A true Algiers staple. Real hole in the wall energy, but don't let that fool you... they should be way bigger than they are. The donuts? Baby... Pillowy soft, moist, and fried perfectly. Like melt in your mouth good. They soooo good. The classic glazed is my go-to every time, but I'll grab other flavors for my coworkers too. Now I will say, they lean a little sweeter than your average donut, but that didn't stop NOTHING. Still tearing them up. I don't get to go as often as I'd like because it's the opposite direction from my job and my son's school, but when I do? Yeah... it's worth it every time. This is definitely my preferred donut shop. And the prices? Very reasonable. They really the front runners of the donut game from Algiers to Harvey. I said what I said. The grits were really bland. I did ask for no butter on the grits and it was full of butter. The turkey bacon was smelly and did not eat it. Small bakery on the Westbank where you can get donuts, beignets, cakes, king cakes, and even a hot breakfast plate. It's located in a strip mall just down the street from Karr high school. The inside is small, but there are a few high top tables to sit and eat. They're open until 5:00pm, but I'd suggest that you get their early if you'd like anything other than beignets. I arrived around noon and the donut case was pretty sparse. There were a few cakes in the pastry case as well, but the glazed beignets are the star of the show here and the reason why I came. You can get them hot and fresh at any time of the day. They make them to order, so if you're getting more than I'd say a half dozen be prepared for a wait. When I went there was only one person working and she had a large order that she was working on. I waited over an hour for three dozen beignets. The young lady working was very kind and apologetic about the wait, but it wasn't her fault. Only so much you can do when you're short staffed. I had no issues here, but again, just be mindful if you visit. The wait paid off in the end though as everyone that got their hands on one of the warm delights adored them. Hopefully they can get some more staff soon as I'd love to try some of the other pastries and a breakfast sandwich. read more

The best neighborhood bakery! I've lived very close to Mr. B's (previously Honey Whip Donuts) for a very long time now and I can confidently say that I have never come across a bakery quite like it. For the longest time I would just get the donuts, which are to die for, but this year I finally tried one of their king cakes and OMG it was amazing! It is very similar to Randazzo's king cakes, so if you like those, then you'll definitely like Mr. B's king cakes. I may have even liked Mr. B's more than Randazzo's.
