I'm a local and this place has really gone downhill which is why you probably won't see a single customer inside. I entered and the worker unenthusiastically stood up from his seat. I said, hey how are you. He spoke and I said excuse me because I couldn't hear what was said. Turns out he had AirPods in and didn't even acknowledge that I had spoken. He just continued his conversation with no regards to my greeting. I ordered my two donuts and the entire transaction was in silence. The donuts are very subpar, the only reason i return is because of convenience. After ordering a total wasn't given, no receipt was offered, and no farewell. A great donut spot! This was close to our hotel and we came here to scope things out. I came here for breakfast before leaving the hotel. I had to let someone go ahead of me as I needed some more time to peruse the offerings. I ended up going with the Andes Mints donut. WOW! They did not skimp on the toppings! Each donut is the size of a medium dinner plate! Holy cow. It kind of hurt after the three of us finished six donuts... but they were so good we couldn't stop eating. New Orleans does everything big and bold, but these donuts are something else. They're not overly sweet, the dough is just right, not too chewy, not too soft , just perfectly balanced. Hands down some of the best donuts in New Orleans. There are so many creative and interesting flavors. My favorites were the King Cake donut and the fritters. Go try a variety and find your own favorites. There's paid parking nearby, but if you're staying close, I'd definitely recommend walking over. I think the turn over sales are not what they should be and they are keeping the donuts. I bought 3 and 2 were old and hard. The service was not friendly which also contributed to lack of customers. The cashier most days sits out in front I think waiting on customers and when you're there he isn't friendly. The blueberry streusel is divine. It's a blueberry cake donut and I don't think it even needs the streusel, it's absolutely decadent. The chocolate coconut caramel is on a chocolate cake donut, which is perfectly done and topped with caramel and coconut. I like it but the topping could've been more... wet. We walked pass Hurts Donuts on the way to Chapter IV leaving the Hyatt Regency, and the smell was making my taste buds dance, and my tummy sing. They have so many gorgeous decorative pastries. I just wanted two donut holes. Because I was so fully from Chapter IV, they lady handed me two donut holes and they just melts in your mouth. They are slightly larger than any other donut holes I've ever had. My friend still placed an order of a dozen and a half, and what ever else he selected. They have a 2.5 pound cinnamon roll, and no other cinnamon rolls to offer. that Cinnamon roll can feed a half a dozen of people. Only suggest I would make is possible place the donut holes in a tiny box, it was sticky on the outside of the bag when I heated them up for breakfast the following day... and they still as very good. While staying at the Hyatt Regency, which is right next door, I saw this place one morning and the line inside indicated it might be a popular donuts joint, so I stopped in. I intended to simply buy a single donut, because I had to travel to the airport and fly back home in a few hours, but after looking at their very impressive selection of donuts in the display case, I opted for a half dozen instead. We tried several different kinds and were crazy about the blueberry streusel, red velvet and Bavarian cream with chocolate. We didn't really care for the Bart Simpson (chocolate cake with butter finger sprinkles). The chocolate cake was on the dry side and just mediocre. We didn't have coffee but they have plenty to chose from! Cappuccinos, lattes, etc. We were told that the donuts stay good for a few days. Loved that! They have a large selection of very pretty doughnuts. All that decorating is probably why freshness appears to be an issue. Placed an Uber eats order for a random assortment and requested no fruit and they mostly delivered. I ended up with the following half dozen: Jesus, Andes mint, Caramel delight, Streusel, Blueberry, and Old fashioned and I added on a Cookie Monster as well. I have to say, the streusel one was probably my favorite. It was incredibly fluffy and light and amazing. Second favorite was probably the old fashioned. Third may have been Jesus. I would say I didn't love the caramel delight as it had coconut on it and the cake donut was way too dense. I didn't mind that I got Blueberry actually and it had a lot of flavor but it may have been too much flavor. Mint was definitely a lot of flavor but again was overpowering. Cookie Monster could probably be a kids favorite and it was a good yeast donut but I think the blue goop just got to me and also colored my lips blue. read more

The young lady cleaning with the bleach was also the one handling the money/credit cards and the food (donuts). Not her fault. But this is not standard food service handling. Outside of parking being illegal in front, there is nothing but love for Hurts! They were out of bags on my first visit but who needs a bag when you need to eat that donut! They have 4 levels of donuts that are a dollar more by each level of fanciness. And the donut is more like cake. So much more than a donut, light and rich, fluffy and delicious, what can I say? I stumbled in bummed because I saw the bus leave me, but a day and one red velvet cream cheese donut later, served by a nice lady--Hurts became my family's "date day", popping by the next morning and securing a Lil Dirty lol (1/2 dz).
