I am a sucker for a good deli and this one came up on Yelp as highly rated. The name threw me off because its kind of gimmicky but the place packs a punch! This is one of those deli's that know what they are doing. I went with the godfather sandwich which had fried eggplant, sweet sopressata and roasted peppers. It was legit! The fried eggplant had a good texture to it and the sandwich worked. I got it with oil and vinegar as well which rounded out the saltiness from the sopressata. My coworker got a chicken cutlet and mozzarella sandwich and he said it was perfect. What more can you ask for?! The guy behind the counter was a character and made the experience fun. He was joking with us and having fun. Great to see people passion about what they do. I will come back to try more of their stuff since I work in the area. This was an online order and it was tasty. Bread was a hearty semolina type, was a bit tough but still good texture. We ordered a Moonlighter(roast beef, onions, cheddar) and a super combo (mortadella, salami and ham with fresh mozz, peppers and lettuce). Delivery was fast and quick and the hero's were large and filling. Very hefty and well priced. Cold cuts were fresh and authentic not cheap or off brand type. PHARMACEUTICAL REPS Beware!- ordered sandwich/wrap platter and the 2 trays of salad for 15ppl. When I got to the office I saw what they brought and not nearly enough food for 15 people, $320 later. A GEM in Yonkers. I can't recall how many times I've wanted to come here, but never made it inside for one reason or another. Recently I forced myself to come inside and finally try this place already. The only regret I have is not ever coming here sooner. I've had breakfast rolls and sandwiches here - both have been excellent. I've taken some of the refrigerated items (garlic bread, pasta) and everything has been very good. They sell Italian bread, bread, oil, cookies, eggs, cheese and the list goes on. Some names I recognize and I know are great quality. Clean inside with tables if you want to eat inside. I wouldn't let looks hold you back from going to this place. The obviously use fresh ingredients and it shows. I generally judge a deli by their ability to make an Italian combo. I know it's not complicated, but in my opinion is the bar that sets a good deli from a bad one. Their Italian combo is fantastic, I can say it's probably the best one I've had in years and easily the best one I've had in yonkers. They have different specialty sandwiches that a few people have already suggested and so far everyone I've had has been great. Mr. Kold Kuts made some phenomenal heros (subs, grinders, etc.). The hot Eggplant Parm and Chicken Parm were chock full of fresh mozzarella. And the bread was perfectly toasted. The cold Italian Special and Mona Lisa were gigantic and chock full of fresh ingredients. The bill for the four was $34.00. Four hungry adults could only finish 6 halves. Pesto greets your mouth first, then you experience the saltiness of the fried eggplant, all topped off by the delicious prosciutto inside. I have been going here since 1978 I would stop in on my way home from from my job at Yonkers Raceway/Casino I'm in woman in my 70's now & can't walk there anymore so now when I get a ride I stop in. For all these years 99% of the time the owner & sons were always there, but only other person was young tall guy cleaning up. Today I'm the only customer around 12:15pm I bought 10 meatballs at $1.25 ea = $12.50, ask for dish of lasagna ask her how much it was she said $10.50, & also got 2 containers of gravy at $4.11 ea = $8.22 said $40.00 so paid this girl. When I got home & put stuff away & I added all items which came to $31.22 then I noticed the half pound of Boar's Head roast beef she sliced & showed me thickness & wrapped it up about $8.50. So I got robbed of my roast beef or robbed of $8.50 in cash (so where is the roast beef or the $8.50 in cash) not good for someone on a fixed income. How incompetent can you be no customers no distraction & I got robbed. On weekends they have a nice woman at the register you bring your items to, but during the week you pay at deli counter which comes to my head so I can't see her put the stuff in the bag which she brought around counter to me after I paid the requested $40.00. Also I asked for a dish of lasagna they usually put it into a round/square container but she put it into small divided container into one divided slot & the other slot was empty didn't see this until I got home & I also paid for an empty half of a container when she weighed it, she then went to put container of meatballs into bag & when she raised container above counter I could see cover coming off I said they usually tape container so cover doesn't come off. Since the pandemic the high counter is roped off with line of chairs which you can't get close to or see behind it. They are in control of your items, an adding machine, not given a receipt. Moral of this is go on weekends when they have a person at the register in front of the store & you get your deli items handed to you to bring to the register. read more
