If you are looking for a casual atmosphere, great drinks, reasonable prices, and awsome crazy bartenders.....then check out Mr.Ds. Sunday thru Thursday you can sing Karaoke. That starts around 8pm -1am and if dancing is your cup of tea, you will want to stop in Friday or Saturday night. "Latin Spirits" performs live from 9pm -1:30am. So no matter your poison....we here at Mr.D's are looking forward to seeing you soon.

Mr.D's has more of an older crowd going there, And they are mostly Latino. You won't see any young tough guys looking to pick fights here.

So, my first visit was a cool experience with a few laid back people watching the game. After I left, I decided I would come back again to watch a game sometime. Currently, I visited this place again a few Thursday's ago(I think it was Thanksgiving, lol) to pregame it before I headed to Diamond Jim's. Why? Because Diamond Jim's only accepts cash only and the CV Sports Bar is just a few blocks down and they do take cards. A $10 dollar minimum is not bad at all because I've been to other places where you have to have a $20 minimum. I ordered a pitcher of Fat Tire for $12, which I didn't mind paying at all because its a well reasonable price for the size of their pitcher. The two guy bartenders were OK. They just seamed they didn't give a shit about their customers. I don't expect them to go beyond customer service expectation but show some character and be more helpful, especially if its a small bar with less than twenty people. Surprisingly, there was quit a few good looking girls but most of them had company already. But, its nice to know there's pretty girls that go there, Right? No guy wants a sausage fest. It's a chill bar to pre-game it or go with a few friends and watch a game. Reading these reviews below mine, I will have to watch my next UFC match at CV Sports Bar to see if its cool.

For me, this is the default spot to watch UFC fights when I don't want to go downtown. In this capacity this place is awesome. There are 4 HD falt screens in the place as well as 2-3 more regular TV's. All those TV's in a really small place means you will always have a spot with a good view of the action. Not a big selection of beers but what they do have is cheap. Service is somewhat lacking but I think its because they aren't used to the big crowds when a fight/event is going on. While food isn't on the menu, they do have a crock pot with melted cheese and chips to make nachos. They have the usual condiments (jalapeno's, onions) and sometimes chili. There is also a popcorn machine that they charge for (they don't charge for the nachos though???). There is a pool table that looks serviceable and a jukebox (they don't allow it during fights). They also have a stereo system that they can turn on if they want. Parking can be a hassle, as there is a really small lot behind the place. If you get there late you may have to park across the street. Credit Cards are accepted but have a $10 minimum in place.

Before we even sat down, I asked the hostess to ask the chef about the buns for the burgers. I cannot eat egg and REALLY wanted a burger with a bun. They weren't too busy so she went and asked. Their buns do contain egg but they said they could use sourdough bread for my burger. YAY! :) (yes, I can order a burger wrapped in lettuce but a burger needs a bun so that all of the flavors soak into the bun. It is all a part of the experience) We have been on the hunt for the perfect burger in San Diego (refer to above paragraph, that burger *must* include a bun sans-egg) and we *FINALLY FOUND IT*!!!! We both ordered the Wagyu Beef Burger - medium rare. Mine without onion rings or aioli and sub sourdough bread for their bun. It was everything I wanted it to be and more. First, I love that they asked how we wanted it cooked. Just like the bun, a properly cooked burger is definitely part of the experience. It was juicy and flavorful. It was SOOOO good that I didn't even put condiments on it. Their fries were crispy and tasty, also very good. I am sad to report that I couldn't finish my burger (or my fries). I don't know why we didn't decide to split a burger instead. I think that we were so excited that I could get a burger with a bun that we forgot that my appetite is that of a bird. They have oodles of TVs - just like a sports restaurant should. We were there for the World Cup and NASCAR Race the Base weekend, so got to watch both on giant screens. Our waitress was Felicia. She was very nice and patient with me when I gave her my 'special' burger order, when I apologized she even waved me off and told me that mine isn't the worst order she's ever had (it's comforting to hear even if it wasn't true). My only complaint is the noise level, it wasn't even busy and it was too loud. I cannot imagine how terrible it would be when they're busy. I hate to sound like an older person here, but why don't restaurants plan on noise level? It's not like it's a new concept. Sound dampeners got a long way into helping make the experience more enjoyable. I'm not 'just' there to watch sports, I want to have a conversation with the people at my table. Transportation/Parking Parking - They do offer valet parking and have a parking garage (I believe that both are for a fee, and any validation they do at dinner is not for the entire amount). I believe there was free on-street parking and there's a gravel lot in between the Gaylord & the marina that people were parking in. Trolley - About a 20 minute walk from the Blue Line trolley. It's a straight shot down H Street, and I believe it's sidewalked the entire way. Ferry - There is a ferry from the SD Convention Center to the marina beside the Gaylord. It's $15 one way. At the time, there is no sidewalk connecting the marina to the hotel. It is a short walk and not too busy with traffic. We'll definitely be back! I always feel like I need to apologize for not taking photos, my personal opinion on pictures of food is that they really need to be done by professionals. But, thank you for reading my review!

We had the Parmesan garlic wings (hot, crispy outside, juicy inside, and decent size) and the Angus burger (cooked medium well, nice char on the outside, moist and slightly pink inside...the burger is a bit messy with the toppings but overall it was a great combo of flavors). Fun vibe for sure, I would happily go again. I deducted one star because as a new guest, I asked the bartender if they had any special house cocktails. She seemed to hear the word special and thought I meant cheap. I said not necessarily cheap, but do you have any interesting house cocktails here. She said no, so I ordered something boring. I mean, people totally still watch sports here of course and so do I, but what I mean is the space is bright and expansive, the location is lovely, and the monitors are ginormous. More importantly, the food and drinks are at least somewhat interesting. Not even sure if I've had hard kombucha before. I probably have, but I don't remember. These are largely light, sour, and fruity, which are the sort of alcohol I've been addicted to lately anyways. And they have cool fruits like dragonfruit and lychee. The bowls and fruit salad were what originally caught my eye. I was not feeling a berry salad, so I got a carne asada bowl, and it was delicious. The steak was soft and peppery, and the ratio of ingredients was well balanced. The hummus, kale, and salsas made for a fun Mediterranean flavor, and the basmati rice was fluffy and consistent. It's sad, but it's hard to find an Asian restaurant in town that makes a rice bowl this good.

And they weren't rushed or slammed, nobody was ordering, they just didn't come out to us or even look at us, bring us waters, nothing. And by the way, their menu is disgustingly overpriced. $25 cocktails (very basic) Average cost for a GLASS OF WINE.. $30-$55 per POUR. for a mid af $100 bottle of wine lol. 55 dollars per glass of wine and we could not get an acknowledgment whatsoever. We ended up getting up and leaving and as we were walking out the bartender ran over (super quick btw, so he does have legs) and said hey where are you guys going, and we said we're leaving and he said "I was gonna come over right now" It was so cringe like he was chasing a tip from us since we had a medium size party. Not worth the hype, not worth the reviews, the influencers who post about this place probably worked something out with the management or hotel because this place is a total miss.
