I've been coming here for over a year and had always been really happy, which makes this even more disappointing to write. The service itself has been good, and that's why I kept coming back. However, over the past few visits, the pricing has become frustrating. I completely understand that businesses need to raise prices over time, but what's not okay is the lack of communication. The last three times I've come in, my total has increased without any notice beforehand. Prices have nearly doubled since I first started coming, and at no point was I told in advance what the updated cost would be. It puts customers in an uncomfortable position at checkout and doesn't feel transparent or respectful. A quick heads-up before starting the service would make a big difference. I really hope they improve communication, because this could easily be a great long-term place if that piece was handled better. read more

Very disappointing experience. I've been bringing my 13-year-old mini Labradoodle, Mochi, to Mr. Bodhi's for about a year. Finding a groomer a senior dog trusts isn't easy, which makes this especially difficult. I was recently running about 15 minutes late and called around 20 minutes prior to give them a heads-up. As well as when I was on my way to make sure they got my message. When I arrived, I was informed that I would be charged a $15 late fee. I was surprised, as I'd never been late before, was a regular, loyal customer, have referred people to them, and pay $150 plus tip for grooming my 21-pound dog. As a small business owner myself, I understand the importance of policies, but I was disappointed that no grace was extended after I made the effort to communicate. I mentioned that I would probably be looking for another groomer because I felt disappointed by the lack of customer service. Mochi had already been taken to the back, but a short time later she was brought back out and I was informed they would no longer be providing services that day. The owner never came out to speak with me directly. There had been a few other disappointments over the past year that I chose to overlook, but this experience was the last straw. Lately, I had begun to feel that the focus was more on fees and policies than on customer relationships. While Nina is talented, kindness, communication, and making long-time customers feel valued matter too. Sadly, I now have to start over and find a new groomer for my senior dog. read more

I've been taking my senior (almost18yr old) pup Pinky since the day they opened. The groomers are always so gentle and loving toward my precious pup. Nina one of the partners is absolutely Amazing with Pinky. I would recommend the pet grooming services as well as the super supply of great pet food to everyone. I truly can't say enough good things about this place. I have two dogs, a lab mix who is the love of my life, he has a heart condition and is covered in fatty tumors and they're so gentle with him and do such a nice job, he gets excited to go see the Bodhi team. My other doggy, my girl Luna is a wild half malinois half gsd, the shedding is INSANE and they send her home looking and feeling incredible, my floors are hair free for weeks. The staff is friendly and responsive and they remember us when we come in. BRING YOUR DOGS HERE! I know there is another local chain and for sure check them out if you want to be treated like a jerk. Paid by card. Mr. Bodhi's is located in the same plaza as Achille's Coffee and offers plaza parking. I accidentally found this place on the way to coffee but glad I did! I just finished up at the beach and took my dog there for a DIY wash that cost $18. (If you check in with Yelp you get $3 off). All the workers here were super friendly and came to check on us frequently. The place is so clean and there were empty bath bins when I went in so I didn't have to wait. Mr. Bodhi's provides shampoo, ear cleaner, face cleaner, towels... everything you need. I would definitely recommend this place and will go back! read more

Our new favorite place for a wash!! After having a friend recommend Mr'd Bodhi's, we went after a long day at the beach! The store is super cute! That staff is very friendly and helpful! I love that they have tubs with a step and also side door! Sometimes its a bit of a fight to get him in the tub, and at 85 pounds, that's a lot of dog! No worries at Mr. Bodhi's! My first experience here was spectacular. Nina is a truly passionate groomer with a true way with dogs. She is excellent at the grooming and carries great products in her shop. My big german shepherd was a handful and the first time I was there she was super attentive, and answered questions etc. So much so that I posted a pic of her on my facebook page and was super excited about telling everyone. Unfortunately that was not the case my second time 1.5 years later. The business has clearly grown tremendously. I had a big flea issue in my home and needed to get my dog flea bathed as we got the house done. I called to make an appointment knowing he really needed the works. The person who took my call was short, curt and dismissive. I said that I would stay with him as he is a handful, and that is how we did it the last time I was there. She abruptly told me she doubted that would be possible and the first available appointment with Nina was several days away. I was eager for her to work with my dog again so I said fine. The receptionist seemed distracted and inconvenienced by my call. When I got there for the appt I was eager to ask 4 very important questions so I could navigate the flea prevention going forward and my dogs skin response to the scratching etc. The receptionist was again short and did not know I was supposed to be there. She also did not have that I needed the flea treatment for my dog which was the whole reason I was there. I was quoted 150.00 plus additional for the flea thing. I agreed. She took my dog and dismissed me telling me to leave as he was upset I had handed him over. I was told it would be a few hours and they would call me when they were at the final half hour. I got there within the half hour. The receptionist checking me out (different than the first one) made sure to show me where to tip. Which I did. And Nina came out with the dog. Told me she did not do a flea thing and focused on a medicated shampoo for his skin. Before I could ask even one of my questions she looked away at the next client and began talking with him. I walked out. They called to the dog... and that was it. By that point I was fed up and disillusioned. Here's the thing. They do a GREAT job on the dogs. I think the business is huge now especially for the small space. And I get being overwhelmed. But this was extremely upsetting. And a complete departure from the first time I was there. I felt really dismissed and the questions that I had really were important. I have no idea what shampoo they used, if he got the flea thing or what. He is itching just as bad as he was before I went. I expected to at least be able to get a word in edgewise but the entire experience was transactional, dismissive and I was told "Oh she has no time for all that, she just wants to get everyone in and out. You have to leave and he will be better once you do." If you are considering a groomer, I still think Nina is phenomenal at what she does and would never say to not bring your dog. I do think the receptionist is burnt out and over it with the humans. And she made that VERY clear. Businesses that are successful have growing pains. I get that... I got caught in the cross fire. And now have to sort out a bunch of things that I thought I could have gotten answered that day for the 150 plus tip that I paid. read more

She is so knowledgeable about pet nutrition, and you can tell she has a genuine love and passion for animals. She offered our dog, Apache, a little treat based on his dietary needs and was able to answer questions we had about dog food and nutrition. She is seriously such a gem! We also LOVED how they offered verified NON-TOXIC dog toys - still a rare find these days. We picked out a non-toxic llama plushy for Apache, who is obsessed with his new toy. The super kind and knowledgeable staff, organic dog food and treats made in the USA, and various non-toxic toys and other fun items really make this shop a cut above the rest. As we have done many times over the past year, and they were familiar with our dog and have used experienced groomers in the past. Our dog is a service dog and, due to the owner's traumatic brain injury, has appeared in children's television shows in Hollywood, CA. When we picked him up after his bath and grooming, to our dismay, Tuxedo's coat was taken down to the skin, and his top knot was nonexistent. We were completely distraught. The manager explained, "We were very busy and had a new groomer." Knowing that, why would they allow a new person to groom our dog? Brought my two babies here for groomings. My senior Bernese looks great and he seemed to tolerate everything better as they really took care to allow him to sit for a lot of the grooming. I also took my 5 month pyrenees to her first grooming there. She came back gorgeous and not at all freaked by the experience. Nina was my pet sitter before the store was opened. Nina and staff always take great care of the boys and treats them as their own. The boys love taking their daily walks to Mr.Bodhi's and they adore the store. It is important to find a store that truly cares about their customers and furry friends. I love that you can book online to meet your scheduling needs and all the groomers are fantastic. Nina is an expert on dog nutrition, health and grooming . Nina provides good sound advice. She really helped in extending the life of my dog that was diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago. I believe by taking her advice and education by placing him on an all keto diet helped slow the cancer and was a game changer. He is a very happy dog and enjoys his treats and food from Mr.Bodhi's. He still takes his short walks to Mr. Bodhi's and his eyes light up when he sees Nina. I believe Mr. Bodhi's and my great vet really helped extend his life and he just keeps proving the book wrong. He just turned 14 years and 6 months. All I can do is say thank you to Mr.Bodhi's. I think it is important to support out local business in Solana Beach. The store can special order treats and foods that meets your dogs or cats need. mr. bodhi's is great in many way, the owner and employees are very nice and the facility is very well kept. but i have repeatedly come in an hour before close and they told me that i can't do a self wash and that i can come back tomorrow...how does that help me now when my dog is dirty? i used to work at a similar business and i was able to close double the tubs in 20 minutes. they claim that they have to close their 3 tubs an hour before close in order to get everything clean, that is just ridiculous. they also close so early that if i have any hope of cleaning my dog after work i would have to break every speed limit. i really want to support this new small business but i am constantly let down. i hope i can improve my rating if policies are changed effectively. read more
