Ribs, brisket, pork belly, pulled pork
Kelvin C.

This is a legit spot for bbq. The brisket is tender, juicy, flavorful, and the bark is mouth watering. Pulled pork had excellent smoke and fatty tenderness. The pork belly had great savory flavor, but could be a bit more tender. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and a blast of flavors. Nothing needs sauce to make it taste great, so that's a great sign of real bbq. The potato salad is house made and was my fav side.

This is my second time here, the first time ended with some pretty bad food poisoning and if it wasn't for a friend's birthday party I would never have gone here a second time. I decided to steer clear of the pork ribs and get a burger instead. It was a nice chunk of meat without much flavor or seasoning, French fries with made to order and were nice and hot. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. I find the BBQ here somewhat mediocre, the table side sauces were not very appealing and tasted watered down. Our service was excellent, Taylor our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Unfortunately they started cleaning the bathrooms before we had even gotten our check so I had to hold it. 2 stars is generous for this place

Holy Smokin Butts indeed is Holy smoked to perfection , the aroma hits you as you enter the establishment, males your mouth water in anticipation of the meal to come. Delicious fall off the bones ribs & brisket that just melts in your mouth. Pricing very comparable to most BBQ places. Lots of seating & friendly welcoming

Great name great food. Our waiter was extremely personable and the sandwiches we ordered were so tasty. We got a side of Mac n cheese and that was maybe even better.

4 Bone Rib Plate

We had tritips and a four bone rib plate. The ribs and the tritip were very tasty. The side of beans was very good. Homemade sauces really added to the flavor. Enough to take some home for another meal.

The add the bird platter

Cavernous, unadorned industrial space with simple tables and chairs scattered about the massive space. Simple menu with all one might want at a bbq. Staff was helpful, prompt and efficient. The meat was moist and well seasoned. Had the " Add the bird platter" only ate the brisket, slaw and a taste of each meat. $30 for dinner and protein for 3 lunches!

We ordered a combo platter for two, which came with brisket, pulled pork, smoked turkey, and tri tip, plus two sides. Everything was delicious, tender, juicy, tasty. The salads we ordered for our asides seemed a bit on the small side, but salad wasn't the main draw for why we went there! By the time we got to the restaurant, they were out of several of their meats, but fortunately they still had all the ones in this platter. They were pretty busy that evening, but our server was very attentive and friendly. With so many people dining there, it was a little loud, but not so loud we couldn't still carry on a conversation.

This bbq place is soooooooo good. The service has always been fast and friendly. But seriously, the food is delicious. The barbecue smoked baked beans are the best beans I've ever had. The ranch for their salad is homemade. It's amazing. I highly recommend it. I've had so many things off of their menu. I've not been disappointed with anything.

Mediocre bbq. I like to pass this place on the way to Smokey Mo's. It's also crowded and chain like. The service is great.

Ask the Community - Holy Smokin Butts BBQ

Are you going to be open on the 4th of JULY? If yes, regular hours?

We will be open, but the hours will be 11 - 3pm.

Is your dining room open?

yes, our dining room is open.

Is this a brick and mortar restaurant or no?

Absolutely. I know it is kinda vague on the website and the sign on Wilmot still reads "Quick Subs" or something. Either way, get to Wilmot and 22nd on the Northwest side of the intersection. Best ribs I've ever had!

Time to go back and review. I like to revisit places after a few years and see what is different…read more Smoky Mo didn't disappoint. Places are successful because they stay the course and do what they do best. Today we went with the four meat platter, perfect amount for two people, brisket, pulled pork, turkey and sausage. With four side of coleslaw, mac and cheese, potato salad and cornbread. All meats are still sauced unless requested "on the side", but not so much to overwhelm the meat taste. Juicy flavorful pulled pork. Delicious smoked turkey. Brisket was just slightly dry but the sauce and nice bark made it enjoyable. The sausage was AMAZING, juicy and packed with flavor. Coleslaw in my opinion, could use a little more "wetness" but it was still delicious. What can I say about the mac and cheese and potato salad, people from the south, Texas to the Carolina's just know how to get it done. The "Texas Sweet Tea", if you are a diabetic do not drink, however this is a true southern tea, it's done the same all across the south, sugar with some tea thrown in. Four meats, four sides and two drinks with tip $50, not bad for two people, I've definitely spent more for food that didn't even come close to this. Once again Smoky Mo you did not disappoint. If you are a BBQ person this is STILL the best of Tucson. Get out and support this small local business!

I tried it because I was told that it was one of the 2 best BBQ joints in Tucson. Hmmmm, not…read moreimpressed at all. I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

My friend, came into town from Cochise County and wanted to go to listen to jazz at Brother John's…read moresince it was Sunday afternoon. This restaurant has jazz every Sunday afternoon from 2-5p.m. Absolutely incredible musicians and singer! The crowd was festively dressed and happy and truly enjoying this music. We got shareable appetizers, the burnt end nachos with brisket and fried buffalo cauliflower florets with ranch dressing. Both delicious!! I had the Old Forester 1920 whiskey- 1 Oz and that was plenty! The bartender served us water as well as we had sat up at bar. The was professional and quite efficient. Before we left, I asked bartender what I could get to bring home for my dog- thinking he would laugh at me, but he told me he does same for his dog and that he eats better than him. We laughed when I said "same!" He suggested the tacos and would separate out the pulled pork from the onions, cotija cheese and jalapeños- and did! Kai loved that I brought her home "tacos!"Thank you for a great afternoon, Brother John's!!

The move to counter service completely changed the vibe of this restaurant, and not for the better…read more Service used to be the biggest highlight, and now it feels like you're paying the same prices for a much lower level of attention. As someone who frequented this restaurant for the last few years, I had a firsthand look at how things were run, and in my experience management operated very unprofessionally. It ultimately pushed me to stop supporting this business, and based on those experiences, I can no longer recommend it. There are far better BBQ options out there. From what I personally witnessed, the owner, David, was consistently disrespectful toward employees and created a company culture that I don't believe deserves support. Also important to note that there is something up with the drains/ sewer system in this building and about once a week the entire dining room smells like a sewer leak.. gross
