Down to two stars because I recently hired a plumber to diagnose and repair a gas leak and it was traced to a furnace fitting that they installed in the course of replacing my furnace. This was my first time needing an A/C replacement. I called 5 different places, mostly from top recommended on yelp. They all quoted me a minimum of 6k and couldn't get out to even look at it for 3 weeks due to the weather getting super hot and business picking up. I have used Mr. Cool twice now, once for the install of a new boiler (10/2019) and again at the start of summer 2020 for an evaporative cooler with 5 ducts installed through the ceiling and attic. Our furnace died right before a multi-day snow storm hit Denver, and John and Carlos were total lifesavers! John, who I believe is the owner, was super quick to respond to our yelp message and came out to our house on a Saturday morning to make an initial diagnosis. John recommended a part replacement which Carlos showed up first thing Monday morning to install. The part helped but ultimately didn't solve the problem, so we started talking about furnace replacement. In the meantime, Carlos showed me a workaround to keep the furnace working on a limited basis so we could weather the snow. John worked with us to help select the right furnace to replace our old one at a really reasonable price, and Carlos was back to do the replacement the next day. Everything went really smoothly and we now have a brand new, super-efficient furnace. Carlos was friendly and easy to work with. He was respectful of our home, putting down drop clothes in the work space and along the path that he brought the furnace box through, and when he was done he took the time to show me the installation and explain how everything works, etc. I was really happy with the service and quality of work from Mr. Cool and will definitely be calling them next year do yearly maintenance! read more

Mr. Cool has always done a good job with our swamp cooler start up and winterization, but this most recent experience was odd. Per usual this time of year, I called to schedule our winterization. When I did, I explained that I had purchased some new swamp cooler pads and asked that they install them while they are up on the roof doing the winterization. The person on the phone said that would be fine. When the guys arrived to do the work, they said I shouldn't put the pads in now because it would be better to do it when they came back in the spring to start up the cooler. They did the winterization in about 10 minutes, and when they came back down to settle up, they told me (1) the price went up 25% (from $75 to $100); and (2) my roof is too dangerous and they won't come back anymore. Needless to say, it would've been nice to know about the 25% price increase before they completed the work (preferably, at the time I scheduled it), and it's odd that they've never said anything about my roof being too dangerous when (the same guys) have been here twice a year in recent years. And, they talked me out of putting the new pads now in based upon the representation that they'd do it in the spring when they came back. I get that inflation is a thing and safety is important, but the communication here was not good. So, it's probably best that I'll need to find someone new going forward. Adios, Mr. Cool. read more

The Best! We had a problem with another company, Dr Fixit, not showing up and then scheduling us so far out it wasn't worth while. Mr Cool (Carlos) gave us information on Yelp with in 15 minutes, tried to schedule us for the next day, gave us the best price and showed up promptly! Don't call these folks unless you want to get scammed out of lots of money. The technician who came to clean and service my furnace called and said he could not complete the work because the furnace was leaking carbon monoxide and needed to be replaced. He also sent a quote for $2200 for them to do the job. I paid him $75 for coming out and called another company to come check out my furnace. Turns out there is nothing wrong with it and it is not leaking carbon monoxide. I called to complain and ask for a refund and have not heard back. Now I see there is another review citing pretty much the same thing. My bad for not reading that before I called! Very disappointing that they tried to deceive us, and boy am I glad I got a second opinion. UPDATE: They have refunded my $75 and notified me by text message. read more

I lost heat in my house when it was freezing outside and Carlos and his Dad were the first ones to respond to my call for help. Since the furnace stopped working during the weekend, they weren't able to check out what was going on until Monday. Once they were here, Carlos noticed right away that my water heater tank was rusty and leaking. I'm a single mom and had he not catch what was going on, I would've had an even bigger damage if that tank had exploded and flooded my basement. Since I now had to replace the water heater tank, they were on top of it and came by the next day to change it. I didn't have the funds to replace the tank and fix the furnace - which was the main reason I needed them, so Carlos was extremely awesome and hard wired the furnace so my daughter and I didn't freeze until they were able to come back again to replace the furnace. Yesterday, Carlos and his team came back and he had already explained everything that needed to get fixed, it wasn't cheap but totally worth it. I now have a new water heater tank and furnace and I know I can count on these guys for any HVAC concerns. I wanted to get my AC and AC lines serviced and inspected since I've never had it looked at for the four years I've lived at my house. I asked for servicing quotes from several companies based on Yelp reviews and John seemed to stick out as a nice guy with a reasonable price. When he attached is measuring equipment to my AC unit he said it needed to have some refrigerant added which seemed reasonable to me for not being serviced in a while. He checked the AC lines and recommended I replace the insulation. Other than that he said it looks like it's in great condition and should last many years provided I continue to get it serviced. The reason I'm taking a star away is because he was 30 minutes late. It's really wasn't a big deal to me, but I'm pretty critical with my Yelp reviews. Would not recommend using these guys to anyone. Late July I had Carlos come out to provide an inspection to install central AC into my home. He is fantastic and super knowledgeable so this review is not reflective of him in any way. I waited a week to receive an emailed quote, then I contact John H.. He didn't have knowledge that I had already met with Carlos and paid the $75 inspection fee. Nonetheless, he said he'd send me the quote that day. It's been 3 months and I never received a quote, at this point, even if I did I wouldn't go with them based on this experience. I sure as hell would like the $75 I wasted refunded though. read more

We had an emergency where we had just moved into our new house and our furnace was struggling to keep heat in the middle of winter. Had to turn it off since the heat exchanger died. We were already frustrated because another company came out earlier in the week to"fix" our furnace but when we tried to contact them again because it was still failing we didn't get a response. Not only that, it happened on a Friday meaning a lot of options would not call me back until Monday and an install would not occur until later. I called pretty much the top 10 HVAC companies on Yelp and got quotes in person and virtually. Mr. Cool and company were one of the few companies that were available to come out and do a quote on a Saturday. So Mr. Cool and company's availability was great! Carlos came to conduct the quote and was very informative and answered all of the questions I had and more. He shared different options to upgrade all the way to basic model and offered a great price for a furnace, AC, and water heater combo. I'm pretty indecisive when it comes to home expenses because I'm always skeptical on if I'm getting a good deal or not. After getting quotes from multiple other companies Mr. Cool's prices were unbeatable. I was worried it was too good to be true and there must be a catch, but took the risk and I'm pretty happy with the job they did! They were Covid conscious, they came on Monday (presidents weekend) and worked allll day to finish the job, they also sent a senior member to double check the next day. They were very thorough, detailed, and I would recommend them. I would say the only thing was that the job started a little late, but Carlos was very communicative and gave me updates along the way. We ended up getting a rheem 50gal high efficiency water tank, a Goodman 120k BTU two stage furnace and a Goodman 13 seer AC unit. Thanks Mr. Cool! 4 stars because competitively with other companies, they didn't have as many warranties. They have 1 year workmanship warranty and 10 years parts warranty. I hired MrCool to do fix a thermostat, because my Ac was not working properly, he said it needed to change and told me the price for a programmable Thermostat that was $175 + service another 200 dollars. When he came to change it. He said that the fix temperature was better. But charged me the same price. When I went to check online this kind of thermostat costs $40 only. I messaged and I had so answer. I just bought this house. And even after the thermostat was changed my AC WAS NOT WORKING. , he said that there must have another furnace. But he did not have time to check. The senior man from the business came to have a look. And said the mother board of my furnace needed to change for another $750 . I asked another company to come and see the problem. Just to find out. That there was another furnace. And the only problem was that the filter was so dirty that was freezing the whole system and it stopped working. All I had to pay was $22 . Just to say that actually the board that they told me that needed to change belonged to a different system. And if I had changed it it would have been a waste of time and money. And I would still be having a problem. Maybe I was not lucky when I hired Mr Cool. But for the 2 experiences I had I don't I don't recommend this service. read more

I learned about Mr. Cool via Facebook when I had an emergency to get my furnace fixed. A friend immediately sent me his information and Mr. Cool contacted me within minutes. He then made his way to my home by late morning, fixed my furnace within 15 minutes and gave me a bill that I couldn't believe! It was only $60. He was so honest in his dealings with me that the only issue I had with the furnace was that it needed to be CLEANED which it hadn't been in 11 years since I bought the house. I never write online reviews, but after my experience with this company I feel like I must. Mr. Cool replaced the circuit board in my furnace November 2014. In July 2015, the fan was running continuously, and I called the company again to take a look. He said that the circuit board needed to be replaced for about $500. I told him it was just replaced less than 8 months ago, and he said that it would be under warranty. When I told him that he was the one who replaced it, he then backtracked and said that actually the warranty wouldn't apply because there was water damage to the board. I had a new repairman come out today, and there was no water damage and the circuit board did not need to be replaced. He was able to complete the minor repair for $60. Also, the new repairman showed me how the Mr. Cool repairman had moved all the wires into the wrong location so that he could make it look like he "fixed" the problem when he put in a new circuit board and moved the wires back. I probably didn't even need the circuit board replaced the first time in November. Stay away!!! These guys only want to rip you off. read more

They kept cancelling 1 appointment after another during a week where every day is 90 degrees. I know they're busy but I was on the schedule starting on Monday. I am currently living in OKC but have a tenet in my downtown Denver condo. The condo HOA has a maintenance company responsible for everything "outside the walls of the individual units". Well, the rooftop compressor went out, and we got a quote from the maintenance company for a $2500 compressor fix, or $3000 for the whole unit to be replaced. After a few days, I received word that they wouldn't do the job since it's the responsibility of the unit holder, and at that point, the job becomes residential and their insurance was only for commercial work. So with good Yelp reviews, I called up Mr. Cool. After a week and a half of the maintenance company dragging their feet before saying they couldn't do it, I wanted to make sure the job was done quickly, yet right. Calling around 11am, John H from Mr. Cool was able to come out in the afternoon. He diagnosed the compressor again and also recommended the whole unit to be replaced, but at the much cheaper $2000 price. Not only that, but the job could be done that day! Sure enough, the job was done well. Credit card was taken via Square for the payment, and a new Goodman AC unit was cooling the unit, right before some hot weather hit Denver. My tenant also said that John H was super professional. He also made sure and scanned and sent to me all the relevant information for tax information and product registration to get the 10 year parts warranty in addition to the Mr. Cool 1 year labor warranty. read more

Based on another recommendation/review site, I had called a large "fruit" plumbing/HVAC/electrical company to have them come out and get me running again. I was provided with a quote for $2000 to replace a condenser fan and clean, and they wouldn't even be able to repair it until at least Tuesday. Knowing that an entire coil/condenser package was only $2000 I sent them home and called Mr Cool late on a Friday afternoon. John was kind enough to fit me in on a Saturday, and the tech showed up within an hour of the scheduled time. The service was prompt, professional and fairly priced. My Cool replaced my broken condenser fan, replaced a leaky capacitor, and cleaned and charged my system for $500.
