This small, cozy deli right on Pondfield Rd in Bronxville, NY was a nice find for us. My husband and I were heading to a meeting and since we had some time beforehand, I stopped in to grab us a bagel with cream cheese for him and a buttered, toasted bagel for myself to eat in the car. They offer Boar's Head cold cuts along with a nice selection of prepared foods, including cooked veggies, fish, chicken cutlets and classic tuna and chicken salads. The service is excellent and you won't be standing around wondering if someone will help you. The guys behind the counter are rockin & rollin from beginning to end. Rating's too high for JUST 2 toasted bagels? Maybe. But unlike the dense bagel that felt like a brick I got at a popular diner in the Catskills not far from me the day after Christmas, these at Lange's are light, perfectly toasted and still have that killer chew. read more

Walked in at noon and was next on line. Ordered pastrami on rye with mustard and a small macaroni salad. Done in a few minutes. The pictures that I took doesn't look like the sandwiches in their advertisement for Lang delicatessen. The sandwich was on the thin side, but it was very tasty, and the mustard was put on both sides of the bread. The macaroni salad was OK also. They offer a plethora of options for breakfast and lunch and close about 4. My favorite things to order are a sausage egg and cheese for breakfast and, drum roll please, a "Bat Boy" sandwich for lunch. Great local deli, this place is always packed! Sandwiches are huge portions and they seem to have endless combinations of pastrami, roast beef, ham, cheeses, etc... Not much you can go wrong with here. I usually get a pastrami with swiss toasted on rye. Always hits the spot, could probably save half the sandwich for a second meal. The staff is pretty quick and the service is good. They only accept cash, but theres a bank across the street if you need an atm. They also have salads and some other cold items, but I never tried those. If you are craving a big lunch, i highly recommend devouring one of the sandwiches here, always a good choice! read more

Now THIS is a deli. Or a restaurant, or both. There is limited seating along the outside wall and chest high counters snd displays opposite. In fact the counters are do high, the servers carry your order out to you, a personal hand-off. Most of the customers on the long line which I joined, seemed to know the workers. Tipping seemed to be the norm, so I kept custom. Packed to the rafters, all seats taken, and a 15 minute wait all taken in stride. There is no sandwich known to mankind not offered, no salad yet invented not on display, and every conceivable grill or hot buffet food can also be obtained. You can sit and grab a full diner style breakfast if that's your desire, or load up on take-out. I was in the area and wanted a sandwich for lunch, and to grab some nibbles for the football game. The wings were meaty and tasty, they had my fav Deep River Maui Onion chips in small bags (grabbed 4) and my sandwich = grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers on a fresh roll was delish. we have been patronizing Lange's for many,many years and have never come across this before. we ordered online through their website and were picking up the order ourselves. Gave our credit card info etc. when we got home and scrutinized the bill we were astounded to see a 20% tip automatically added in by default plus a 1.00 fee(?) for what? a 20% tip is reserved for sit down service not for 2 sandwiches thrown in a bag. Whenever I order in person I tip the guy who took care of me a buck or 2. Afterwards, upon further investigation we noticed a way to change or delete the tip. However, these fees should not be there in the first place and we feel taken advantaged of. read more

I had to accompany my brother to drop off some packages nearby and decided to stop in here for a breakfast sandwich/bagel. It looked great on the menu board and wasn't bad, but, the bagel wasn't toasted and was a total chewy dough fest. I also purchased some cole slaw to consume later with my lunch and wasn't thrilled with the different taste. This locale is obviously a neighborhood staple and I'll probably stop in again. THE BEST DELI in Westchester When I'm in Bronxville it's a special treat to visit Lange's. The usual and the specialty sandwiches are to DIE for. The hot food and salad choices are super tasty. Fresh fresh fresh! You know that because the line is out the door. We always get food to go because there are not many tables. The last turkey sandwich I had at Lange's was somewhat disappointing (see pic) because there was not enough turkey -- usually two can share one of these big sandwiches, not this time. Lange's Deli is one of my favorite spots in Bronxville. Located in the heart of downtown, it's always busy. The line, however, moves very quickly. The employees are very friendly and helpful. You can get anything from breakfast items to sandwiches, salads and entrees. They also cater. They have a great breakfast special of eggs, toast and coffee. I love their cranberry chicken salad, roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs and Arnold Palmers. There are different kinds of potato salads too. Eggplant wrap with shredded carrots, alfalfa sprouts and honey mustard is huge and delicious. It's mostly take-out but they do have about 5 tables with 4 or 5 seats per table. Update - wish I could take away a star, seriously they no longer add bean sprouts because they told me they have a short shelf live and not enough people order them so they discontinued that on sandwiches.
