First impressions are everything & upon walking in, I was not impressed. IMO, outside doesn't match the inside. My boyfriend and I were extremely skeptical and almost did an about face & walked out. The inside can use updating. There's handwritten signs for the restroom which the door is behind what appears to be a sheet. The booth I sat in had a fake cherry blossom tree behind it that's too close so it kept poking in the head. It was uncomfortable to have to sit forward in the chair so it wouldn't keep happening. We ordered a 1/2 carafe of green apple sake. A half carafe is the size of a mimosa carafe so I'm not sure how small a large sake is The hot sake was served lukewarm. It may have been bc it took about 10 mins to reach our table after it was ordered. The Sapporo that was ordered came out right away. We asked the same to be reheated. The waitress was really nice and brought the carafe back out heated to the correct temperature. They have an abundance of sushi & sashimi. We ended up getting one of those combos with a tuna roll. All of the fish was fresh & tasty. For the amount of food we had it was a good price. Unsure I'd return though.

The food was good. We had shrimp udon, teriyaki chicken hibachi, and Thai tea. The food was fresh and flavorful. It's not the best hibachi in the area but it wasn't bad, I could have used more vegetables. The portions are good enough for the price considering its location. The look of the establishment is not fancy by any means, no need to dress up. You could easily miss the place if you didn't know about it. The booth seating was uncomfortable as you sank into them. The ambiance could use some refreshing, I would compare the vibe to a Chinese takeout restaurant. There was only one other couple there on a Saturday afternoon so it seems they do a lot of takeout orders. It's located downtown Summerville and parking is available. The waitress was very friendly and attentive.

If you're thinking about giving this place a try, I recommend you think again... I dined at Sushi 201 on a Friday night and was met with a little wait, which I was more than ok with. Once seated, the table enjoyed hot green apple sake. As an appetizer I ordered the hibachi vegetables. When the appetizer arrived it look bleh- the vegetables appeared soggy. After taking a bite I realized my eyes did not deceive me and the vegetables were VERY soggy and not fresh. My thoughts are that the vegetables used were previously frozen. As an entree I ordered two sushi rolls: the rainbow and kamikaze rolls. The rainbow roll was the worst sushi I have ever had, the fish tasted old and the roll was lacking flavor even with soy sauce. The kamikaze roll was decent, but nothing to write him about. The atmosphere is casual but a little dated. Food is served on plastic dishes and you're given a plastic fork and chop sticks to eat with. I would like to note that the service was fantastic, so that is why I am giving the establishment 2 stars instead of 1.

This place is so good I had to come a second time this week. This time, it was me and my sister. She ordered the shrimp bowl, and it was a healthy helping of food. She couldn't even eat it all. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento lunch box. That was also a hefty amount of food. I took the rest home for dinner. The food was hot and fresh and I enjoyed it more than the first visit! Once again, it was not crowded, and the employees were very pleasant! And if you like sweet tea, honey! Their sweet tea is bomb! I've found my new hang out spot! Please come try them out, you will not be disappointed!

We usually get take out from this restaurant but today we decided to dine in. Our take out experience from this restaurant is always bomb. We probably did like 8 times and not a single time we are not satisfied. Tori katsu is always on point. Super crispy and the chicken is seasoned. The sauce is sooo flavorful and sweet which gives it a good boost. It is served hot and fresh out of the fryer. My husband told me what he thinks about the teriyaki. He said that the taste is straightforward, sweet and salty. It was the perfect combination for his fried rice. We got the wontons as appetizers before I forget and my toddler loves them more than we did. Filling is super creamy and light. Perfect to start the meal with. We will definitely be back.

Delicious! The SC Roll was perfect! This Sushi is absolutely delicious! We also had the steak and shrimp hibachi!! My son had the kids chicken hibachi! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED!!!!

I was really excited to come here on mothers day. Ive been looking for an authentic japanese restaurant for a long time moving from a northern state with culture and diversity being embraced. I finally found this place that said they served donburi which is a rice bowl that come in different varieties such as oyako don katsu don etc. the menu saying donburi is very misleading because what is listed under that is not donburi. I think the restaurant served what i actually ordered but the donburi part should be taken off the menu because i was highly dissappointed when i thought i was getting katsu don and i got this.

Not impressed. Most (but not all?) of our meal was brought to us at the table (dining in) in go boxes for an $80 meal. Caught off guard by this at 1st so we asked for plates, still got the rest boxed. Pretty sure not covid related, just wanted to get dishes done. (7pm on a slow Sunday but open til 9 for reference. Maybe that's why...) Why display ur product like this if you don't have to? Hard to enjoy when ur let down at 1st impression. Wanted to sit and enjoy our food but instead felt rushed out the door and sent packing from the moment we walked in. Flavor was ok too which is even more sad.

So i really wanted this place to be amazing. The hibachi food was just really bland.. no real flavoring?! The sushi my friend ordered wasn't the best and wasn't the worst she ever had. It was very pretty though. In short it just wasn't that great. Even the service was a little weird we had three different people comeover.. not sure which one was the waitress. (One brought us drinks, one took our order and one came to check on us after) Either way we went without nothing so that was a definite plus!

I recommend making a reservation. We did not but Ms. Myles graciously accommodated our table for 2. A few hours prior we checked and reservations were wide open, but by the time we got there, they were pretty booked. The staff is wonderful and the food is made with care. Simply delicious! We began with a cup of their clear broth that was light and flavorful and cleansed our palettes for the grilled meats to come. At the suggestion of Ms. Myles, we had the Crispy Pork for an appetizer. Nice and crisp pieces of pork whose fat was properly rendered back into the meat. A lot of places miss this important step. It was served with a luscious white sauce and lightly vinegared hot sauce. Then we went right into their specialty- Yakitori We had one of each of the following: Momo- chicken Thigh Chicken Tenderloin with Yuzu Honey Glaze Australian Wagyu Beef- they offer American Wagyu, and A5 Japanese Kobe as well Bacon Wrapped Crab- high quality Crab stick wrapped in bacon..this was a standout for me. So rich and full of Umami Ribeye We finished the meal off with a plate of Beef Yaki-Udon. The depth of flavor was incredible and again the Umami took center stage. Interesting fact: They have been at this location for 31 years opening first as an Italian restaurant! Myles has been in Charleston for 40 years and is an icon in the Food and Bev industry. She was most recently recognized by Congress for her impact on the Charleston food scene. We were greeted with a smile and left with a hug. Tuna was super fresh, sauce was light and didn't overpower it, and the salmon balls had a great crunch with a ton of flavor. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. Good spot to split a few things and try a mix. Vibe is low key but still feels like a legit Japanese spot, not trying too hard. Service was great too, really attentive the whole time. Definitely coming back.

The room was quiet despite a fairly large crowd. Wait staff was super attentive and paced our items perfectly. The Sake I had was above average in taste. It is often pretty mediocre at such locations, but this was very good with layers of flavor. My wife had a limited appetite so ordered 2 appetizers. She is also unable to consume hot/spicey foods. They were able to provide multiple items that fit the bill. The pot stickers were great. I had one of the ramen dishes (Gamecock Ramen). It was loaded with great taste and very fresh Bok Choi. There was a smear of hot chili sauce, which allowed me to adjust the heat. This is a great way to handle this issue. The portion size was spot on and I was able to finish the bowl. Prices are extremely reasonable. We've not yet tried sashimi there, which can make or break our opinion (not good at another local Asian restaurant). We'll definitely be back though.

It is enclosed and air conditioned and the tables are spaced out much more than on the inside. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly and on point bringing their offerings. We started what would become our favorite dish of the night Scallops on the half shell. At first, you may balk at the price but believe me worth every penny. They were $26 at the time of this review but they are topped with two kinds of caviar. It was one of those dishes that after one bite you lean back and savor the flavors. The casino butter, sake and chili garlic will make your taste buds dance. I tried the chili garlic shrimp and gnocchi, and it was so good my wife threatened to steal it. Pillowy soft gnocchi in a rich, decadent sauce with hints of heat was outstanding. It is listed as a small plate, but I found the portion size quite filling. My wife had the oyster roll which was more like a po' boy not a sushi roll. We have had other oyster rolls, and they sometimes disappoint but not this one. Some restaurants just put a few oysters on the top of the bun and that's it, but this roll had oysters all throughout. It came with house made pickles and a single fried oyster on the side as a warmup. I highly recommend it. For dessert we shared a key lime pie semifreddo which was so pretty I almost felt bad for eating it. It was topped with a graham cracker crumble and both raspberry and lime curds. The texture reminding me of ice cream and was not overly tart with a nice hint of key lime. The torched flowers of meringue were really a great touch. The best word we both agreed on was "satisfying" and would definitely come back again!

I was actually pretty excited about this place because I was craving Thai food. I saw the pictures and it looked legit. I ordered the Panang curry thinking it was a safe choice... It also looked a bit different than other pics of Panang curry I saw on yelp- it wasn't as soupy or saucy as I had hoped. - minor annoyance was that they also didn't have brown rice. But Understandable since br rice isn't really Thai. - Another minor thing was I requested a 7/10 on spice level... I know spice is really subjective but this thing tasted more like a 1 or 2. I saw on the reciept the cashier got the order right... It also seemed wierd that I was asked if I wanted utensils... I would think for any to-go it'd be standard. I don't know if I would come back here... I saw another Thai/Lao or Filipino place down the street that I probably should have went to. That one was questionable because it looked like they had too much on their menu...
