Great restaurant addition to the North Charleston area! We gave the ramen a try on a Sunday afternoon and were not disappointed. First of all, the restaurant is beautiful and had great service. Our server was able to walk us through the menu, gave suggestions, and answered questions. We ended up ordering the pork buns, miso ramen, and the rich garlic chicken ramen. The bao buns were excellent and had so much flavor. I find other places may need extra sauce, but these had plenty, and with a light spice at the end. My husband ordered the miso ramen and I ordered the rich garlic chicken ramen. Both of the ramens were delicious and came with huge portions. Second visit and I must say my meal was much better. I still went with a ramen. This time, the Beef Ramen. The broth was much more flavorful, and the ingredients combine well. Portion size is decent, but I could have used a little more. I wish there was more beef in the meal. I was disappointed again because the menu states it comes with a beef rib. As you will see from my picture, there is none. I placed a to-go order, so I didn't realize it until I got home. I called them back, stating that it was missing, but was told that this was a "menu mistake." I've been here twice now and it was delicious both times. The staff is super friendly and the place is super cute! I've had the peach green tea with rainbow jelly sand it's delicious! I had the Takoyaki-Octopus Ball both times for an appetizer and both times it was delicious! Super favorable. My first time coming I had the Ramen with our pork and I with an extra egg. But it is the best-tasting broth I've had so far anywhere in Charleston and suburbs. Issues: - Eggs were too cold - Pork slices too thin, need to be thicker - More broth please - Noodles were a bit hard - Please don't spray cleaners next to customers who are eating...the aerosol gets into the food and ruins the smell. Maybe spray your napkins in the back, and use those to clean the tables, a big no-no! For those that don't know it's a fried ball of batter with a piece of octopus inside, drizzled with eel sauce and bonito (dried shaved fish). My friend and I love ramen. We do not live close by and drove a good drive to get here. She ordered the calamari and then we both got Tonkostu & Shrimp with no corn. Pork broth:pork chashu, shrimp tempura, wakame seaweed, non spicy bean sprout, green onion, half seasoned egg, bamboo, corn, nori seaweed and served with thick noodles. The calamari was little nuggets, I felt like this took away from the flavor a little too much. And my broth although delicious, it was still lacking some flavors, we asked for chili sauce but it still didn't really do the trick, and the noodles def needed like another 2 minutes cooking time, they were al dente for this dish. Tried this new ramen spot on a whim as I was passing by! Loved the cute decorations of the cherry blossoms, wood and umbrellas. We were seated right away and our waitress was very attentive. We ordered karaage for our appetizer which is a favorite of mine. The bites were small but crispy, which I really like. I ordered the tonkatsu rich garlic ramen. SUPER EXCITED for Mr. Pan Ramen to open and when you walk in, it's stunning! So beautiful and open. The staff here is STELLAR, super nice + quick. The price point is good and the location is amazing in the budding area of North Charleston. I am definitely going to give it some time before I return to Mr.Pan in hopes they step up their food game a little. I personally love my ramen PIPING HOT (temp wise) and the ramen was a little above warm and a little on the bland side. If i came not during my lunch break I would have asked for add'l broth concentration and to heat it up. I also prefer my ramen noodles on the al dente side and it was on the softer side here. Best ramen I've had in the area hands down. I've had almost every type of ramen they serve here and I am never disappointed. My favorite is the Spicy Tonkotsu ramen. The kimchi addition to the pork broth made the soup enjoyable. Service was great. The takoyaki and steamed buns arrived before my soup so I wasn't sitting there waiting. We arrived at 5:05 PM and there were already four tables to be seated ahead of us. We were told it would take about 15 minutes, which was surprising and more realistically we were seated in about 25 minutes, which was not bad for as busy as they were. The waitress came almost immediately, and was attentive (although English was definitely not her first language which was a bit challenging to understand), but she was efficient. One one of our meals was shrimp tempura which was very good in addition to the classic chicken Ramen. It was ok, but there are other places around Charleston that are more authentic and tastier. Not something we would go back for. The other meal was a meal of appetizers Comprised of seaweed salad (yum!), takoyaki (the whole reason why we tried this place out... The flavor was on point. However, if there is a fingernail size piece of octopus, that would be surprising... Would not pay eight dollars for the very tiny balls that included a negligible amount of octopus) and chicken steamed buns (the one thing I would definitely order again with the spicy sauce, juicy chicken and fresh veggies with the soft bun). In conclusion, this place is just opening and I think we should all give it a shot and we always try a restaurant at least twice before making a conclusive opinion (which is why I'm being generous with four stars). The staff is outstanding and quick as they can reasonably be. I've been to Japan many times and I would not compare this food to what you would get there but for this area it's OK. We went two separate times to Mr. Pan's, our first visit was amazing, I was very ecstatic to finally have some takoyaki in town, it did not disappoint! I had them in Japan and thought the one they had were huge, still so flavorful though. I definitely recommend it even if you're hesitant about the octopus. On our first visit, I had the classic tonkatsu ramen which was good in my opinion! They really got the broth right, the noodles could use a little bit more work, it honestly was kinda cold. The next time we went I tried the Garlic Tonkatsu Ramen, this time the noodles were perfect but to be honest I didn't really understand the price difference between the Classic and the Garlic, they tasted the same to me so I didn't really notice that big of a difference. Overall, we still enjoyed our time. I know they just opened so they are still polishing a lot of things, they definitely can do better with how they are seating people, there was quite a bit of confusion with that. Service was certainly faster on our second time so I am very happy that has improved!
