Such a unique experience! The owner does everything himself, taking orders, making the food, bussing tables. The food didn't take long but remember it's just 86 yr old owner running everything solo so be patient! Really good Montana dogs with soo many options. I got the Ruben dog, loaded with pastrami and sauerkraut, the sauerkraut was perfect, not too sour and didn't overpower everything else. Hidden gem! This restaurant is amazing!! My boyfriend got the Philly hot dog and I got the Margarita pizza and they were both delicious - he cooks all of his food the authentic Italian way. One of the best pizzas I've ever had - it was amazing! The owner was the absolute sweetest and he does everything (taking orders, cooking, cleaning) all by himself. He is such a kind and genuine person and told us some really awesome stories about the towns history! I recently saw reviews on how this place performed and had expectations of that . Sadly it is not the best how it was said on Google reviews and Yelp reviews. Food was basic . They use sandwich buns for hot dogs which is displeasing due to how massive bun is and can't eat the hot dogs properly . On that regard I can make hot dogs with same taste and texture since it was basic . The old guy (Cook) also microwaved a pot of spaghetti which was insane to see . And yes there were people dining in at this time Service wasn't also the best . The older gentleman was very rude over the phone when we placed our order and had negative tone to my Girlfriend when we order just two hotdogs to try ! The restaurant itself was overly cluttered and hard to walk through while others are eating / dining in. Remind me of someone that's hoarder Overall these reviews are bogus and not true tale of this place . What a find. In Butte MT for an appt we were desperate for lunch and came upon Mr Hot dogs. The reviews were great so in we went. First of all the place is really funky. Small but adequate. They not only serve hot dogs but they also do Italian and you can bring your own wine. We went for the hot dogs. Hubs had the Mexican and I had the Butte. Both served with knife and fork. Just so happen to be driving from Missoula to the Bozeman Int'l airport and was going to pass Butte so we decided we'll eat lunch there. So glad we did because Yelp led me to Mr Hot Dogs! At first it looked like a run down hole in the wall, but nope! It's so super cute inside. Actually the outside is super cute too. It's so tiny so we decided to take it to go and eat in the car. It almost looks like a mini apartment that was converted to a restaurant! The guy who took our order, Buck, must be the owner. He was nice and first took our order than we paid for it. The dog was so large and he filled it with toppings to the brim. I loved the pickles and the taste of the hot dog!! Deeeelish!!! If you were lucky enough to be born and raised here in Butte, you would have possibly known Luigi, the one man band wonder that entertained in the 4th of July parades. I write this review during a trip around Montana in which we experienced signs everywhere of places needing help or asking for patience due to the short staffing. No one willing to work. Yet, Mr. Hot Dog, by himself, cooks up wonderful combinations of Hotdogs or other Italian cuisine in a quaint little corner cafe. A one man operation that requires a little bit of patience as he makes your meal fresh upon ordering. I am impressed by the owner who takes great pride in providing quality meals to his patrons. I watched him feverishly making his way around the kitchen, never missing a beat to cook, take orders, and take payment for satisfied customers. He's an older gentleman I admire for his ability to work hard in a craft he's proud to do. As you can see by the menu board, several pictures posted of it, the average all beef Montana Dog price is about $8. Some a little bit more, but we'll worth the price. You won't leave hungry. Seating is limited, so it can be busy at times. I believe I saw 5 tables of two chairs, and two or three tables for 4 people. read more

If you love hot dogs, this is a MUST DO. Mr Hot Dogs uses a supreme quality hot dog that he gets from a specialty butcher somewhere out towards Livingston MT. These hot dogs are not available in stores! We live several hours away so when our travels take us through/near Butte, we time it so we can take a break and get a dog. It's also strictly a hot dog place only. They have pizzas, pastas and sandwiches. I haven't tried those yet but I think they will be good because it smells really good inside.
