I had a very disappointing experience at my recent visit to Dirty Dogs Torrey Hills and would strongly discourage other dog owners from using their grooming services. I took my Goldendoodle in for a full grooming, which cost me $130, plus I left a $10 tip. I specifically requested a puppy face, but instead the groomer completely shaved his face and head. He no longer looks like my dog. I have been taking my dog here for number of years but this incident had left me seriously concerned and disappointed in their craft as well as customer service. The quality of the grooming was extremely poor. His coat was cut unevenly across his torso and legs, his ears were trimmed unevenly, and the overall finish looked rushed and unprofessional. To make matters worse, he didn't even seem clean afterward. It honestly felt like he either wasn't bathed at all or was washed with only water, without proper grooming shampoo. What made the experience even more frustrating was the lack of customer service. I called the store manager multiple times and was repeatedly promised a callback that never came. After waiting seven days, I finally reached someone who claimed to be store manager, only to be told that I could bring my dog back to have the grooming "fixed" but I would have to pay again, initially offered 15% discount but later increased to 50%. Charging me another $70 to correct a grooming job that they ruined is completely unreasonable. Since my dog's hair was already cut far too short, I don't even understand how they expected to fix it. This entire experience was frustrating and disappointing. I will never take my dog back to this location, and encourage other dog owners to carefully consider the risk before trusting Dirty Dogs Torrey Hills with their pets. read more

Been going to another location (which shall not be named) and having a lot of issues. Came here and was able to express all of our concerns. Our groomers Mish & Victoria are PHENOMENAL. They listened to what we wanted and what works best for our pups. They made our dogs feel comfortable and worked with their personalities. Our husky was deshedded perfectly. The terrier has the cutest little hair cut. Will continue to come here. Pro-tip: let them know your dog's temperament and quirks beforehand so they know what to work with. read more

I went to book again but found they decided to charge $25 for their "cage free" facility which is ridiculous considering this never used to be a charge and was just part of the grooming service. I've been going here with my shiba inu for over half a year because of how friendly and informative staff are. The first time we walked in was after visiting the next door dog park and I wanted to get my pup a treat. The staff immediately gave me a walk in tour and offered great advice on products to feed my picky eater! All and all they are extremely welcoming and do their best to help cater to your dog's needs! My shiba inu is a Stella and chewy girl for life now. I've never done their grooming services yet. I'm preparing to have my dog get her nails trimmed sometime soon (super scared since shibas are naturally dramatic and scream). Will update that later. read more

Had a great experience here giving my dog his first bath with the help of Dana! She informed me of how the self-wash worked and checked in with me throughout the process. The tools they have here were helpful in getting my puppy clean after a long hike. They provide shampoo, conditioner, after-care spray options, a wet brush, and blow dryer. The nozzle for the water was easy to use and had a ring for adjusting the water pressure. They have a leash attached to the bathtub to keep your dog in place, as well as a cushioned non-slip mat underneath to prevent slipping and sliding. Overall a great first time experience here! We even got a free 5lb bag of dog food (they had different options to what you can choose) with our wash. I usually go to unleashes by petco to do self wash for my two husky babies. But a couple weeks ago I decided to check this place out, and I'm never going back to unleashed. The self wash is nice they give you portioned shampoo and conditioner so you know how much to use. They have multiple brushes for scrubbing and even ear cleaners! We checked out a few items here since I'm big about natural dog food and treats for my pups. Yazmin helped us with choosing the right food for my picky eaters and let me tell you she is amazing!! She is super knowledgeable about the products that they carry, which was really refreshing! She knew all the details and asked questions to learn about what will be best for my dogs! Btw, my dogs loved the Stella and chewy raw coated food and will definitely be back there to purchase all the dog things we need. They also have donut treats for pups! Mine devoured them so quickly! DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! They don't call you when issues arises with your pet. Unfortunately, my most recent grooming appointment at the Torrey Hills location could not have been the furthest from pleasant. I have been a loyal customer for almost 3 years now. In the past, majority of my appointments have been great and unproblematic until recently. On this past Friday, my dog had a grooming appointment where I showed multiple pictures and discussed with the groomer what I wanted done with Livi's haircut. I explained how as of recently I have been wanting to keep her hair longer and reference it with pictures. The groomer explained to me the best blade for her body would be blade 4, which meant nothing to me, as I do not regularly work with these tools. When I saw Livi, it couldn't be more opposite of what I asked. At this point unfortunately I had paid for the service already, $150(including a $20 tip which I now want a refund for). After speaking with the assistant manager that night, who was very professional and understanding, I was told the manager of the store would call me on Saturday. After waiting 3 days with no contact, I decided to call back and I spoke with Julie. I cannot even begin to explain how unprofessional Julie was to me. She was extremely rude, opening our conversation with, "what do you want me to do about this'' verbatim. She then went on to say "if you didn't like the cut, why did you tip the groomer" in a very rude and condescending tone. She completely disregarded me and kept stating that the notes she has does not align with what I am saying. In my opinion, this is completely unprofessional and not a way to treat dissatisfied paying customer. I will not be returning to this establishment and urge future customers to avoid. read more

My new favorite pet place. I was tired of giving my Husky baby a bath at home because it was a disaster. I found this place and went on Saturday and it was amazing. Very clean place and very friendly staff. The girl who helped me was super nice and helpful. I was able to dry comb my Husky Calli which took a while. The comb they provided did one amazing job. The shampoo and conditioner was great and my dog looks great. She didn't like the blow dryer at all. She was not having that evil so the nice girl gave me more towels. Great place for the price of $18. Many other Self Washes don't include a lot. This place is now my new self wash place. I recently paid $102 for a complete grooming on my Cavalier King Charles. Knowing that this was a more difficult dog to groom, I also paid $20 for a tip before I saw him (A big mistake on my part). He was barely touched. His tail looked like it had never been trimmed as I requested. They did an absolute garbage groom on our beautiful boy and when I tried to talk to them about it, I was completely ignored. $122 wasted. Do not come here for a grooming. I had booked a dog-e style for my pup, but left with a buzz cut puppy. Unfortunately, she had subdermal cuts and red nicks all over her stomach from the grooming. Additionally, when I made the appointment, I was told that I could stay in the shop to monitor her. However, they asked me to leave as soon as I dropped off my dog. My pup has a sweet and energetic temperament. However, she's been acting sluggish and anxious from the moment I picked her up from Dirty Dogs, which is very odd. My daughter and I went to get our dog Luna washed and Grace helped us with the shampoo and conditioner. Afterwards we decided to get the Al cart service. So Grace took Luna to get things done so I went to the register and gave my phone number and I paid for the baths and services. Paid for the service and left a tip. After Luna came out , Grace recommended that I should cut Luna nails since they were long. So I gave Luna back to Grace to cut her nails and a girl asked for my phone number again and rang me up for the nail trim for $22. Grace returned Luna to me after cutting her nails and said don't forget to pay for her nails. I told her I paid it already. I put a sweater on Luna and left. About 10 minutes later. Grace calls me and tells me to come back because I haven't paid. I told her I already paid and I received a receipt. She told me she check and said I didn't pay and that I had to come back and pay. I told her I have receipts to prove I paid. She told me to come back and show her the receipt. I drove back in the rain and walked into the shop and as I was walking into the store. She just says oh I just saw that you did pay. I can't believe she would accuse me for not paying when i told her I paid and even gave my phone number and had a receipt . This is my first time at this location and it's so much better than Del Mar Highlands. The staff is amazing and they took such good care of my fur baby. Aspen (my doggie) sheds like crazy so I had her extra deshedded with the premium scrub, and she is so clean and beautiful like a princess.. I think aspen thought we were at the shelter or something because she did NOT want to be there but Brittany made my pup feel safe and sound. Absolutely amazing grooming! Also fairly inexpensive from what I'm used to paying. I have a german shepherd husky mix, and PetSmart would charge me $77 for a basic bath, not even including nail trim, teeth brush, and a deshed treatment. I'm used to paying around $100+ for Jax. But here, I paid $69!!! I forgot to get the nice lady's name but she did amazing with Jax. He looks and smells clean, his breath doesn't stink anymore and his teeth are nice and white! Also, Jax has never gotten his nails drummeled until today and I absolutely love that for him because his nails aren't as sharp anymore. my little family (myself, my bf and our aussie) went to the Del Mar dog beach yesterday for our boy to burn some energy. we planned to give him a bath after running around in the water and sand, and on the way home we found this cute little dog shop that had self wash stations to wash your dog! it was $18 for shampoo, conditioner, ear wash, and a dryer. It was so worth it. We usually go to petco unleashed, and their self wash is $15 but doesn't include the ear cleaner and dryer. My boyfriend and I made it a fun activity taking turns using the water pik to rinse our dog and the dryer to dry his fur. I started the reward program, and that made my first wash $10 off, so I only paid $8. My dog was clean and fluffy afterwards, and I'm glad they have more locations because we're coming back here again! read more

If I could leave a zero rating I would. December 1. I brought my dog in for grooming seven hours after the appointment my sweet little baby was dead on my floor. I reached out to dirty dogs to find out what kind of products they used or if anything unusual happened during the appointment, maybe the harness being too tight on the neck, the dog, jumping off the table, etc. they assured me everything went as expected. Obviously I was a complete wreck after the loss of my beloved fur baby of 12 years. Julie the Manager, seem to have no compassion in my current situation. She did apologize for what happened, but seem to immediately go into protection mode, rather than helping me figure out what happened. Not giving me any information and saying that they would have to speak to all parties involved before getting back to me. it wasn't until days later when I reach back out to them for feedback and I was just told everything went as normal, and there was no reason to believe my dog died because of something they did. Julie's voice was completely upbeat with no sympathy to my situation as I cried on the phone with her. I asked to speak to someone higher up and she told me her manager Amanda would reach out to me. It was days before I had any response from Amanda. She eventually left me one voicemail and never attempted another outreach. When I finally got in touch with Amanda, I told her I was disappointed that I had not spoken with her sooner considering the severity of the situation, and she explained she left me a voicemail which I understand but I feel there should've been a better attempt to address the situation. I was told by Julie that dirty dogs wanted to send me flowers but those never arrived either. I'm so disappointed on how this situation was handled and I still feel like I don't have any answers or sympathy from this company. I would highly recommend taking your pet elsewhere. They are super nice here and love our animals when we take them in. The also offer Taste of the Wild, which is our food of choice for our doggies. The only thing I will say is that their stock isn't quite great, but it's to be understood because it is a boutique style pet store. Their Taste of the Wild shipment comes in Friday, so come or call before you grab your food. They are always willing to set aside food for you! They also have a great rewards program for points to turn into grooming services of all kinds. We've only used their nail trimming service so far. Also ask for your dog's nails to be trimmed short. I absolutely love this specific location! I have been taking my dog to this location for years and we've tried other locations before, yet this one is always our favorite. When we drive in he already knows where we are and gets excited in the car. We are always greeted by friendly and welcoming faces assuring I can trust my dog to be well taken care of. Every time I pick him up after service you can tell how happy he is. This was never told to me when I booked the appointment nor has it happened before. Hence I was over the extra hour by 15 min and they charged me $15. We were able to get a Sani-trim and they did a great job! We returned the next day and was assisted by Aaron. This was a great help since it was our first time to bath our 20 week puppy!
