I finally checked out Brother John's a couple of weeks ago after wanting to try it for years. The restaurant was spacious and it was a chill spot with good food and friendly service. I was excited to come back some day but I just found out that they closed their doors this week.

I came here for a jazz day a couple weeks ago, and the music was amazing!! Five stars to that! I'm not sure if brother Jon does things like this regularly, but I would definitely go again for that. Because of this event, I think the business was a little more crowded than usual, so I definitely give slack to the serving staff for doing their best to accommodate all of the people and get everything done. My husband and I ordered the ugly steak salad, and the St. Louis ribs with macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese was just okay, as we're the ribs. I love the fries that came with my husband salad... however, we found that he was given the wrong order of steak and frites I think. They then brought out the correct order of the ugly stick salad which I guess I didn't get a picture of. That too was just okay. I really like the menu here, but none of the food really blew me away or made me feel a sense of great desire to have it again. I would definitely give them another chance on a less busy day though.

This review is for the beer bar only. The tap list is impressive. This was our final stop in Tucson for the day. We wanted to drink some new beer and this place popped up under "beer bar." Never having been here before, we stopped in around 4pm on a Friday. The place was not busy. The aroma of sweet BBQ welcomed us as we walked in. We had a fun time! Bartenders Gaston and Jim served us, and chatted with us when they had time. They both seem to enjoy their jobs. We had two different beers each. I'm sure the tap list changes with inventory. I had a sweet fruit beer, Rubaeus by Founder's in Michigan, and a Rogue Chocolate Stout from Oregon. My friend had a Dirty Bastard Scotch ale from Founder's and a Left Hand Milk Stout from Colorado. All four offered a varied taste sensation. This was the first time my friend had a Dirty Bastard on draft and he enjoyed it. The beers I had were new to me, too. The beer prices vary and it seems to depend on the ABV. Higher-alcohol beer like the Dirty Bastard (8.5% ABV; yikes!) is served in 10 oz snifters, while the lower alcohol beer comes in both 10oz and 16oz and higher. The crowd started coming in during our stay. The open dining area got louder but not annoyingly so. Our only complaint were the uncomfortable chairs at the bar. They didn't have back rests nor cushioning. If only they had comfy chairs for us seniors! We could have sat at a table but that meant closing out our tab and getting a server. We enjoyed Jim and Gaston too much. There is ample outdoor seating both up front and on the side, with family-style tables. It is dog-friendly, too, and shaded by trees. One thing we did note as we left were two parking spaces with broken glass. Were they residuals from recent break-ins? The parking lot is rather spacious.

Popped in here on Sunday because I heard they have good beef ribs. We were lucky enough to get the last two beef ribs- Big, juicy, tender! I was not disappointed in the ribs. I Got the beans as a side (meaty, flavorful and delicious!) and also got the greens as another side, but. I too impressed with the greens. They needed more seasoning. Live music on Sundays. They have A lot of different whiskey options, But I was surprised they don't do a smoked whiskey drink

Very nice interior ambience here. The food here is decent and reliable. But the best part about this place is the live jazz on Sundays in my opinion. Definitely worth coming too if you want to hear some live music, relax and have some decent food. Check their website because I know they have music at night as well

I stopped by Brother John's for a quick bite and ended up ordering the Smoked Brisket Elote. I'm a huge fan of Elote and this not only had great flavoring but the brisket was incredibly tender and delicious. The service was quick and attentive and the group I was with really enjoyed the live music. I do think that for the size of the portion, the price was a bit high for this but that being said, I would still order it again.

Bbq is dry, other dishes are better. I like the steak fries. Heard people like their salads. Tuesday is 2dollar small drafts happy hour.

Not sure why this place is only 3 stars!!! The ambience of this place is so cool! We went in as walk ins and got lucky to get a table. There was a band setting up but unfortunately didn't stay enough time to see. The raveeee is the food definitely though! We ordered the brisket tacos, brisket Mac and pulled pork sandwich. Let me just say.. those brisket tacos were flavorful and you have to get the hot sauce. It's a chunky salsa with the right amount of heat. The tacos seem small when they first come out but I promise they will dance around your tongue. The Mac and cheese for me personally was also another 10/10. Some crunch on top with some chili flakes and good size pieces of brisket. It was creamy and such a good portion to share with two. My wife did give it like a 7/10 but she's also lactose. The pulled pork was good nothing out of this world but good to satisfy a craving. The fries that come with it are flavorful and the BBQ selection is awesome. Also big shout out to our waiter because she had big tables and still attended to us very well and made sure our food was good! Overall a good experience and we would come back

    Sides: Bread and beans

    1. Wedge salad: If a customer orders it and you already know there's no bacon available, then let the customer know at the time of placing the order. Don't bring it to the table without one of the main ingredients that's listed in the menu description. Also, use fresh lettuce, not one that's obviously yellow and brown. 2. Bread: One of our items was described in the menu as being served on bread. When it arrived at the table without bread, we asked for it. What we received was white sandwich bread that looked like it came from a basic grocery store. Awful! 3. Beans: Dinty Moore??? Actually, that would've been better. The only positive thing I have to say is that my cocktail was good and the baby back ribs were tender.......... but I can make those just as good, if not better, at home. I actually felt embarrassed to have taken my parents there for dinner.

Came for a work holiday lunch. The table was ready when we arrived which i appreciated a lot! Our waitress was nice for our party but the service was so slow. Express lunch was not express and I'm confused about why the express lunch isn't advertised on the menu. The music was very loud and we had to ask for them to turn it down. The overall price for the quantity of food was not it but the food was pretty good. I got express lunch with pulled pork, the sweet potato and green beans. They have a 4 piece BBQ sauce assortment to click from on the table too!

Service was great here! Our server and waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. The venue was nice, very clean and spacious. We recommend the brisket and Mac and cheese with the sweet and spicy bbq sauce.

How much is family style dining per person? Or does it just mean to order a la carte off their regular menu?

It depends. I'm sure the prices have all gone up since I went there. It was already pricey back then.

I forgot which night it was now since we stayed in DT Tucson for Tour de Tucson from Thursday to Sunday. Oh, Actually I think it was a Saturday night because I remember wanting to go somewhere that had TVs that would show the Vegas F1 race. We got a table without reservation and they didn't have anything F1 on TV.. so we started just watching from our phone but then I noticed one of the main TVs above the bar started showing F1.. Now, I don't know if the servers of Elliott's were that observant and awesome or, they were already planning to show it once the race started... I choose to believe that our server was so awesome that she noticed we were watching F1 race on our tiny phone and put it on TV for us!! Honestly, just for that, 5 stars in my book. What also is a bonus is how good their food is. Sometimes you get nervous going to a local bar because food is not always good...though the people who run it and the place might be fun. However, you get all of the above at Elliott's. We ordered some mussels (cooked to perfection, not overcooked at all), pear salad, pineapple cider (delish), fish tacos, and steak. Everything was pleasantly yummy and the star was the mussels, which I did not expect to taste this fresh and delish, talking about setting low expectations and be pleasantly surprised! Overall, highly recommend. It did get darker and lots more busy and loud as we finished dinner and the Vegas F1 race finished. Def the place to bring people and friends to hang out and enjoy good food!

So many higher-end expensive restaurants serve bland, tasteless food, meanwhile this amazing mid-ranged restaurant is serving some of the best dishes I've ever had. The smashed chicken was probably the best chicken dish I have ever had at a restaurant. The skin was perfectly crispy while the meat was juicy and well-seasoned. The ginger and herb salsa verde was so fresh and aromatic. The cilantro rice complimented the lemongrass aioli perfectly. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and I'm usually one to reach for the salt shaker at most restaurants. Smoked olives are a concept I have never considered before. It's a concept that was executed perfectly here. So savory, flavorful, and complex. I'd love to have a few with a dirty martini. Speaking of drinks, my Casino gin cocktail was great. Perfect level of sweetness and tartness. I knew I had to order dessert after how good everything else was, even though I am usually not a dessert person. The oolong tea cake was nothing short of incredible. The tea flavor was subtle but paired well with the fluffy and light honey buttercream. Not too sweet at all. Of course, the service was great too. My wife pulled out her trusty phone, where she soon was directed to the highly-rated Raptor Canyon Cafe. So off we went. A warm and sincere greeting was the first of many pleasant things that we would experience in the next 45 minutes or so. The attitude and warmth of the staff here is exceptional. One really feels appreciated and welcomed while here. (*at least, my wife and I did) The place is decorated with a cute desert-Southwest vibe. A large building-sized mural of Father Kino mounted upon his rock-pony, is framed by the cute windows that look out on the quiet downtown streets. "Comfortable, with a slight splash of a mid-1970's Tucson cafe" is the energy I felt as we dined. One of my favorite things in the place is a steel-welded hawk figurine that is perched above the stately kitchen door. I imagined him tapping gently as he sat above the busy floor. And quoth the raptor, "The quesadilla is fy-orre". (Yes, I know, "floor", and "fire" don't really rhyme.) I never said I could spit fire (street lingo for being able to rhyme well.) My wife broke-character and ordered a breakfast sandwich. She normally goes for something more exotic, but as it turns out, this choice was a hit. Sometimes, simple things can offer great pleasures-and her egg and bacon filled biscuit offered proof of this statement. I listened to the imagined whisper of the watchful hawk, and decided to follow his raptorial wisdom/advice. Soon, the bacon quesadilla was placed before me (see photo). I added a splash of the locally produced hot sauce offered with a bit of ketchup and it all came together beautifully. The textures of the grilled tortilla; the barely not too hot melted cheese, and the crispy thick slices of bacon were as close to perfection that plate of breakfast could come. It really was good-eating in the neighborhood. We both ordered the fried potatoes with peppers and onions. If you go and don't get one of these, it will be a rookie move. Do not forget to order this side...esta muy bueno! It is actually a lot of food, and my better-half and I agreed that we could have split the dish. But, as we stood to say our good-byes and thank you's, neither of our plates had any evidence that fried potatoes had recently rested upon them. They actually looked like they had just been taken from the dishwasher--spot less. All-and-all, this place quickly worked its way into my heart. It's got wonderful chow (just In case I didn't emphasize how tasty is was--it was "really-really-really" good eats). The entire Raptor Canyon's staff shared pleasant demeanors, and the place has a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. Officially, I would categorize this establishment as a, "hidden gem" of Tucson. You have my permission to go there, but please keep it, "on the down-low "so that it doesn't get too popular. (*wink)
