An absolute must try in Yuma! It's been about 4 years since I had visited Mr. G's so I decided to drop in recently while on the way to California. It is just as delicious as I remember! The bean and cheese cheese burrito is a classic and always an excellent choice but they have no shortage of menu options for you to choose from. If you're looking for a huge San Diego breakfast burrito this ain't the spot. BUT the burrito was sooo good! Quality ingredients that you can taste and I was able to add customize it with other ingredients from other menu items. I got just a classic egg, potato, and bacon but i added cheese and green chilies and it was delicious! The green chilies added something a little different than what I normally get and they didn't overstuff the thing with potatoes. It was about the size of my palm, so maybe 6 inches. But again, quality ingredients made this burrito a Rockstar. Im a sucker for a good green sauce and they most definitely had an epic green sauce! Based on the long line at the drive-thru and the number of cars that in the parking lot for those willing to (put on a face mask and) walk in to order or to pick up whatever was ordered ahead by phone, this seems like the most popular morning place to eat in Yuma! Is it because they offer free coffee with your order? Or is it because of the menu options, meal cost, or food taste? I'm not sure - but I was satisfied with all of the above. Other than seafood (which is silly to expect so far away from an ocean), they offer most of what you probably expect from a Mexican restaurant in the U.S. - plus a slightly less typical vegetarian option (for Americans): squash burritos (with corn and beans). Too bad the inside dining area is closed (due to government "COVID-19 requirements"). No public restroom was visible - so I'm not sure if they even have one, let alone now "allow" usage. read more

I've never lived in Yuma but starting as a toddler my family went to the sand dunes and we always stopped here. Over the years every single road trip I've taken back and forth between Cali and Az has had a Mr Gs stop (if they were open) Homemade tacquitos are so freaking good. They serve them with very runny salsa which normally I'm not a fan of but it's perfect for this dish. Recently came to Yuma to visit some family. They hyped up Mr. G's to me and it did not disappoint. It is def worth a stop if you are in the area, and especially if you are looking for some new tastes to your Mexican food palate. Restaurant: We came kind of later on in the day so there was not a line, but I have heard of the long lines that can form here. The restaurant is very modern and updated. My Dad used to come to the Mr. G's and even the restaurant that was there before Mr. G's and has always been a big fan. There is ample seating, a large soda fountain and enough parking imo. Food: I ordered a Machaca and Beans burrito, the wife had a Carne Asada Burrito and we split an order of taquitos. The Machaca was awesome, super tender and had some nice flavors to it. The beans were also good, tasted like home cooked beans wrapped in a nice flour tortilla. If you are super hungry I'd order two burritos as they are not super big, but one hits the spot! The Carne Asada was also very flavorful. It had a nice marinade to it and was far from being dry. Also worth giving it a shot! The Taquitos. Now, I have had who knows how many taquitos in my life. These were both different, and delicious. The tortillas that were used tasted different than the ones that I used to and it was a nice a flavor change. They are served with a super water salsa that was just perfect for them. Notes: If I am ever back in the area I will probably stop by for sure. Stopped by first time and it was busy. I had their famous bean burrito and beans were awesome but I didn't like the double wrap of the tortilla. Every bite had a thick layer of tortilla. Their rolled tacos were so good and only $0.89. The only reason I have them a 3 star is because the salsa was not good. It was very watery and the chunky one was too thick and not too much flavor. This's a mexican restaurant on a border town.. you'll think they would have good Mexican food, but my enchiladas were really really bad super salty and it was nothing mexican about them lol. our first time eating here had to make we asked for a California burrito, which they did not know what it was. so instead, we ordered a California burrito of which we specified no pico on either burrito even though they didn't know what a California burrito was we went back just after closing time to be greeted by a rude employee who said we're closed as she walked past us and gotten her Camaro and sped off then a manager came out after we knock on the back door And she grabbed our receipt went inside and said that if no one else inside remembered us saying no pico, then they were gonna replace our order. My daughter has a very light gag reflex so when she gets anything crunchy in her food, she will starts with gag and she will not be able to eat it. Pretty inconsiderate seeing how this was our first time trying this restaurant we won't be returning. management customer service sucks shitty experience. I mean all it was just the burritos not that big of a deal seem to hell I'm sure they sell a lot because it's considered to be the best. In the past, we'd hit this place up at night right after the Kid's Christmas recital across the street, and yes it was usually busy but whatever. The long lines I never liked, but understood because the food was great. Not when it was busy though, at least for me. Anyway, we got there and I ordered a "G" Grande Bacon Burrito with a large drink for my wife. $2.00 for a large drink? Um ok...the burrito was good but to me nothing to sing about. Light, fluffy...I was wanting some chicken or beef but didn't see it on the menu. The bacon in the burrito had to do. Total was $8.26 for the burrito and drink... No WIFI or military discount...not sure about the bathrooms. This place is a staple in Yuma. Family owned (I think); old-timey pictures of Yuma on the walls...decent dining area. Drive thru service. Mr. G's is an acquired taste...I dig it, but I won't lose any sleep if it went away. Maybe I haven't tried to right meals there, yet, not sure. We were recommended this place by the chevron station, SideWinder. We ordered online. Everything looked fine on line. We both got the carnitas (pork). It said it was shredded but it came in dry squares. It was so dry...with zero taste. It wasn't moist, juicy or even soft...it was dryer then expired beef jerky. The salsa was thin like water...with very little taste. I was excited to finally have Mexican food near the border, in Yuma. I'd heard amazing thing about Yuma Mexican food and when I drove down from Colorado...let's just say it was as dry as the desert. So yeah, maybe add some flavor...and moisture. Also, there was so much gristle/fat most of it chewy yet dry (weird combo) and not a quality product. Needless to say, we're gonna try a different place before we leave. Both were dry and un-flavorful and when I tried to add some life to the meal with their salsa, I only became more let down by the watery tomato sauce they called salsa. I ordered a carne asada burrito with enchilada sauce at Mr. G's recently. The first bite was a gross, hard bite of beef gristle as were several bites after the first bite. Don't they try their food?? I ended up throwing it out because the burrito was full of gaggingly inferior quality beef. There is little enough beef in Mr. G's carne asada burrito. Having huge chunks of gristle made it inedible, and charging $15.01 for it is way over-priced for a burrito containing very poor quality beef. read more

This establishment started as a taco cart many many years ago and now they have 2 locations in Yuma. The other location is called Chili Pepper. This is a Yuma gem! Their bean and cheese burritos are very delicious too. They offer other items on their menu. Anyone driving through Yuma has to stop for a awesome lunch or dinner here. You will not be disappointed. No lie I have been eating at this establishment since I was 12 months old I am now 38. Even though I have moved away from Yuma Arizona I still make sure my relatives bring me this Mr. G's every time they come to visit me. when I lived across the country on the East coast every time I would come visit, I would take back at least 10 burritos Frozen in my luggage to eat because there is nothing else on this planet like this place. The prices are good, atmosphere is comfortable laid-back. Food is made quickly. The ingredients of almost all of their foods are always fresh always homemade, the salsa is the best part I've never experienced a restaurant where the salsa is so crucial to eating this food.the way the food tastes with their salsa is absolutely magical there's no other salsa on this planet that could make the food taste the way it's supposed to without the mr. G's homemade salsa. This salsa is great with everything else that you eat I buy lots of extra pints of the salsa and use them with my other foods.
