First time trying this spot and it did not disappoint! We ordered the combo + chicken plate and everything was so tasty. The chicken quality really stood out, super tender and not stringy like you get at other places. The teriyaki sauce was light and flavorful, not overly heavy, and even the salad was delicious. Portions were generous while still feeling healthy. On top of that, the ambiance was super chill and the service was amazing. We'll definitely be coming back. read more

Fast food but not unhealthy fast food. This spot is a great spot for a healthy quick eat either after the gym or at work any meal wont leave you lethargic for the rest of the day. - looking to trim inches ask to flop rice for salad Best part is service is always fast and they remember regulars which gives value to the visit. Small dining room for a quick eat with a friend for lunch then back to the shenanigans of the day. They also have a reward program which is nice. read more

My husband and I stopped in for lunch one day as we were in a shopping plaza nearby and I'm so happy we decided to eat here. Their chicken teriyaki is honestly life-changing. The chicken itself is cooked to perfection but their teriyaki sauce is just heaven. I don't usually like teriyaki sauce as I've gotten nauseous from it a lot growing up, but this is hands down the best teriyaki sauce I've ever had. I bought a bottle to take home with me because I was so happy and excited. It's a constant craving now. We ended up splitting a teriyaki chicken platter and the teriyaki sliders. Literally you can't go wrong with anything on their menu as long as you order teriyaki. We will be back for sure! Also! They have a great amount of easy parking and plenty of seating inside as well! We have been coming to surf Brothers for over 20 years! Back in the day in Encinitas, it was called Island Brothers and the food has always been excellent. The combo meal with steak and chicken served opposites, which means double the salad and half the rice is my go to. They also have some thing called Don Burri which is the dark meat chicken pieces simmered in teriyaki sauce. So juicy and flavorful! My kids like the slider meal that comes with chicken sliders on Hawaiian sweetbread and side of their tasty salad and rice. I have so many memories of my dad taking me here for a special lunch after school, and now I take my own children here. Yes, the prices have gone up but the food is delicious and well worth it. The restaurant is always clean, you get your food quickly, and it's consistent. I have never once had a bad meal here and look forward to continuing to make memories and fill our bellies at surf brothers ‍ read more

I went in last week. There was no one physically waiting for food. I ordered a chicken bowl and steak slider to go. It took almost 10 minutes. The employees didn't work with any sense of urgency. The slider had no slaw, and there was a minimal amount of beef. The chicken was ok. There were some grisly bits in it. My meal was just on. I don't know what has happened, but I am disappointed by the entire experience again. It is worth driving to the Teri Cafe or going to L&L Barbecue. read more

There are a few places I frequent. I tend to edge on the side of "let's try a new place, what if we discover something amazing!" It's the early-adapter in me. Every so often, I like to return to a previous establishment. I am proud to share that Surf Brothers Teriyaki is on that list of staple go-back-to places. Their ingredients are simply yet quality. Their menu is concise. And their service is EXCEPTIONAL. I used to work in the plaza across the street (I don't now, and so I hadn't been to SBT in a while), and the cashier (Juan, I believe is his name) not only remembered me after so long, but greeted me as if no time had passed at all! It was the most sincere and sweetest interaction. It made my day that day and I smile thinking back to it, to this day. God bless this business, God bless this food, God bless the staff. Was starving and saw this spot so pulled over. Paid 16$ for a teriyaki chicken plate, and the meat and rice were good, however I felt like the portion size did not at all match the cost, as I still felt hungry afterwards. The salad was also very bland and added nothing to the chicken plate and I ended up not eating it. Would I go here again knowing all this? No, not really. For the amount of money I feel like I could get more food elsewhere and a better experience. read more

We love this place. Super simple wholesome menu, fresh and delicious! The dining room is open, clean and always has available seating. Service is excellent, quick, and it's a good value. They were so nice one time we accidentally spilled one entire plate as soon as we received our order and they cleaned it and replaced the food. We felt so bad to have wasted the meal and caused the mess and they were so understanding. We also love the mural that covers almost the entire interior, and the colorfully painted parrot figures on perches hanging from the ceiling. Very islandy feeling. read more

I needed a quick bite so I decided to try Surf Brothers. The menu is a basic teriyaki meal (chicken or beef) with rice and a coleslaw. Not much on the menu but I was impressed by the taste. I selected the combo with beef and chicken. The meat was done well and tender. The sauce is very good. Not too sweet or tangy. The coleslaw was very good. I like my coleslaw a little drier so I enjoyed it a lot. It was a quick meal for a reasonable price. The only real suggestion it would have been nice to have umbrellas with their outside tables. Didn't even know what this was until my husband said it's a good teriyaki place. We needed lunch before dessert and got their teriyaki and rice plate. Reminded me of like a Flame Broiler. Teriyaki chicken was good. I think dark meat, not dry and flavorful. Good teriyaki sauce. You can also taste the grill on the chicken. Towards the bottom some burned charred pieces that you can't eat, very little though. If I'm in the area, it's a good healthy option. read more

Noticed most restaurants increased their prices by about 30% or so over the past few years... ...this place has literally gone up by 100% and doubled their prices. I was looking at pictures of my phone from years ago and it was $7 and Change for any of the three meal combos they offer... now it's almost $15 BEFORE TAX... Thanks but no thanks, I don't see how a couple ounces of meat on top of white rice justifies the price... ...also amazing that wages and salaries don't seem to correlate with the inflated price even a little bit. read more

The teriyaki steak I ordered was terrible. The sauce tasted processed and not enough ingredients to make it authentic. The steaks you use was cheap, the kind that don't have taste and the cuts were so thin. Not impressed but was disappointed. L&L is better. read more

So your establishment closes at 9:30 PM... but actually closes at 9:00 PM... but also has a last call in 10 minutes... but also refuses service? Got it. Crystal clear. Listen, if y'all want to leave at 9:00, then change the damn hours to 9:00. Do not advertise 9:30 and have people driving 70 miles just to get hit with attitude and false hope. So we walked out and went somewhere else. Being turned away wasn't the problem. The problem was being treated like customers showing up during YOUR posted business hours was somehow our fault.
