They had no turn over in the time I was there unlike other Doggy daycare centers. Danny and Jimmy were so happy to see Shadow and very patient with all the dogs. I would see them walking around the neighborhood and they were always calm and relaxed with the dogs. After a month, shadow began pulling me when we got close because he loved being there so much. Unfortunately, because my dog has trauma from having had his dewclaws removed (I didn't do it to him - he's a rescue) he would not allow the groomer to clip his toenails. They asked us to come in and help but our dog was just so stressed out at that point that we couldn't touch his paws without him going into a panic. This is unfortunate because the main reason I was paying a groomer was to get help with clipping his claws. I just can't do it myself. I guess next time we can try giving him some anti-anxiety medication and see if that works. The groomer did take a little off the price because of not being able to cut his nails. I would recommend this groomer to anyone who has a well-behaved dog who is amenable to being groomed. I would not recommend them if you have an anxious or fearful dog. The haircut itself was really perfect and beautiful. I will probably try another groomer just because I need my dog's claws cut short, but if my dog was better behaved I would go back to this place because they give good haircuts.

Also a quick cursory scroll of the 5star reviews show that they skew towards smaller, "cute" dogs. Further evidence that they are falsely advertising their services. If you can only handle small dogs, please just make that clear so that nobody can waste their time here again. In conclusion: Parents of pitties beware of this place!! And other pet parents-- please make an effort to support pet daycares that will provide service to all dogs, especially if they have done nothing wrong, and have always been good dogs. Zizou takes her time trusting people and dogs and everyone there has been so patient and supportive of her. I've seen clear differences in her since she first stayed at the clubhouse. I see a marked difference in her confidence around other dogs. Before going to the clubhouse, she would typically wander from dog to dog and never seem totally at ease. It's improved since I brought her home a year ago and she's always having fun but it was like she was still trying to figure out how to play with other dogs. Occasionally, she'd find a dog friend to play with for an extended time but not always. Recently, I haven't noticed any of that awkwardness from her. At the park, she confidently joins in groups of other dogs playing. She even got dogs who weren't doing anything to start playing around with her. I an really proud of her. Even during pickup, she's gotten better. She used to be so nervous around Chris when he's come to get her in the mornings, but each day she's more and more comfortable. I know this is because of Alex, Ariel, Chris, Sean, and the clubhouse. They've let Zizou take the time she needs. They are happy when she does anything, however small, to show that she trusts them. There's no other feeling like peace of mind knowing that Zizou is in the hands of people who want her to be happy! Also because of her size (75lb German Shepherd mix) the other day care spot in the area shied away from her, isolating her, despite that she has never shown any signs of aggression. Everyone at Gotham is well trained for dogs of all sizes and they've never once treated her that way. They love all dogs!

Alex is so amazing with Beckett and every other dog I've seen her with. WE LOVE HER. In fact, I think Beckett might love her more than he loves us...or at least equally! You can just tell that they are true dog lovers, not just in the business to make money or whatever. Alex and her crew at Gotham Canine Club are simply the absolute best in dog care/boarding/training/walking. Above and beyond anything I could have expected. Our dog is spoiled and I didn't think anyone would understand that he's basically like our child. Because of our dog having parvo and other digestive issues as a pup, we have to cook his food for him (every dog food we've found has been too rich and makes him sick). I know that makes us seem like crazy dog people, but they take it in stride and don't judge us, ha. We've boarded Beckett with them a few times at "the Clubhouse." Pickup and dropoff is included in their pricing, which is about $60/night, I think. At least one person, if not more, is with the dogs there 24/7, and they send us text, emails, and photo updates at least twice a day. I have to admit, when I first saw the pictures of their boarding facility, I thought it was just a small concrete backyard with tiny dogs and pit bulls. (I have nothing against tiny dogs or pit bulls at all, I just wasn't sure that my high-energy barky coonhound would be a great fit there.) I couldn't have been more wrong! First of all, they vet all boarders with a short visit to make sure they'll get along with the other dogs there. Second, they walk them a few times a day. Beckett, who gets 3+ hours off-leash per day in Central Park, always comes home happy and tired! (And for the record, if I did have a problem dog who needed training or something, I'd definitely hire Gotham Canine Club--I've heard of the wonders they've worked with all kinds of dogs!) My husband injured his back recently and couldn't walk our dog for a while, so we've had Alex walking Beckett a few nights a week. Usually he's reluctant to leave with anyone other than us and his other favorite walker, but he practically runs out the door when Alex shows up. She's been super-flexible with our schedules and a true lifesaver. In summary: Having a dog--especially a 115-pound super-energetic dog--in NYC can be tough. Gotham Canine Club makes it a lot easier. I've even become friends with Alex. She's just that awesome.

I have two brothers (Asian shorthairs) who Michael and the lovely, gracious Marixa have taken care of for the last ten years. I cannot tell you the peace of mind and security they provide when they sit for my cats. With each visit, they clean the litterbox and feed the guys, play with them, and then provide a detailed email report of how the visit went. (I think because of their insecurities and failure to listen to our instructions.) In short, we don't trust them and our dog hated it there. I think they're fine if your dog is easy but there are much better places, at better rates, in the area.
