Rude, tried to upsell repeatedly even after I told them I only wanted oil/filter change. Did the change in less than 10 minutes. I realized after that they didn't do any of the other checks that come standard with oil/filter change, but I left in a hurry because they were so rude. I almost wonder if they actually changed the filter. I rechecked the oil and they put in the minimal amount, not to the top. I will never return here. read more

My employer sent me here to get the oil changed in one of our company vehicles, and I was very impressed with the service. I liked how their computer consoles have a second monitor facing the customer which shows you exactly what the attendant is entering on their computer. In addition to making sure your information is being entered accurately, you can see how the costs of your service break down as your invoice is being rung up. The attendant selected the correct type of oil for the engine of my vehicle, and emailed me the receipt afterwards. I was very pleased with the speed and efficiency of their service, and I plan to return to this business in the future. read more

Came in for oil change with is normal then they started to take the oil filter off but claimed it was to tight and broke it and the tech started making excuses and excuses had to tow it to a ho eat reliable mechanic to fix it which took 5 minutes I would never go here again and I recommend everyone also don't go there read more

The computers were down so I got an email that I paid zero dollars for an oil change but if the same time when I was there, I asked for full synthetic and I noticed they were trying to give me normal motor oil. The second time I went, they were using a power tool to take off my oil bolt. My oil bolt is stripped now and you're not supposed to use power tools to takeoff oil bolts. That's why they only have wrenches under there. I didn't come here expecting anything but run of the mill, basic oil change services so I think it fulfilled my needs in that way. I have a fairly new car so maybe it's more difficult to upsell me, but everything they suggested to me actually seemed to make sense. The filters they replaced were shown to me and they were indeed super grimy. I wasn't sure about the engine flush but it seemed like a good idea? The conversation was lacking and I wouldn't drink the coffee here, but nothing really to complain about either. I think I would go back. read more

Ladies and anyone else who looks like a mark - please take heed. You could get taken for a ride and not in the good way. When I was in university I got egregiously scammed by a Jiffy Lube so much so that I had to borrow money for rent that month. This put me off of these types of chains until a few months ago when I decided I didn't have time to go to the dealer for an oil change so I popped into this Mr. Lube. The experience was very satisfactory! I told my friends! I decided that maybe I didn't need to set aside half the day to go to the dealer anymore for routine things. Then I went back for another oil change. Everything they said was in line with the maintenance schedule except... I was told I was in dire need of new front brakes. I have a terrible memory but I vaguely remembered doing something brake related with the car many months back. I figured it was the back brakes because otherwise why bring it up? I'm very, VERY lucky that they didn't have the parts on hand, but I did go ahead and pay with the plan to bring the car back the next morning. Thank god because this gave me a chance to come home and check my service binder and discover that I did indeed have the front brakes replaced less than 4k km previously (I don't drive much). So then I thought... okay, maybe the dealer scammed me and charged me for work they didn't do? I started investigating. Called all my car savvy friends, looked up photos of brake pads online, found a Youtube video that taught me to check the depth of the brake pad without calipers (which I was about to go out and buy because it was driving me crazy). And yep - front brakes are in near new condition. I called them back and told them I wasn't coming in and to please refund the brake job which they did without fuss. So to sum up - 5 stars for first experience, Negative stars for fraud on the second experience, and 4 stars for making it right. I will never, ever go to this place again, and I recommend that you don't either unless you have perfect recall of your service history and maintenance schedule and have the time to play Sherlock Holmes. Yes, you could get the guy I worked with the first time, but that's not a game of chance worth playing for potentially being out $500. On the up side, I now know a LOT more about brakes than I used to (or wanted to). read more

Only go here if you've read through your manual. Every Mr. Lube tries to upsell me to a point where it's upsetting. It's interesting how if you bring a "man" with you the upsell was significantly less but still aggressive enough to be uncomfortable, even to a car dude who builds his own vehicles! According to a reliable car source, a "flush" is a waste of money. Well, when I checked my records, sure enough, I had purchased an oil flush on an almost new car bringing my total oil change close to $80 and this was two years ago! I would never trust any of these guys as far as I could throw them. Do your research, ladies! Today they tried to tell me that I needed a new fuel filter AND a fuel system flush after just 40 000 clicks; a quick look at the manual told me this was not necessary until after 50 000; this would have been my second flush, too! It was all bs,considering what my actual car MANUAL told me! Never mind that this was once again clarified by a guy who builds his own cars! Remember "no" means "no" no matter how hard they try. I'm still angered just thinking about it and the extra money I've given to these guys over the years. And I always thought that I was pretty level-headed about these types of things. But I guess I was just too nice. :( And to think I was going to rate these guys three stars. Seriously, do not get more than an oil change! Live and learn. Was my favorite place to go till I was wrongly informed. They argue about discounting for my own oil filter plus discount on service that was emailed to me! Then say you cant get both!. First of all the oil filter you supply isnt good enough lubrication for my swedish brick! So costs me $10-$17 filter elsewhere I bring to get only $5 discount! Then the prices have gone up! Tell me I need my rear differential fluid done. I had it done 2017 was told at NV location it will be good for life of car! Charge more for thicker oil ! Money grabber. ( I misplaced that little sticker on my windshield a couple weeks back) Preparing to start rejecting all the up selling the gentlemen was most likely about to start firing at me something happened that shocked me. After looking under the hood the guy asked if he could be honest with me for a second. I replied yes and he went on to tell me that my car really didn't need an oil change right now and that I would just would be wasting my money. Just like other customers, we were lied to at this location. We stopped in for an oil change and was told that we urgently needed both a radiator and transmission fluid flush (a total of approx. $300 after tax). We declined these services, got a second opinion, and discovered that neither fluid needed flushing. Also, basic services that are typically included with an oil change at Mr. Lube were not performed at this location, and our mechanic had a bad attitude (shaking his head at us when we declined additional services). I was blatantly LIED TO and almost paid for an unneeded $200 transmission fluid change. I had an oil change done here 3 months ago and at the time I was told my transmission fluid was black - very possible on my 16 year old car. I didn't have the money at the time, nearly $200 even with a 'deal' if I committed to have it done right then. My partner had a look, and said that the fluid looked fine to him - still red. I've been meaning to get to it, but money has been tight. I recently had to bring my car in to a mechanic for another problem with the engine. He checked the fluid and it was indeed fine - (not that I didn't completely believe my partner ;). I'm used to being upsold at places like this, but this is the first time I found out I'd been completely lied to. Really disappointed and will not be going back. Also wouldn't allow me to use my emailed Mr Lube $10 coupon discount along with $5 discount for bringing my own oil filter. I have to not use there oil filter as it doesn't allow for proper lubrication of my engine. As they dont have the most used oil filters 'Mann'. read more

Upselling is one thing. Flat out deception is an entirely different matter. I am vigilant enough to know how my car is doing mechanically and if anything might be an issue of concern. Especially leaks. The night before I go for an oil change ANYWHERE, I check all my fluids and place cardboard under the engine overnight to see if there are any drips. So...after that routine, I find NO leaks, low or questionable fluid conditions and head off to Mr. Lube on Hastings, 2.7 km away. Part way through the process they report I have a "major oil leak; oil all over the underside of the engine." I say I don't think so and explain how I had just checked everything. They immediately changed it to a "minor oil leak." I again reject that and tell them perhaps they were just sloppy removing the filter. They agreed, "maybe that is where the oil came from." There is only one word to describe this...SCAM! Edit Nov2014. I've since been to the Mr. Lube at Main and 2nd and had a much better experience. Just went here for an oil change. The last service I had at my mechanic (5000 km ago) I got all fluids done as I was due - differential, transmission, and coolant swap. When I went in they asked me how long it was since I got those done, and I thought I'd run an experiment - I told them probably about 40000 km ago. The guy told me that it's overdue and 'his guys' just told him that the trans and diff fluid is black like used oil and the coolant is just water, and showed me his little coolant device. Pretty funny since I could hear everything that was going on and his 'guys' never told him anything, he never had time to test my coolant, and then of course EVERYTHING was done 5000 km ago!!! Yep, I went here because the oil change snuck up on me and I needed one right away. Next time I'll go to my mechanic and if I wait too long again then I'll just do it myself. I've been here twice with my 2009 BMW. The first was for a coolant flush which was fine. The second was for a synthetic oil change, which ended up costing almost twice as much as their advertised price, "because it's a BMW". Their price ended up being the same as a certified BMW shop. They also "checked" the transmission fluid, said it was black and needed to be flushed, I declined. The transmission is a replacement and only 18 months old. They also said the brake fluid in rear brakes was dangerously low. I took the car to Nixon ( a certified BMW shop) and had them check trans fluid and brakes. They couldn't check trans fluid because Mr. Lube had stripped the cap threads, and it couldn't be removed they never even saw the fluid colour because the cap has never been removed. Now I have to pay shop time to remove and replace cap. The brake fluid was fine as well. I will never go back to Mr. Lube. read more

I've been to Mr. Lube twice. The first time, it was in-and-out in 10 minutes for an oil change with no attempt to sell anything more than what I asked. The 2nd time was for another oil change. I haven't had any mechanic look at my car for over 2 years, so I knew there would be something flagged by them. They recommended transmission fluid service because it was no longer red. Sure enough, it was black as oil. I thought the price was a little high at $179 but I agreed anyway. The value of going to Mr. Lube isn't the service itself. It's the speed. You can be out of there within 10-30 minutes because they have 3-4 people working on your car simultaneously. There's always a waiting list at the dealership so they won't get to your car until hours later. If your time is valuable, Mr. Lube is a good option. If you're price sensitive, then this is probably not the option for you. read more

This outfit is notorious for up-selling. Theirs is an ancient scam, but some people still fall for it, every time. The first clue is that they refuse to post their basic oil change charges on their display sign. Why? Because they want to get their 'customers' into a mindset where every price is unstated.That helps the up-selling. I was the victim of one of their up-selling scams, as they tried to sell me a 'radiator power flush' that I did not need, and which would have done damage to the vehicle. When I pointed this out, they became angry and "insulted". This business is an insult to honest operators everywhere. How they keep their franchise is a mystery. The manager apologized and offered the next oil change for free as compensation. So I go there often, these people have always treated with respect and courtesy. At my last visit I also need one of my headlights to be changed. I had the bulb and ask them to changed it. the manager came over and did it himself. No charge! They're great at upselling, guilting and pressuring you and giving attitude when you don't concede to their whims. An oil change turned into needing $347 worth of work done which was unbelievable. They insisted on the importance of getting the work done as soon as possible and made it sound as if the car would blow up if I didn't. I had to double-check with a friend and they got irritated, obviously because they knew they'd be called out for lying. It's an oil change shop. Just get your oil changed, and get everything else done elsewhere unless you REALLY need to pay for the convenience because that's really all it could be worth. I went to Mr Lube to get my oil changed. When they were doing the service they told me that my transmission fluid was no good, the system needed to be flushed and new fluid put in. They said the same for the coolant. Then they told me that my fuel system needed to be cleaned as well. All this for an extra $300! I told them that I would take my car to my regular mechanic because I didn't believe what I was hearing. Good thing I did! My mechanic told me that all of my fluids were fine and that nothing that Mr Lube recommended was necessary. I will NEVER go to Mr Lube again! They LIED right to my face, telling me the transmission fluid was frothy and the coolant was low. They also said their $100 additive would increase my fuel efficiency, which is total garbage. If you need an oil change I'd recommend going to a proper mechanic who actually knows a thing or 2 about cars. Mr Lube just tries to up sell at every turn and it doesn't stop when you say no. I expect a certain amount of upsell, but as someone who does a lot of work on my own cars I tend to know what's valid and what isn't. Went in for a full synthetic oil change on my middle-aged BMW 5-series. I expected pricey as my car takes 7.5 litres. The extra 1.5 litres were $23. I expect some mark-up, considering full-synthetic is about $11 a litre at CDN Tire so no biggie. As they had the hood up, I knew my engine air filter needed to be replaced. They spotted that and quoted me $29, not bad as that's about retail. My bill, at this point was $180 including tax. This was where the "good" part ended. The advisor comes over with a grave expression. "You have some problems..." He suggested I needed the following: - Cabin air filter replacement ($70) - Transmission fluid flush and fill ($300) - Rear Differential Fluid flush and fill ($179) - Radiator / Coolant Flush and Fill ($149) The grand total, not including the now $180 bill for my oil change and new engine air filter would have been closer to $1000, had I agreed to let them have at it. Now I know that at worst, cabin air filters are $40 and take 5 minutes to replace. I had just had my water pump replaced last month and had a full rad flush done so I asked why he believed my car needed this -- the explanation was that it's a critical service thing that if not done could cause major engine problems. I probed more into the other two services, asking what brand parts they would be using for the transmission service; would they change out the pan gasket, clean the magnetic pickup, etc, etc? I was assured they would, as they "do these all the time." I declined the services as I'd rather have the fluid changes done at my usual BMW indie shop that knows what they are doing and would charge less, a lot less. The cabin air filters? Ordered them from Amazon.ca for $8 and I'll install them when they arrive on Monday. It's unfortunate that places like this still get away with scaring people into paying overinflated prices for services they really don't need and in the case of the radiator flush scare - that's bollocks. I give them credit for convenience as I was able to drive up and get the oil changed on my way to work but from now on, I'll stick with my local shop who I trust to not try to rip me off. read more

Went in for an oil change and took the oil flush service. Was then told that the transmission fluid was dirty and very low. Was offered a flush and refill service for that for $190. Went ahead and declined it. After leaving went out and bought some transmission fluid and it was pretty low, then noticed that the dip stick for it was not put back in properly. Refilled one quart and the levels seem fine. Will not be going back to this place. read more

I have just recently purchased a car from a friend (it's an old but reliable Japanese car that even Josh said would go forever if I maintained it). I bought it from a good friend who had a mechanic look it over and fixed the odds and ends before I bought it from her. She said the only thing I really needed to do was get an oil change.So there I was getting an oil change, and of course they do an inspection of the vehicle which is included in the price and thats where the scam continues.Josh tells me "do you want the bad news, good news or no news first". I'm like ok give me the bad news first. He says oh you need your transmission fuel changed and showed me that it was black and it was supposed to be pink, something another person has already posted on here.Then he told me another thing, I can't remember but basically he said I need to spend another $200 if I want my car to be ok. I was like yeah okay maybe another day.So I leave, give him a $10 tip because I didn't realize I was getting conned! So I leave and immediately on the way out I hear what sounds like metal on metal coming from my wheel. I'm so upset I call my friend who sold me the car and she said there was no way there were any problems with it before she sold me it, and she was right because I drove it for two days and it was running smoothly. So I call back and Josh answers and tells me to come back. He gets one of the staff members to drive around with me so I can show them the noise.They say (with a smug face) they can hear it but that they don't touch the wheels when they do the service (LIES). So we go back into the building and they say well we didn't do it but let's get the mechanic from across the alley to check it out.We go again for another drive and you can hear the nasty noise of metal on metal again. It's so loud that there is NO WAY I would have not heard it before.The mechanic says not to worry, it's either your break pads or rotors. Come by later and I will fix it. Oh really? They were just checked and now my rotors are messed up? So I tell Josh, who gets his whole team to come over while they see that I am visibly upset.He then starts insulting my mechanic saying that it was my mechanics fault,he's the con artist, mechanics just tell you what you want to hear. Then the other staff members start chiming in saying there's no way we could have caused this, we aren't mechanics, and they are saying this in a very rude and patronizing way. By this time I am almost in tears and I wanted to call the police but I called my mechanic who tells me to get to him immediately.So I go there and the metal on metal noise is so loud I'm embarrassed and people are looking at me while I am driving because it's so loud.I would turn the corner and it would turn into a shrilling squeak. I meet up with my mechanic (the same one my friend uses) and he takes the wheel off and he is in shock to see that the splash guard is severely bent and hitting the rotor.Now I can't say that they did that to my car,all I can say is the truth, that my car that I just bought from a good friend who had this mechanic thoroughly check it out was now severly damaged.The mechanic said that there is no way that this could have just"happened"without it being tampered with.Also there is no way that it was like that before I went there because I would have known.So he fixes it (costing me more money and ruining my day)Then he checks to see if they changed the oil.Yes, they did change the oil.But wait!!! They NEVER changed the oil filter which was included.How do I know this? Because the filter was filthy and leaking oil.The filter actually had a leak in it and they never changed it.I guess I'm just a stupid and naive girl and I will never know right? WRONG.So I call Josh back up and tell him what happens. He denies it all. My mechanic talks to him and then they put me on with the manager who belittles me on the phone and refuses to give me my money back.There's more to this story but I'm running out of room. If I have any concerns they are glad to show me what they are talking about, they even took me underneath my car to see for myself the leak they noticed. Came in for oil change. Manager told me needed new transmission fluid. Quoted $169 and said dealer would charge $189. I called the dealer. They quoted $98. I ended up having it done here for $109 to save the hassle. Still I was not impressed. Probably won't return. read more

This store disgusts me. I'm an auto mechanics student, I grew up with my grandfather collecting old cars and having tons of family friends who were car mechanics, boat mechanics , motorcycle mechanics etc. I went in to get an oil change cause I wanted convenience I wanted it done right away, immediately they try to up sell me saying I direly need to flush my transmission because it was dark red and it's supposed to be pink.... That's already a red flag ... I refused and the employee kept trying to push it. Long story short I left with just the oil change. 6months go by and I see that now I really do need a transmission flush I go to them once again for convenience now mind you I checked the fluid beforehand it kept coming out clear with a tinge of red. I checked several times car running over a couple days.... First comment out of the employees mouth was "oh my god that's black".... No it was murky red very clear. If it were black it would smell burnt. Not to mention after all was said and done they took 10 minutes to "tighten a few things up" under my car after filling the fluids...
