule an appt and got a, "we are experiencing a higher than usual call volume" message. So I left a message and waited two days for a response with no avail. So over the next week and a half we left four messages and not until we got property management to call them, did we get a response. This encounter set my expectations pretty low for the type of service we we're going to receive. Then entered Jose!! My wife was at home with our 6 month old when he showed up to do his work. She said he was very personable and he explained the whole process before he got started. We were concerned about having our baby in the apartment when the refinishing was taking place but Jose did everything the mitigate our worries. He blocked off the bathroom door with a little air gap at the top and setup a fan that sucked the air out of the bathroom to the outside. I returned home after work while he was working on the tub and I could barely smell the refinishing product as I walked right by the bathroom. The rest of the apartment had no trace of smell at all. It was about a half and hour after I returned home that he came out of the bathroom and got to meet him and see the progress that was going on. When I looked in I was pleasantly surprised. He very meticulously taped off everything around the tub and covered everything in the room with rosin paper or plastic. As I work in construction, I could immediately see that Jose took a lot of pride in his trade. He went back in finished spraying the refinishing epoxy and after he came out, we were so amazed at the magic he performed. It looked like a brand new tub. We talked for a little bit before he started cleaning up and told me that the prep is the most important part of the process and most people don't take the time to properly perform this task. (Spoken like a true craftsman!!) He explained the steps to make sure the smell stayed in the bathroom and left his fan with us overnight to make sure that the smell didn't seep into the rest of the apartment. He said he would be back the next morning at 8:00 to finish caulking around the tub after the epoxy had set. He came back the next day promptly at 8 and finished his work within a half hour and left the bathroom without a trace that he had ever been there (except for the magical job he did on our tub) I would have given a 4 1/2 stars if I could. The only reason for not giving a perfect score was due to the amount of time it took the company to get back to us to setup and appointment. Thank you Mr. Bathtub for a wonderful end product and for employing a true craftsman like Jose. He made this encounter very easy and has exceeded our expectations!! read more

I hired Mr. Bathtub and it was a nightmare. Their repairs rendered my bathroom useless for over a week. Not to mention they had to return three times to redo the caulking that is still not correct. Mr. bathtub insisted on using non-silicone caulking which takes days to dry. However the caulking leaks and has fallen apart and grown mold. After they returned for the third time I'd given up on them. Not to mention that there's some minor cosmetic damage to the wall from the removal and replacement of the shower door. *Update* So my bathtub has been refinished for the third time. Here's to hoping the third time IS the charm. I will reserve judgement for a few weeks-a couple months to see how this refinish holds up this time. I will say, however, that the technician Joelle was very gracious. I absolutely cannot believe how awful their workmanship is. The first time we had them come it the work looked beautiful. The tub was used for about a year or so and then the house was VACANT for another year. We moved back in and noticed right away that there were some pieces of paint coming off of the bottom of the tub. We called Mr. Bathtub because they guarantee their work for 5 years. After having them cancel on us last minute several times they FINALLY came out to look at the tub and the tried to blame the damage on my 6 pound dog. All I could think was WTF? 1) My dog has really short nails and 2) I wash my dog in the utility sink in the garage so no dice on that one. After that someone who said he was the owner came out and literally told us that what had happened was an issue with the workmanship and wasn't supposed to have happened. He agreed to refinish the tub per the guarantee. Awesome. Fast forward from November 2010 to June 2011. Almost 50% of the new refinish job has come out of the tub (check out the pictures) in the exact same way as last time. It starts with small cracks in the paint and escalates into massive swaths of the paint just peeling off. We never even took an actual bath in the damn thing, only showers! We called Mr. Bathtub 2 months ago and left several messages only to be ignored. My bathtub is virtually unusable. I can't even wipe it down with a sponge. I don't even know what to do anymore. DO NOT TRUST MR. BATHTUB WITH YOUR TUB!!!!! read more

I have an original 1950's cast iron bathtub that was attached to a vanity. when we removed the vanity to replace it, the short side of the tub's glaze was stripped off. As was the edge of the tub that went the length of the other wall as we removed the old tiling. We tried one of those home depot do it yourself glazing kits and I'd say don't bother with wasting your money on it as it's just sand paper and paint, and will look horrible. Mr. Bathtub was able to squeeze me in on short notice, a woman service technician came, did an extremely great job at prep work, taping every inch of the newly tiled bathroom with 4mil plastic to ensure no overspray would get on anything. For an additional $50 they added a non slip surface which was a cool option. After a few hours, they left an exhaust fan to get the smell out (you DO NOT want to be home when they do it, or for at least a few hours after. We unfortunately had our door removed from the demo of the bathroom so they had they couldn't close the door to exhaust out just the window, the smell was really strong thru the house but dissipated after 3 or so hours later. They came back the next morning at 8am sharp, removed all their plastic coverings, caulked everything, polished it up and it now looks brand new. BTW, go to Bayshore plumbing and for $4 replace the overflow stop (it's the chrome thing in the tub to keep the tub from overflowing), Mr. Bathtub takes the old one out to reglaze anyway, and they put the new one in. All in all, excellent service, great results and i'll come back to review if it doesn't hold up long term. read more

My only complaint is that the pink chipped & rusted tub with blue tile surround that they resurfaced in a rental turned out so good (transformed to a clean, bright white) that I had to call them back to resurface the rest of the blue tile in the bathroom. I was trying to economize and just couldn't stand how bad the original tile looked next to their work.
