After a long post COVID layoff, it was a pleasant trip back to Sydnee's with my new 1 1/2 year old Golden Retriever, Echo Vici. Hannah boldly took the assignment for Echo's first full grooming experience and he loved it! The new Solana Beach location is more roomy and casual for the dogs. It gives them more opportunity to socialize with other dogs, which has always been a great feature at Sydnee's. BEWARE!! I have taken my dog here for about 4 years now and always had a good experience even through recent changes in staff. What happened on January 19 is very disturbing. My pup is usually there for 3 hours. I called at about 3.5 hours and they said he would be delayed for another hour due to their bather going home sick. When I picked up Dante he was having problems keeping his eyes open. I thought he was just tired because he's a senior and he was there for so long...4.5 hours vs the usual 3. All evening he had his eyes closed and occasionally pawed at them. We went to bed early and I assumed he'd be better in the morning. The next day was the same. He couldn't keep his eyes open and was pawing at them. I called his vet and got him in for an emergency appointment. They did a stain on his eyes and told me that something had irritated them, especially the left one. I called and spoke to his groomer, Kim, She said nothing unusual had happened and that their products haven't changed. She said she bathed him herself since the bather wasn't there. The vet disagrees and said they definitely got something in his eyes. When Sydnee's sent an email asking for a review I explained what happened and got an automated reply that someone would be in touch. I wasn't reimbursed my groom charges and I'm at about $400-500 in vet charges: first initial emergency visit, stain, eye drops, 2 follow appointments including another with stain, and another one coming up next week. No, the vet isn't overdoing it. I trust them completely. They say the eyes need to be carefully monitored when injured like this. More than the money is the fact that it makes me sick that something like this could happen. He's our baby and I hate seeing him hurt. I'm wondering if someone accidentally got hand sanitizer in his eyes. There are so many bottles of it sitting around these days. Kim said she'd make a note of it for next time. Ummm....no, there won't be a next time. I can't believe Sydnee's ownership/management hasn't been in touch. I rarely do reviews, but I hope this prevents someone else's baby from being hurt. Follow up comment in response to Monique: no, it wasn't windy the day we were there. The wind started a few days later. I remember because it was windy when we went for the follow up appointment for his eyes. Not the original emergency appointment but the follow up a few days after. His eyes were fine when I dropped him off and squinty when I picked him up. read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG HERE. Please never take your dog here. My mini schnauzer was groomed here and they injured her neck so badly that she could barely eat and cut her badly. My dog has been regularly groomed her whole life and is used to the groomers. We had just moved to the area and when I picked her up she was clearly upset and desperate to leave, which was unlike her. When we got home we realized that they had shaved off a giant schnauzer bump that had been on her side (this was large and we let them know about it before the haircut) and they just shaved it off which must have been so painful. I don't know what they did to her neck, and I have nightmares thinking about what must have happened, but she was so sore she couldn't eat. We took her right into the vet, and they confirmed that something must have been around her neck and pulled extremely hard to injure her like that. No one said anything to us about the cut or that anything had happened during her appointment, they just said she was good during her appointment. When I called management they would never admit anything was wrong, and they didn't even apologize. They defended the groomer saying that she was a nice person. I know my dog and I know that they mistreated her, scared her, and injured her. I spoke with a lawyer to pursue legal action, but unfortunately there are not enough laws in California that protect dogs and basically nothing could be done. It honestly makes me feel helpless that all I can do is write this review. This place should be shut down. Please don't trust this groomer with your pets. EDIT: I see that the manager has responded saying that I "must have the wrong shop". I definitely do not have the wrong shop. This is the exact location in Solana Beach, CA that I took my dog to, but nice try. I did call multiple times and spoke with the manager who never acknowledged or even apologized for my dog's injuries and trauma. All she said was "I know that groomer and that's not who she is". I asked to speak with the owner, and never got a response. To be called a troll and a red flag on here is honestly infuriating and I hope that's a red flag to any future/existing customers. This is the exact location and business that I took my dog to, and my review is 1000% honest. My only intention is to prevent other pets from being harmed at this establishment. read more

I've been taking my havanese here for almost a year, and am so thrilled with my experience! When we moved to the area a couple of years ago, I had the hardest time finding a good groomer, and subsequently tried two different groomers who gave my dog terrible haircuts. Upon recommendation, I tried Sydnee's, and am so glad that I did. Monique is wonderful, and does a great job with my dog. His haircut is exactly what I asked her for (she initially asked me to show her pictures so she could give him the haircut I wanted), and he always comes home happy and clean. I can tell that he's comfortable with her because when I pick him up, he's always content to lay down on the floor while I pay and chat with her. Not only is the haircut great, but I always feel like my dog is taken care of, which is the most important part! I've told many friends and family about how happy I've been with Monique and her grooming experience. Avoid at all costs. I do not feel it is an exaggeration to state that if given a blindfold and dull scissors I could give my golden retriever a more even cut. I've given this place two chances - they shaved my dog both times and the second time they left her ears long and uneven. After recovering from the fact that they shaved my golden after I BEGGED them not to at drop off, I brought her back a couple of weeks later so they could at least even out her ears which looked just ridiculous and long/shaggy compared to the brutal haircut. The groomer did such a hack job on her ears that I was lef speechless. I came home, I waited 6 hours to calm down, and have decided I had to warn others. Finally.. My search for a groomer in north county has come to an end! :D *throws confetti in the air* Finding a groomer that you like for your beloved fur kid is like finding a hairdresser for yourself. Once you find one, you hope to never have to go to anyone else. Unfortunately, taking a new job meant we had to move further away from Monster's previous groomer. After trying out a few groomers in north county, I decided to continue making the 45 min trek down to University Heights to our former groomer. Well, now that our former groomer is no longer at the shop we used to frequent, I was forced to go on my hunt for a groomer once again. I stumbled upon Sydnee's on yelp and decided to give them a try. Best decision EVER! Kristina gave Monster the most adorable cut! She followed my instructions on cutting his fur short and was somehow still able to round out his paws just the way I like them. AND he came home with a cute little bandana! (pic uploaded) Grooming is done out in the open, meaning dogs are not taken to some back room hidden from your view. Also, they're left out to roam after they're done (assuming that they do well with other dogs). Monster was out and about when I went to pick him up and I thought they would've kept him locked away since he's a little anti-social booger, but they said he was a very good boy :) Prices are comparable to groomers in the area (in my experience) and they give a discount to new clients! Parking is abundant (located in a shopping center). And the groomers are extremely friendly and accommodating. I called in first thing in the morning and they were able to fit me in later that morning. Also, I was late in picking up Monster when they were done (2 hours after they called me), and they were really nice about it. :) With all of that being said, I can't wait to take Monster back in 2 months for another grooming session! Used to take my cavaliers here and never had issues. Recently tried to schedule something with my new dog. Booked something for the 1st appt of the day. I get a text right before the appt saying groomer is taking a personal day. Understandable and things happen. So we rescheduled for the following day. Got to Sydnee's for the 8am. No one was there... waited 20 min and still the place was empty. Groomer texted 45 later saying they slept past there alarm. Casey, our dog, is slightly difficult to groom; extremely thick coat, spoiled and expectation is high when it comes to this dog. When we walked in the place is clean, bright, friendly and inviting. We were asked a series of questions including our vet and info about Casey's shot records; impressive. It's nerve wracking trying a new groomer but Laura and Sydnee's did not disappoint. We were looking for a clean and friendly place that would carefully grind our 15 year old yorkie's nails, clip his dew claws, and pluck his ears. The person we talked to on the phone at Sydnee's was very nice and informative and said we could stop by any time. We stopped by shortly afterwards and our Yorkie, Koa, was immediately serviced upon arrival. The groomer was very caring and knowledgeable, paying special attention to Koa's fragile joints while handling him. She did an excellent job and the price for the services was the best around Solana Beach. The groomer also gave us great advice on clipping Koa's hair if we decided to do it ourselves. I've been on the hunt for a decent dog grooming location every since I moved down to SD from the OC area. Of course my trusty Yelp reviewers led me here, at Sydnee's. I always have reservations taking my fur baby to new places because she's quite the scaredy-cat (-dog?) and because I worry that she's going to get nicked by the scissors. However, as soon as I walked into the store for my appointment, I saw another owner coming in to pick-up her dog for their first visit as well and she was ecstatic with the results. This was reassuring for me that I was leaving my girl in good hands. Zhasani Myers was my stylist for the day and I think she did a great job. She even finished with 30 minutes to spare from the expected time. When I got home, I received several compliments from family members about how nicely her haircut turned out. One thing I would change is that I wished the hair around her face was cut a tad shorter. However, when I brought this up to the staff's attention before leaving, they were happy to take the additional 5 minutes to do the trim. The cost is definitely on the pricier side, but they have a neat Pooch Membership program where you pay $20/month for 3 basic, but unlimited services--which I am seriously considering signing up for. Needless to say, my hunt for a dog groomer in SD ends here. read more

I was extremely satisfied with the service, care and hair cut for my standard poodle. I was able to get an appointment quickly. The groomer did a superb job which turned out exactly the way I want it. My older dog who does not like to get groomed was well cared for by the staff. She did not appear to be traumatized by the experience and quickly returned to her usual schedule. I appreciate that they dressed her up in bows and bandana. Booked my dog for a Wash, brush and extra trim. Mind you, he got a wash and summer cut 6 months before for $65. When booked, was not told price. My friend dropped him off and wasn't sure of price. They told her they didn't quote price and she said okay. They tried to call me at work and I called back 20 minutes later. They informed me prices went up and now it was $80! for an extra trim! Not a haircut. I finally give in and say okay. They now tell me that they don't have time anymore to give him a trim, only a wash. Wow! Told them I'd be right there to get him and took him straight to Petsmart that did a fantastic job for $47. Thank you Petsmart for taking me right away. Sydnee's has lost customer service and me. The groomer gave me so much attitude and push back when I asked for her to re do it. When I asked for the manager, she said she was the manager!!! What the?! When I asked to speak to the owner she said she would take my information and give it to her. Never got a call!! Also, the receptionist is rude and unkind. There is zero responsibility in the actions that this business takes. It is disappointing that there are places that "service" dogs and don't care to treat them as the loving pets that they are. First time today for my dogter at this groomer. Service- 5 star Staff are very friendly and prompt. They got the paper done for me to sign and off my dog goes. Five star for the quality of the service. They were good about giving me a call when she was ready and as promised, she was ready in about 3 hours from drop off time. Facility- 5 star Clean and the area where dogs are being groomed is all window so you can see in. Dogs looked happy and no barking dog or crying dogs. Staff all seem to be very pet-loving which is a plus. Hair cut- 4 star I had to take 1 star off for the cut on her face. Her teddy bear cut on the face was uneven as well as her ears- one side was bigger than the other. Also, hair inside of her ear wasn't plucked. body and the tail was done beautifully! Pricing- 5 star With the first time 20% discount, I paid $44+tip. So without discount, it would have been $55 for my 10lb dog. Cut, nail trim, anal glands, teeth, ear cleaning, shampoo (various options), and a bow is included in the price. Other- 4 star I had to take 1/2 star off as they didn't ask for any immunization records besides checking for Rabies tag on the harness. In the past, places have asked for other shots to be current such as Bordetella (Kennel Cough) and provide a documentation. Granted this is in a good neighborhood and I expect fellow dog parent to know better, I would feel more safe knowing other dogs that are in there are also up to date on the vaccine and don't have any health problems that can spread. I love my dog and I also don't want other people's dog to get sick either. read more

I have been to a different Sydnee's location before and had a great experience but as happens when you find a good dog groomer they get pretty booked up so I decided to try the Solana beach location. Paige was our assigned groomer and she was just as awesome as the last location. She obviously is both an experienced and talented groomer and seemed super calm and patient. She did a fantastic job with Rory my 10 y/o golden retriever! He looks amazing and when I got there to pick him up he seemed super relaxed and okay with the experience. I also liked how open the place was and the non-kenneling. Will definitely be back and in fact will be booking next appt within the week to make sure we can get in with Paige again. read more
