I came here at around 12pm on Saturday and I can appreciate how the inside was so clean and aroma of that bbq let me start off by saying Don had the best service and let me know what they didnt have and did and what I could get instead. I got the beef brisket platter with greens and yams it came with a cornbread muffin, 2 drinks Purple Koolaid ( Grape), sweet tea, bbq chicken pulled sandwich and peach cobbler the minute I got home I said let me try this sandwich and omg I hit the laundry door because thats how good it was. Not only was it savory but it was just right bbq sauce was not spicy it was perfect!!!!! Now let me tell you not everyone knows how to make a peach cobbler and that blew my socks off because I appreciate a good desert felt like my grandmother was in that kitchen cooking. The sweet tea and koolaid wasnt too sweet it was just right. I have had Holy Smoking butts, Kens and other bbq and let me tell you this one right hit the spot and I will be back I spent $39 for all that food and still had leftovers now tell me where are getting that at !!!!

Beef Rib Plate & BBQ Pork Sandwich ⋅ Tucson, Arizona

Uncomplicated and unassuming BBQ spot by the airport. We landed around noon and drove here for lunch since it was a couple minutes away. You can't miss it, look for a blue building on the corner of South Street and Park Avenue. Their off street lot can fit a few cars. Wasn't too busy on a weekday. Don't expect fine dining here! Self serve utensil/drink stations, paper towel rolls instead of napkins, plastic picnic tables inside the dining room, foam takeout containers even if not ordering to-go... the focus is on the food. They have smoked meats à la carte, plates (protein with bread and your choice of two sides), sandwiches, and other side dishes. Desserts include peach cobbler, pecan pie, sweet potato pie, and cheesecake. BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwich - smokey and well seasoned! Sesame bun was ordinary BBQ Pork Sandwich - this one was excessively drowning in sauce but still tough to chew. Maybe to hide the quality of the meat? It was the least favorite out of the three orders Plate - moist, tender, saucy BBQ ribs. Coleslaw had an interesting cinnamon-y sweetness to it. Mac & cheese and cornbread muffin were nice accompaniments Summary: simple Southern-style sustenance for the soul!

Very good BBQ! The Collards and Mac & Cheese were outstanding! Can't believe that I've never tried this place before. Highly recommend it

Oooh yeah. Small place with easy parking. I was their last customer of the night and I talked to the owner. He gave me this combo plate with a little of everything. Ribs and brisket was absolute fire. I wasn't big on the sweet potatoes, but everything else was 100%

Great local place. I have been coming here for years. The interior is just laid back rustic bbq joint. Love the old school feel. They have kool aid on deck.... Need I say more??? Ordered the sloppy Joe. 7.6/10 collard greens 10/10 Mac n cheese 7.9/10 corn bread 8.8/10 and a hot link 9.2/10. Mac n cheese was great. A bit watery but very delicious. Not smoked. The sloppy Joe was delicious. A bit too much bark crunch in the mixture. The greens are seasoned and cook to perfection. Corn bread is a bit dry but flavor is fantastic. All in all I give a 8.8/10 I recommend everyone try!!! Everyone is so helpful and nice and friendly!

I have loved this place for forever, and used to schedule any meeting I had to have in that side of the world near lunchtime, just so I could eat there. Last night I was at 22nd and i10 at 4p and declared it close enough to them and dinner to count, so the daughter and I went. The daughter got the rib plate, and asked for both her sides to be sweet potatoes. Because they are that good. Cinnamon and brown sugar and nice and soft. I stole a bite. Or three. I got the combo plate - rib, hot links, sliced beef. The ribs are messy to eat (at least how we ate them) but there is a roll of paper towels on the counter and at 4p no one around to judge. I had the baked beans as a side, and they are spicy and insanely flavorful. Best beans I've ever had. The owner was there, and he is very nice. We had a great conversation about food. He was also training who I am assuming is a new hire, and was very patient and kind with him - exactly how you want to see employees being treated. It's a great environment. Hope I am over there again soon!

The catfish plate with creamy mac n cheese paired with candied yams, delicious!

My group and I made a quick pit stop in Tucson and wanted something good to eat. The reviews and photos live up to the hype. I finished my whole plate with no complaints. I would definitely recommend this place if you stop in town.

I was suprised to see this called burnt ends. I would have called this chopped beef.

After my last visit has to adjust the score to 3 starts. Maybe the pandemic has caused issues, but it wasn't as good as when I review it last.

I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

I loved this place and frankly, although great Mexican food in Tucson is a given, I didn't know they had good barbeque too. This included Brisket, Pulled Pork, Tri-tip, Sausage, Turkey, two St. Louis Style Pork Ribs, and 4 slices of toast with our choice of two eight-ounce sides (we chose the baked beans and coleslaw. My favorites were the Ribs, Brisket, Tri-tip, and baked beans. The turky was solid and smokey. I'm not really a fan of sausage, but my wife enjoyed these. I loved that you could really taste the smokey taste and that everything was fresh, juicy, and tender. The baked beans were the kind of love, with pieces of pork throughout the mixture. Because we split this platter (with leftovers), it was quite a good deal. When the bill came, the waitress listed a bunch of things that qualified for an extra discount, so we scored an additional 10% off for being seniors. If I lived in Tucson, this place would be on my regular restaurant rotation, which is high praise indeed!

My Uber driver was raving about it on the way over, which sealed the deal. While the cheap beer does require a food purchase, I was planning to eat anyway--no complaints there. I went with the 3-for-$11 taco deal and it was more than enough food. You get to choose between green or red salsa; I went with the green, which definitely has a nice kick. I asked the server if they could mix it up with two brisket tacos and one pork belly, and they were happy to accommodate. After reading some mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised--nothing was dry or overly fatty. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My total for four 10-oz beers and three tacos was just over $20, which is an incredible deal for the quality and amount of food and drink. I came to watch the U of A basketball game, and this place is perfect for it--plenty of TVs, tons of seating, and even space for large groups. There's also a covered outdoor patio with lots of seating, plus foosball and cornhole. Parking was easy, too. As someone who frequented this restaurant for the last few years, I had a firsthand look at how things were run, and in my experience management operated very unprofessionally. It ultimately pushed me to stop supporting this business, and based on those experiences, I can no longer recommend it. There are far better BBQ options out there. From what I personally witnessed, the owner, David, was consistently disrespectful toward employees and created a company culture that I don't believe deserves support. Also important to note that there is something up with the drains/ sewer system in this building and about once a week the entire dining room smells like a sewer leak.. gross
