Great family place. Good prices and good food. We had the mufalatta, chicken Alfredo and the kids spaghetti.

    They "look" awesome.

This was the first time here since there menu change.. And LAST! I ordered the 12 piece wings and fries. After 1 fry, asked for some fresh hot fries... The wings were even worse, and they had that twang of old under cooked chicken, the first time I EVER left wings on a plate. Our company had chicken with white sauce, there was a black hair in the white sauce..disgusting! I only gave it 1 star because my son liked his spaghetti..hmm?

Do not know how to take an order correctly

I'd give this place 0 stars if I could, we'll tonight I decided to order Mr G's over the phone. Ordered a Philly cheese steak add chicken, with fries. I then get to Mr G's pick up my order, the receipt says add chicken so I figured my order was correct. I get home about 15 minutes away. Open my food and take a bite, and there's no chicken. So I call in and an older lady picks up. She works at the front counter, most likely a server. She answers and tells me to bring back my food so they can add chicken to my sub. I tell her no, she then continues to argue with me saying they won't make another sandwich, I have to bring mine back. Then finally says okay I will make it, after me saying this will be the last time I eat here. I get there they say they didn't charge me for my chicken so they make me pay the up charge. I did then another woman brings me a bag of chicken and say here you go. The young lady most likely the owners daughter was sitting behind in the kitchen laughing peaking through the window. I must say being familiar with the restaurant business myself this is no way a restaurant should operate. But hey you can't fix ignorance. I do not recommend this place at all. They're food is very dry and they don't have any kind of manners behind the counter. I think the young lady should be fired and also the older lady should be fired as well. Her being a little older, you'd think she would of handled the situation a little better. Best part is they admitted it was there fault, and still proceeded to give me a bag of chicken, rather than remaking my chicken Philly cheese steak. This is why you work at a restaurant, should of stayed in school. The best part is the little ginger buss boy, behind the counter was trying to fight me, because the owners daughter started to cry. Because I told her she was to young to be a manager. Started to lean over the counter as if he was gonna hit mebut did not want to step outside, proceeded to yell in the restaurant. I must say what a great family that is over there. You guys will not last long with that kind of staff

The food is ok. The service is not bad. Drinks don't have refills. It is a place to eat, but nothing to write home about.

After seeing a bad health score at a nearby restaurant and another being closed for a private event…read moreon date night, we decided on Depalma's. Before we even got within 2 blocks we could smell a garlicky bread scent which thrilled us as we were carrying a pretty intense appetite at this point . When we got in, the place had an authentic Italian feel to it, but Americanized for sure. It had a charm that ensured me the food was gonna be valid -- and that it was. We sat down after about a 15 minute wait in a packed house. Our server was fantastic from start to finish and was very knowledgeable about whatever we inquired about. 10/10. We first had wine -- forgot what we had, sorry maybe it really did its job. I had a red wine and fiancé had a white. Both wines were very good. Fiancé ordered the Baked Feta antipasti. She enjoyed it. It came with garlic bread that was as crisp as it was tender. 8/10. Then we got our Caesar salad. A different twist indeed as the dressing was more vinaigrette than the dressing we're accustomed to. Still very good and it grew on us each bite 9/10. Our dinner came out about 15-20 minutes later (we were distracted by the company that the wines brought us) but it was very well worth it. I had a feeling that it was gonna be good just by how long it took. Fiancé had the pizza with pep, spinach and feta topping with cheese. We don't consume pork much, especially her, so if she enjoyed it, it had to have been really good. It was as fresh and crisp as ever. I had the build your own pasta with angel hair, Alfredo, Asiago, herb baked chicken, and salmon. Top 5 best tasting pasta dishes I've ever had -- and I've been to Italy. We attempted to get the white chocolate bread pudding but it unfortunately had sold out . Regardless, we'll have another opportunity at it because we will be back at this fantastic establishment. 5/5!

For us Bama fans, the afternoon turned out far better than what the football team put on the field a few days earlier. The basketball team showed up ready to play and made up for that New Year's Day disappointment. But let's be honest--we were really here for Italian food, and DePalma's was happy to oblige. It had been over a year since we last stepped inside this establishment, not because of any past experiences, but simply because this place stays busy. On a typical weekend, folks are packed in here like cordwood, and the sidewalk outside looks like someone kicked over an ant farm. That said, there's a reason for the crowd--DePalma's consistently delivers good Italian eats. The old building still carries plenty of character, with wine bottles lining the walls and the nostalgic bar where an old pharmacy once served Coke and a smile. These days, instead of sodas and prescriptions, they're rolling dough and making pasta behind that same bar, and I'd say that's a pretty solid upgrade. We started with the stuffed mushrooms, which were outstanding. When we finished, the plate was so clean you could've put it back in the cabinet--only a few grains of salt remained as evidence they were ever there. For my meal, I ordered the pine nut-crusted salmon along with a Caesar salad. It was my first time having their salmon, and it definitely won't be my last. The dish was excellent--well-prepared, flavorful, and proof that stepping outside your usual order at DePalma's can pay off. I've eaten here many times over the years and can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. Great food, great service, and great company--even the Kentucky fans who made the trip down to watch their beloved Cats get smacked around on the hardwood. All in all, DePalma's remains a Tuscaloosa staple for a reason. Crowded? Usually. Worth it? Absolutely.

Ambiance was overall good. There is a nice waiting area outside which leads into a long hallway where the tables are. The space is used well but could be much improved. There is also a bar which separates the seating area from the bathroom/ back. The food is overall not bad. The mozzarella stick appetizer was good, cheesy and fried well. The marinara sauce was okay. The chicken Parmesan was good. The chicken was cooked well and the Parmesan was a good addition. The spaghetti did not add much to the dish. It felt like store bought spaghetti. Food ratings: 1) mozzarella app: overall 3/5, solid for what it was but nothing impressive 2) chicken Parmesan: overall 2.5/5, solid chicken but other additions didn't really bring much

$28 Pasta... With the Wrong Noodles…read more I had been looking forward to trying Sugo for a while, so this visit was pretty disappointing. I ordered the Pasta Carnivora, which the menu clearly lists as coming with spaghetti. What arrived at the table was fettuccine instead. That might seem like a small change, but pasta shape actually matters. Different noodles hold sauce differently, and swapping spaghetti for fettuccine completely changed the balance of the dish. The thicker noodles made the plate feel heavy and didn't complement the meat sauce well at all. The bigger issue was that no one mentioned the substitution. If the restaurant was out of spaghetti, that's understandable, but customers should be told and given the option to order something else. I absolutely would have chosen a different dish had I known ahead of time. For $28, I expected a lot more attention to detail. When a menu describes a dish a certain way, especially at that price point for just sauce and noodles, it should either be served that way or the change should be communicated. Maybe this was just an off night, but if the dish had been served as described on the menu, the experience probably would have been very different. Unfortunately, this visit ended up feeling like a waste of money.

With a 20 mile hike ahead of me tomorrow, I figured loading up on carbs was not just justified, it was necessary. We have been here several times, and it truly never disappoints. Tonight was no exception. I did what I tend to do and over ordered. I went with a kids portion of spaghetti and meatballs along with my usual grilled salmon, and both were excellent. The portions were generous enough that I ended up taking about two thirds of the salmon home, which will make for a perfect Sunday lunch. My wife ordered the lasagna. While it was a bit on the soupy side, the flavor more than made up for it. It was still very enjoyable overall. The complimentary bread remains a highlight as always and is perfect for soaking up every last bit on the plate. Service was fast, friendly, and efficient, and the total bill came in under 50 dollars. In today's world, with gas pushing 4 dollars a gallon, that is hard to beat. We are leaving once again completely satisfied. Great food, a relaxed and quiet atmosphere, and none of the chaos from downtown. We could only call an hour ahead. Again, weird. We get to the restaurant, and to help them put, we have each family's food and drink choices already written out. We had two servers that day, and they were working very hard to attend to everyone. Even with written out orders, for some reason it took a long while for folks to get their food. It took so long that some people had finished eating and others were still waiting for their food. Eventually, everyone got their food. There were a few mixed up orders and that needed to be fixed. The real issue came when it was time to issue the checks so we could pay and leave. We had been there for three hours already and none of this should have taken this long. Again, I remind you that we had preselected entrees on printed papers for each family. Because we were a large party we wanted to make things easier for the wait staff. I guess they were having system errors or something and I consoled the female waiter at the register. She was near tears as she was trying to work things out. As large as our party was, everyone was incredibly patient and kind throughout this process. Some people eneve ended up having to pay because they couldn't get their system to work and the manager was trying to get us to stay, but we were on a bus tour and had already been at the restaurant for four hours. She said we should have called in advance to make a reservation. We told her about the call 2 weeks before and a week before and the persons (we gave the names at that time) both said they did not take reservations. What were we to do? We left frustrated and concerned that due to this restaurant's ineptness we had to leave without getting to pay or bill and we missed multiple stops in the rest of our tour due to the very long delays at this restaurant l

A Cozy New Spot for Italian in Tuscaloosa…read more Tony's Italian Grill is a new, family-owned restaurant in Tuscaloosa with comforting dishes and bold flavors. The space used to be a fast-food spot, but they're doing a great job remodeling it into a welcoming dining space. I've visited a couple of times now. The calamari is crisp and flavorful, especially with the fresh lemon and chunky marinara. The shrimp and lobster ravioli is rich and satisfying, with plenty of seafood. Most recently, I tried the Shrimp Cremara, a spaghetti-style dish with a spicy marinara twist--really bold and delicious. The service has definitely improved--they've brought on some new employees who were very attentive and welcoming. They offered dessert (which I passed on this time), but I've had the tiramisu before and it was light, creamy, and worth it. The ambiance is still coming together, but the background music is a nice touch. Portion sizes are generous and pricing is fair. A solid pick for casual Italian in town--I'm excited to see how they keep growing!
