We have been using them for years. I love that they will tell you if they recommend you fix your appliance or buy a new one. They really put you first. They are not all about getting the money. We had a stove they said they could fix, but this issue we were seeing was a common issue for the model. If they fixed it, the issue will likely be back again in a few years. They recommended we get a new one even though it meant a lot less money for them. Since that, I have recommended them without reservation to many people. 2018- especially the latter part of the year- was a tough one for a couple of the properties I manage in San Diego. I needed Jeff early in the year for some routine repairs which went as expected. But in December, Mother Nature decided to attack with a vengeance. Multiple inches of rain over the course of two days impacted both properties I manage. Jeff not only fixed the leak in the roof at one house, but while he was on that roof, he noticed several vulnerable spots on the roof, so he got the parts and pre-emptively fixed the roof the next day. Not only that, I drove by the house and saw him on the roof during a deluge, working away. Mind blown. During that same rain, my dad's house in Oceanside was also impacted. The back yard filled up with water, eventually it was a foot deep. A few dozen gallons of water went into the game room, which led to an emergency situation that Jeff was called in to address. It turned out that the water damage was so much worse than originally observed. The entire room had mold damage behind the paneled walls that had originally been installed in the 1970s. It was a dire situation, as the house is a furnished rental and guests/tenants expect to be able to use the entirety of the house. Fortunately, Jeff addressed the situation in a proactive and professional way, and got the entire room torn down to the studs and then rebuilt & painted in six days, while at the same time doing mitigation work on the roof and yard to make sure the problem didn't happen again. I've worked with a ton of handymen over the course of the last 30 years or so. Most of them have issues with scheduling- sometimes a job just runs longer than you expect. If you're the customer Jeff is working for, he's not leaving the job partially done so he can go start another one. That's how I'd want my handyman/contractor to handle a problem situation. In my experience, Jeff shows up on time, or calls to update and reschedule if necessary. He can be trusted with entry codes to houses, and will do a professional job. read more

Coincidentally, I ran into the Mr. Fix It reviews on my Yelp account. I noticed some of the very poor reviews among the stellar ones. I noticed that they primarily deal with promptness and scheduling. Jeff and his crew have done plumbing, electrical, construction, painting, etc.. for me for years. I have always been happy with the work and Jeff's desire to keep me a satisfied customer. People need to understand the scope of work a handyman service deals with. I set high standards for the professionals who work for me as my reviews will attest. But, I would completely understand minor delays considering the major coordination required to schedule the various trade professionals needed. Very disappointing.. Came to the house an hour and a half after we scheduled an appointment. Still though I would give him a try and we agreed to start the job in a few days. His partner came and fixed and appliance and it worked fine. Another star added--we are at 3 stars now--let's keep this up, Mr. Fix it!!! His partner didn't give the person who let him in the receipt. He didn't leave a receipt! Uh oh--deduct half a star. Texted Mr. Fix It multiple times to email me the receipt. This is the first time I've written a Yelp review, and I really wish it was under better circumstances. It's not the work itself that gets the negative review in this case, but the overall unprofessional manner and general flakiness that wasted my time... over and over again. My landlord chose this repair service, and so I really did not have much of a say in the matter, but I think I would rather pay out of pocket for future repairs than deal with this hassle. At least 3 times did this repair service simply not show up on an agreed-upon time. Not even a cancellation call. I had to call him, and ask when he would be coming, only to learn that "something came up" and that he wouldn't be coming at all. And did I mention this happened on TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS about one year apart (I asked my landlord after the first episode to choose another repair service, and will down right demand another one be used for any future repairs). I understand that contract work is unpredictable, but to not even offer the courtesy of following up with your appointments, knowing that I have a busy schedule too, is unbelievable. As for the work, the project was easy and took about 30 minutes, so I don't know if he did anything special. I do know it took 5 days and at least 3 missed appointments to get this last project done however. Just simply not worth it, unless you have the time to waste. read more

Well I called and he picked up right away so I thought OK. Well I described my needs and hew said he was on a job but had Friday morning available. We agreed he would text me back with the time he would arrive. Well, I never heard from him again. So, I will be looking for another handyman to take care of my needs. Had Jeff from Mr Fix it work on my roof 2 yrs ago. It leaked the first rain. He charged me another $1800 to have some "roofer" come out and apply some treatment "that would extend my roof another 5 yrs". It leaked the first rain this year in the exact same spot. The$1800 treatment bubbled up and peeled off, blowing off into the yard in sheets. I have called both him and the roofer who have stood me up multiple times. When I ask about the "warranty" I am told that he "is not in the position to refund my money right now" and is now ignoring my calls, emails and texts. Great... my roof is a huge mess now and Im out thousands at this point. Totally unprofessional and deceitful. Thinking I might have to go to small claims court or just suck it up. BEWARE!! read more

About a year ago, I needed some minor repairs done on my house and called this guy - similar to others, this guy is a flake - just unprofessional, says he will show up, comes up with an excuse to be delayed, and then again, and again.... until you just give up and find someone else. I would let his Yelp reviews speak for themselves and move on from this guy. read more
