I had the bannana pancakes. The were great. The variety of pancakes offered is unmatched in the dells. The service was below average, but the food came out fast and fresh. One thing I didn't like was they have posted on the menu assorted fees. IE: No plate sharing, $2 fee. Among a few other wierd fees. The prices seem a little high compared to other places in the dells. I paid 7.99 for pancakes. Most places are 4.99 to 5.99, but it's not a big deal. This is a good breakfast place. I highly recommend you ignore the comments about the"sharing plate" charge and just pay the fee and share a plate. IT WILL SAVE YOU MONEY! They give you a huge serving and any normal appetite will find it an excessive amount of food. We ordered the captains omelete (which came with two pancakes), 2 sides of hashbrowns (one easily shared w/2 people), a bacon & eggs plate (also came w/2pancakes) and a dollar pancake plate 10pc. The dollar pancakes are more the size of a cd/dvd disk than a silver dollar, so AGAIN I EMPHASIZE, EASILY SHARED and still filling. The omelete was about a 6x6 square, fresh, cheesy, and hot! I could have shared this w my husband easily, but he wanted eggs and bacon. The hashbrowns were awesome. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Good with salt and ketchup! The serving is the size of a 6" salad plate, so again, easily shared! Our total bill, less tip was $29.62, for a family of four, including 2 coffees, & 2 sodas. In addition, we were seated about 12 min after our checkin with the hostess during the very busy late breakfast period at about 10am. I would def go here again, even though the breakfast combos were not quite what we wanted/used to. I came here this morning with 4 others& was really excited to try this place but was disappointed from the start. There was a wait of about 20 minutes for the 5 of us which I entirely understand & didn't mind. The wait made us seem like it would be worth it. Absolutely every single employee we saw looked like they absolutely hated their job. They were smiley to us (for the most part) & as soon as they'd walk away they looked miserable. I looked through the menu& everything had some dairy which 2/5 of us could not eat. We asked about the waffle mix, had milk. Luckily, my sister asked about the hash browns containing butter- they did. I asked the server if it were possible for them to make me a side in vegetable oil or any other oil & she said they can't because they're pre-made. I get they were busy & it makes sense but what about the people who can't consume dairy? They didn't have avocado either which is typically my go to choice but again whatever. My sister & I just decided to go with fruit. I was going to ask for a side of toast when the food was served because I knew I'd still be hungry but I'm glad I didn't. Our step-sisters toast was buttered without even being asked which some people would like but this isnt iHop & none of us expected it. She didn't eat the toast. The only animal free product they had was fruit & our server made it clear that they would not accommodate us while every other restaurant has done a great job doing so which we always appreciated. I get it we're the minority but it'd still be nice to eat. We also had 4 orange juices & a cup of coffee (the coffee was halfway full but it was nice our server brought a little thing with some extra coffee so we ignored it), 2 of us just had fruit, someone had a typical egg breakfast, someone with an omelette & someone else with pancakes. Food was decent but nothing special, orange juice was great. But when we were given the check we were SHOOK! It was $60! LOL we hardly ate anything! Server was nice but didn't even bother to check up on us until boxes were needed, to prebus the table (pet peeve) or to see if there was any way we could eat anything other than fruit. YUM! Sure a little pricey but aren't all touristy places a little high? Son had strawberry pancakes and I was expecting a few scattered over the top. The entire top was covered with about half a pound of real strawberries, not the usual little ones in the red goo. Omelette was cooked perfectly smooth and soft. Gift shop cheesy but that's normal for the Dells. Go early before 8:30, there was a huge wait by the time we left around 9:30. There are stairs going in so not sure about any handicapped entrance. Like another reviewer that didn't actually eat here, I was unsure if I should leave a review or not, but our experience was kind of frustrating, so I will just as an FYI. My sister and I were in Baraboo for the weekend to go snow tubing at Cascade and then hit the outlet mall. On Saturday morning we were looking for a breakfast place and thought about the Log Cabin, which was near our motel, but then opted for something closer to our destination that day, the outlet mall. Mr. Pancake sounded good, and they were listed as 'open' on Yelp. I checked their website to see the menu and everything sounded great. We left the motel and 25 minutes later we pulled into a very closed Mr. Pancake. No signs noting they were closed for the season, and nothing on their site noted this. We checked for some other places in the area, Paul Bunyan's had a "closed for the season" banner on their website, and we eventually made our way to Denny's Classic Diner (not the chain), which was happily, open and very tasty. read more

We came here on a family vacation. This was one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. The place was extremely busy and we had a large party so we didn't mind waiting. Our hostess had an attitude when we told her our party size and rolled her eyes. We were never given an estimated wait time. Once we were seated and I look at the cheap paper menu, I was blown away, and not in a good way. $2 for a little egg. $2.50 to share a plate. They do not split checks. They are NOT allergy friendly. You have to pay 18% gratuity for a waitress you'll hardly see. I mean how hard is it create a space that is allergy free? How hard is it to split a check? My choices were extremely limited. Their policies are not consumer friendly, and seem to boil down to pure laziness. For the prices they charge and the policies they have in place I expect a better dining experience. Food is subpar and you can find better elsewhere. Don't waste your money here. read more

I have eaten at Mr. Pancake in the past years during my Dells Visits but this last one a few days ago was a huge disappointment. Slow service and our food was cold. No stars given in this case. We have a 3 year old with severe nut and egg allergies. It is listed on the menus to notify your wait staff of allergies. However, when we told the waitress about his allergies she replied that they wouldn't use time to clean off their griddles because they have too many customers. Went for a nice breakfast while on vacation with my boyfriend and his father, and ended up having a less than enjoyable time. The wait time was 20 minutes, which isn't bad for a packed place, but the wait for the food and for the bill was crazy. We waited maybe 40 minutes for the food, and another 30 for the bill. There seemed to be only one waitress for our side of the restaurant which made no sense since they had three employees cleaning tables. The food itself was massive, we all struggled to finish our plates, which wouldn't have been bad if it had actually tasted good. The buttermilk pancakes were just too thick and had no real taste, the veggie omelette advertised cheese yet had none, and the strawberries on top of my boyfriend's pancakes seemed like they had just been emptied from a can and didn't taste anything like strawberries. Overall, it wasn't a great way to start the day, and I wouldn't exactly recommend it if you're on a tight time limit. read more

Got in before the rush, because it does get very busy. My wife ordered the crepes which was served ice cold! We were told that this is normal, even though that was the first time we had EVER been served crepes cold at ANY restaurant. Eggs were rubbery, and disgusting . Rest of the breakfast was average at best. Complaining got us nowhere, and nothing was taken off our bill. I'm assuming it's because they're always so busy, and my complaints were meaningless. I'm really disappointed in this place because we've been coming here for years. The food was just ok. The server was good, but the cashier and manager did everything they could to get out of the 10% off deal before 9am. The ad is in every flyer and coupon book including the books outside the front door of the joint!!!! I saw the ad when we got to our hotel and decided to go with the family the next morning. The part I didn't see was "bring this ad". You would think they would honor it considering it doesn't have a bar code. I mentioned the discount to the cashier but she wouldn't honor it. I decided not to hold up the line and just pay. As I walked out, I found the same coupon book and brought it back in. The cashier wouldn't honor it because I already paid. I called for a manager and she protected the cashier and not the customer. It wasn't about the cash, it was the condescending attitudes of the cashier and manager. This was the worst breakfast of our trip. They use the same griddle and cross-contaminate the pancakes and waffles with nuts so two members of our family could not eat any of those items. It was noisy, over-crowded, and over-priced for the portion sizes. My daughter said her scrambled eggs were tasteless and my coffee was tasteless as well. I've had better tasting instant coffee. I didn't even drink half a cup. The service was poor. Our waiter could not remember who ordered what out of a party of four. He only came back to give us a check. Did not ask us how the food was or refill drinks. The tables are so crowded together we could barely squeeze into our seats. It was rather like eating in a barracks. As we left, people were waiting to get in and we wanted to say, "Don't bother, you'll get better food and service at Denny's and pay less, too." We went on a Saturday morning and while busy, we waited less than 10 minutes to be seated. We ordered and then proceeded to watch three tables of 8-10 people who were seated well after us get their food. After 30 minutes we said something to the waitress and were told it was on the grill. We waited again. After 50 minutes we decided to leave only to be told our food was "on the grill" now. Too late Mr. Pancake. I can't speak to the quality of the food. read more

This place is definitely a waste of time. This management in this restaurant definitely is not in tune with the way this restaurant is running. Had the "3 pigs in a blanket" pancakes. Pancakes were average at best but the disappointment came from the sausage that was wrapped inside of the pancake. Mr Pancake was busy when we went on a Sunday morning. We didn't have to wait terribly long. Our waitress was busy, but friendly. The coffee was decent, but not fantastic. My husband ordered the bacon pancakes and was very pleased. The kids each got a kids plate of pancakes, eggs and bacon or sausage. They both enjoyed their food. My only gripe about this place would be the lack of anything other than pancakes. I'm not that broken up about it considering it's called Mr Pancake, but I had to pay $3.25 for 1/2 cup of oatmeal. I don't even like pancakes very much but the pancakes here are delicious. I got the Mexican omelet, which comes with 2 pancakes. The omelet was also very good and HUGE. There is a $2.50 plate sharing fee which kind of sucks, but we definitely would have been able to share a plate and still have leftovers. The price is very reasonable, with everything being around $7-8. I would definitely come back. The service was good also, especially for how busy it was. read more

Visited the Dells this weekend and ate breakfast here since the kids like pancakes. Biggest mistake of the weekend. Hungry Jack pancakes from the box are much better than what is offered here. Forget the chocolate and banana pancakes over priced and oddly dry. Too expensive when you add the costs for sides like bacon and sausage. The decor needs a major update and maybe Restaurant Impossible could pay a visit. They maybe can give the manager, Liz suggestions on how to manage as well. We love Mr. Pancake. You cannot go to the Dells and not go here, at least once. The food is wonderful. The portions are huge and service is quick and fast. It doesn't matter what you order here, you will enjoy it. The pancakes are wonderful. Our daughter loves the chocolate pancakes, the hash browns are yummy and the banana split waffle is to die for. We loved Mr. Pancake! Located in a reasonable facsimile of an old Mississippi riverboat (and located directly across from Noah's Ark), Mr. Pancake did not disappoint. The first time in a long time that I can remember when everyone cleaned their plates...we even bought the t-shirts. We had very low expectations (the entire "gift shop" area was filled floor-to-ceiling with strange little stuffed animals -- why?), which I think helped contribute to the overall silliness of the whole dining experience and full enjoyment of the food and atmosphere (my teenage son had chocolate pancakes with chocolate chips AND whipped cream AND ice cream on them...he was laughing as he was eating!). We also had the nicest server, who genuinely seemed to care that we were having a good breakfast experience. Go for breakfast, order the pancakes and accept this place for what it is -- a pancake riverboat stationed the middle of the touristy Wisconsin Dells. read more

We were the first customers of the new season but, we wouldn't have known it. The place ran very smoothly. Our party consisted of two adults and three small children. Let me start by stating that the pancakes were AMAZING. The banana pancakes were fabulous. Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! The kids' meals were good and came with pancakes, eggs, and a sausage link. The sausages were not that good. The scrambled eggs didn't taste much like eggs. The coffee was really bad and I would just order a glass of milk next time. All of that said, let me say again, the pancakes were off the hook, out of this world, amazing. And, the syrups at the table were great too. They have strawberry (yum), blueberry (delish), maple (as good as any other), honey, which was made there (I guess the other flavored ones aren't?) and really seemed like maple syrup flavored with cinnamon (fabulous!). The bottom line, stick with the pancakes. The service was GREAT and we will definitely go back the next time we're in the Dells but, we will stick with the pancakes and avoid the coffee at all costs. read more
