Delicious take-away sushi with a Tex-Mex twist. Lots of choices on the menu. Among us we had five different dishes. All excellent.

We are officially DONE with this place. Ever since they changed the restaurant from Fiore to Salt &…read moreFin, it has all gone downhill. I understand they're competing with the other restaurants. However, they really need to reevaluate everything. The last couple times we went to the main restaurant, and as my previous reviews state, the food has never improved although the servers were amazing. The food cannot stand on its own. We took our son specifically to the oyster bar because there were noodles. Unfortunately, we were told once we sat down that there was no Ramen and the udon was not an option. So my son had decided he wanted the curry rice. My husband and I settled on getting some light appetizers and possibly wanted to split a dish. However, remembering that the rice was horrible and overcooked, we avoided any rice based dishes. So we asked our wonderful server For a taste of the sushi rice (please note that my husband is a sushi chef), unfortunately, they were not accommodating so we did not feel comfortable to order sushi at that time. We sat at the bar, watching everything get prepared, we realize that the young person who was building the seafood tower was inexperienced. We only say that because every oyster and clam that we had on the tower had some type of shell broken in or possibly dirt. The shrimp and crab legs were fine. However, we could not get past eating the majority of the oysters as they were not shucked properly. As we waited for our son's dish, we were told that the curry was no longer an option, and unfortunately, that was the only other food. My son was interested in. I do not put blame on the oyster bar front of house, staff, because I knew they were not the ones in the kitchen who dropped the ball in making the curry for the evening. As my husband and I received our temporary shrimp, one of them was rancid. They were kind enough to replace it, however, we have to note that the temporary batter was not properly stored because it was too thick like a pancake batter, the temperature was either too low or the batter was too warm. The tempura vegetables were okay but the batter killed it. Also the tempura sauce itself, was way too sweet. Most of it could've been easily bought by the food distribution company Sysco. Not something I would want to pay high price for. The salad that we ordered, was a simple Caesar salad however, it was lightly dressed, and we could barely taste anything. It's just heartbroken to see that they have all the space to work on noodles and yet nothing could be done about using it. Maybe they can't afford to fix it. I don't know. The restaurant seemed like it had in a space for a lot of guests however they were very limited. I'm not sure if it's because the kitchen staff was overwhelmed and they couldn't handle high volume. It's just very disappointing that we couldn't get the food that we would've liked. Unfortunately we did end up going to another place to get some chicken on the property. It was a total waste of money and we will never return.

The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the visit. The food was the highlight--everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. Overall, I'd rate it a 10/10 and would definitely recommend it to anyone craving great sushi and if you're able to handle dessert afterwards their ice cream tempura is absolutely amazing!!

She's always attentive throughout our entire dining experience and makes us feel well taken care of without being overbearing. She has such a warm friendly personality, and it's clear she genuinely enjoys what she does. As for the food, we like to try different rolls each time. Some of our favorites so far are the Escondido roll, Dynamite roll (definitely one of our top picks), Dragon roll, and the asparagus tempura roll. We'll sometimes add a spicy California roll too. On colder days, I love getting their miso soup or spicy tonkatsu ramen, you can even switch out the protein for an extra charge, which is a nice option. My husband usually goes for the chicken katsu curry, and I really enjoy the beef yakisoba or the teriyaki salmon. So if you're in Escondido definitely give them a try!

Muna you have a heart of gold I thank you for making my family and I feel warm and welcomed. You really deserve the best in life! Muna's professionalism, kindness, and warmth truly changed my experience. Maurice was also very welcoming and kind. He greeted us with a big smile and made sure we felt comfortable and attended to. Before going in, I opened the restaurant door where a group of ladies and one male yelled with a very rude tone "we're closed." After their rude comment, the female employee with the copsticks in her hair (who ended up working at the bar today) turned to her friends and laughed with them. It is very rude and unprofessional to greet a customer that way. It is purely childish. This was 4 minutes before opening. Before I even stepped inside to ask a simple question to see if we need reservations, I was disrespected and felt so disappointed I walked away. I wanted to say something to management and never dine here again but Muna changed my experience. Thank you Muna for making such a positive and strong impact for salt & fin. If it wasn't for you, I would not have come here again.

No complaints to our server but probably to management, but they seemed understaffed for a Saturday night. We got neglected a lot and observed the other tables complaining. $80 for a mid steak is crazy. But shame on me for craving a steak in this casino i guess. Meat was tender but you could taste that it was probably thawing in the fridge for a couple of days. Also disappointed in the lobster roll. Lobster itself was cold which over time made the bread itself cold. Ended up just taking out the sad lobster and eating the roll itself because it was buttered up and fried goood... just cold. Wouldn't really recommend those two dishes. Ambiance was nice and cozy and they had those fake candles. I'm not sure I came on a bad night but I came out disappointed. Wouldn't recommend for a birthday dinner.

And I put buffet in quotations because it's not actually a standard buffet, but more of a sit down "all you can eat". You need to be at blue card level (2nd tier level) to gain access to the buffet but they sometimes will let new people or red cards enter if they aren't busy. There's also a mandatory $8 (recently raised from $7) tip per person that's dining. If you're not black card (highest tier) you usually have to wait 1-2 hours before even being called to get in line. Then you have to wait in line 20-45 additional minutes before being seated. Black cards get to skip the initial wait and go directly into the line to wait to be seated. Once you're seated you get to choose a soup, salad, or both and then wait for them to bring you the food. Then you have to wait again for your server or try to flag one down to place another round of orders. On average my family has noticed people usually only do the appetizer round, one or two main rounds, and dessert because of the long service times. My family averages around 4-5 main rounds so we sit there for 3-4 hours sometimes with the majority of that time just waiting. The service is the main reason I say this place is hit or miss. If you get a nice and attentive server then everything goes great, but some of the servers are very noticeably there to just do the minimum amount for the job and that's it. Some servers will listen to your orders and actually tell you what additional options there are (like for the lobster tails we didn't even know until months later that we could get it with garlic butter or different sauces on top of it), and some even go and get the food to bring directly to you if they notice you've been waiting too long. Others.. will look around and barely hear what you're ordering and get the whole plate wrong or forget items for your order, resulting in you only getting 2 or 3 of what you asked for instead of the whole 4 that you're supposed to get. Or sometimes the opposite happens where they bring 2-3 of the same item on one plate and none of the other items that you ordered. It's already bad enough that most of the time, the servers only come to your table every 30-45 minutes so you're waiting an incredibly long time just to get one plate of food. The best times to go are definitely the weekdays very early right when they open (if you're not a black card) and the worst times are Fridays and weekends. They also have a recommendation to not have groups larger than 4 because they either split you up or you have to wait an extremely long time for a table to accommodate your group (because they only have 2 tables for large parties). They honestly should just turn the cafe dining room into an additional dining area for the buffet since that space goes wasted after they close and the cafe is literally right on the other side of the wall of the buffet. We've been coming here every other Friday for the drawings for almost 2 years now and the service is so inconsistent but the food is great! There has only been one time I was served a rancid lobster tail and almost threw up in the dining area. The menu changed last month and we tried the new tenderloin, it was absolutely perfect. But then a few weeks ago we tried it again and it was served well done even though we all asked for medium rare (and that's the last time we ever ordered the tenderloin because of that). One problem that happened the other day though was that the people doing the seating weren't seating any of the black card line. There were 8 tickets lined up and only 4 for the other line, but they kept seating the other side and kept putting up a new ticket. The group in front of us had 2 disabled people waiting for 30 minutes (and one of them was missing a leg). I felt so bad for that guy. The explanation was that "we have to follow the timestamp on the tickets to seat people fairly" but hello??? We're not blind. No one was being seated in the black card line for 30 minutes, even small groups of 2 that were in front of us started complaining. I don't understand the "timestamp" bs because we can actively see people getting in the other line, paying waaaay after the 3 groups ahead of us AND us, and still get seated before us. A group of 5 that paid after us in the general line got seated before any of the 3 groups ahead of us. It was just ridiculous but was a one off bad experience compared to the hundred we've had but thought I'd mention it. We still love coming to eat here because the food is great and consistent and almost all of us are black card members so we get food vouchers, but the service definitely needs some improvement or at least consistency equal to the food quality.
