I had a booking appointment today with this groomer. I have a very elderly cat with arthritis who is medicated for severe anxiety with regular klonopin. For this reason, we are extremely careful about having her groomed in home at this point in her life. She has been groomed several times in the six years we have had her. I exchanged emails with mr. cat regarding what I was looking for which was to have my cat dematted, and likely shaved. I requested no water and that I would potentially want her nails and ears cleaned, but that was not the main goal. He agreed. Upon receiving the booking agreement and legal release, I noted that the groomers would not be liable for any injury to the animal, and that I was not allowed to record or be in eyesight of the grooming. This is in and of itself self made me extremely uncomfortable, but as they have been in the business for 25 years, I moved forward. When the groomer arrived, I had set him up in the bathroom as opposed to the kitchen as requested per the email, because we simply did not have the space in the kitchen, and my cat was likely to crawl onto the gas stove if she tried to move away from him in the space he initially requested. Nevertheless, we did what he asked and started to move things around in the kitchen. At this time he then requested that I re-sign the agreement then asked me what services I required, and then abrasively spoke to me about the fact that I could not receive what we had initially discussed in the emails. In fact, he said he never shaves cats, so at this point I am wondering why this man is in my home at all. He became short, condescending and angry, and told me that my stress was the issue, when I simply expressed I was not comfortable with the abrasiveness of our current exchange. I was concerned that if we couldn't professionally speak about the services, there was no way I could move forward with the appointment. Respectfully, I told him, "the way you are interacting with me is stressing me out and I don't feel comfortable with you in my space" and asked him to leave. I thanked him for his time and apologized for wasting it. He then called me abusive approximately 10 times while screaming in my lobby, then outside my window and once more from his car door as he left. The behavior was so odd that I took a picture of his license plate in case he came back to shout outside my house again. This man has quite a temper and is not open to discussion or negotiation of any kind. Furthermore, he didn't recall anything we had discussed and effectively told me that regardless of what I requested - for the safety and health of my cat - I would get whatever he felt was right. I respect people's mastery of their work, the embarrassment and anger I caused by canceling, and the need to tell stupid customers that you know better. I was in the service industry for years. BUT there are professional ways of doing things and there are ways that get you thrown out of someone's house. I felt uncomfortable with him in my space, and I certainly would not allow him to be alone with my animal for any time. read more
