You can taste the love in Mr.Nelson's cookies! You can tell that these are not mass produced over commercialized cookies. We purchased cookies at the Gilbert farmers market from Mr. Nelson. He asked whether we would be enjoying these cookies now or later. When we told him later he gave us instructions on how to warm them up at home for the best cookie enjoying experience. When we enjoyed them later they did not disappoint! I can't help but smile every time I think of Mr.Nelson beaming with pride over his delicious cookies. Good cookie it is, but "world's perfect" cookie it is not. Each morsel is relatively small but hefty and comes at the premium pricetag of $5. To get some cookies for my friends, I decided to buy the dozen pack for $25. They came packaged in plastic and came cold which made me a little weary to their lofty claim already. However, I was willing to give the cookie a chance to be crowned the kind. Opening up the package and giving it a sniff, the complex chocolate notes and creamy vanilla scent had me intrigued. You can tell by smell alone the ingredients were luxurious. I took a bite and all I could think was was "Wow, this sucker is freaking sweet!". While I could taste a hint of the quality of the ingredients, it quickly got drowned out by the intense wave of sugar. Where was the slight bitterness of cocoa? Was the balance of kosher salt not considered to round off that cavity inducing sweetness? Not to mention, the bite texture felt more akin to a Chips Ahoy over a fresh baked cookie with a soft interior but crunchy edge. I know everyone's definition of perfection can be subjective, but for me, this cookie missed the mark. read more

I tried a Mr Nelson cookie at a local street fair recently. The owner was very nice and explained that his cookies use premium ghiardelli chips and expensive vanilla. The cookies were quite expensive at $5 a pop. The reason this review is two stars is neither me nor my wife thought they were very good. They had a strong floury taste and we're pretty bland. I'm a huge fan of chocolate chip cookies and have tried most brands, but at $5 a pop I expect a much larger decadent tasting cookie. These were certainly no better than the average toll house cookie (far worse actually) and not worth it. Sorry! read more

Swung by Mr. Nelson's Cookies stand at the Gilbert Farmer's Market and picked up a wonderful piece of heaven! Mr. Nelson himself was very passionate about explaining the work and ingredients that go into this cookie and he definitely convinced me that it was worth a try. One cookie is $5 and a dozen is $25. I bought one cookie to try it out and it definitely is worth the try if you are a sweets lover like myself. Let me start by saying I love Chocolate Chip Cookies, My husband does as well. We never had a bad cookie, that is until now. We made the mistake of buying two at $5.00 each. We couldn't wait to bite into them. We did however wait till we returned home. I ate the first one. It was AWFUL! I didn't say anything to my husband. A little while after I started sneezing like I had a bad allergy. I couldn't understand why this was happening. The next day my husband took a few bites of the cookie, and threw it away. Who throws a chocolate chip cookie away! That my friends is how bad it was. Now here is another mystery. Shortly after eating about half the cookie before throwing it away, my husband began the same sneezing fit I had the day before. I can't say it was from the cookie itself, but you can't help wonder what ingredient might be in it to cause such an incident. It would be interesting to know if anyone else experienced this. Regardless, and in any case, The cookie tastes awful, and is outrageously priced.
